@@skyrunner1818 Yes. Retiring in ~7 years and now starting to work on the plane/build that will work (maybe the RV15 or other mod). It will be a slo-mo round-the-world-wander, that will be in no hurry (1++ years). However, I'm enjoying my RV7a now and your videos are inspiring, thank you!

Karl, that sounds like a plan. Hoffentlich naechstes Jahr - 10 months to go...

I was wearing a helmet especially for the overwater flights. I thought in case of rapid decelaration (most probable) when ditching I don´t want to bang my head on the canopy frame and be unconscious for even the shortest time when I have to get out of the plane which is filling with water. May be not really necessary but just in case. It is also good insurance during any emergency or crash landing in rugged terrain. Sure flying with an ANR headset is much more comfortable but wearing a helmet for just these flights is not too bad. Prior long flights I usually just give the airplane a good lookover and do a wobble test to minimize the risk for stuck valves.

There is foam in the outer wing sections including wing tips as well as the accessible bays aft of the fuel tanks. Some in the wing roots also. It displaces around 480 liters so good to carry around 1050 lbs. No foam in the tail as this will be out of the water - that´s what I thought at least.

@@skyrunner1818 I'm thinking that foam idea might be good for my occasional bay crossings, etc. Any idea of the weight added with the foam? Thanks!

@@clarkgriswold-zr5sb Yes I know. The foam I used weighs around 22 kg per cubic meter. In other words 2.2% of the displacement of water. For me it was 23 lbs dead weight for 1050 lbs additional buoyancy.

The weight roundabout offsets the heavier salt water and so can be neglected to calculate buoyancy.

Yes no problem: The silver is an AUDI code LY7W (788046) Lichtsilber-Metallic which translates into something like Light Silver Metallic. The blue color is RAL 5022. Clear coat on top. Hope this helps.

I made another aux tank last winter, so 15 gallons now.

That would help operating all these cameras....

Honestly I don´t know. I choosed it out of a small selection, just took the one which fit best.

Used an Insta360 cam behind the rear seat, otherwise regular Gopros. Cams with video stabilization is the way to go.

I do have an instrument rating and the plane is IFR equipped, but were flying VFR over Greenland.

@@skyrunner1818 Do you have to be a millionaire to build and own one of these? How much do you budget for the hourly cost?

@@rakamora2266 Sorry for the late reply. And no, no millionaire needed to own one. I operate it like a car and don´t really calculate hourly costs, but probably 100 $ an hour or more is the number. The more you fly the more expensive it is, but the hourly costs come down.

Thanks for the comments. I´m quite unmusical and having a hard time chosing music for a project, in fact I usually need help from my better half. Yes if you define the music dramatic it might be too long. Will keep your advice in mind - thanks again.

Ja, ist schon so. Filmmusik kann das Geschehen und die visuellen Eindrücke unterstreichen und betonen. Aber es ist eine "spezielle Kunst", gar nicht so einfach. Allerdings war auch die gesamte Aufnahme "dramatisch". Und damit passt auch die musikalische Untermalung wieder! 🙃

@@skyrunner1818 Zu lang ist sie wohl nicht. Es ist nicht so einfach, eine passende Musik für einen Film zu finden, welche das Auf und Ab im Geschehen gut untermalt. Insofern: ein fantastischer Flug und guter Sound 👍 Vielen Dank fürs Mitnehmen!
