Ending of RvB Season 6, Ep. 19. This is the Director's last speech to the chairman before he was arrested.
Transcript:
Director: Dear Chairman.
I am disappointed by your decision to press charges, but I am not surprised. My only hope is that the courts will see the matters differently than you have. You see, I never had the chance to serve in battle, nor did fate provide me the opportunity to sacrifice myself for humanity as it did for so many others in the Great War. Someone extremely dear to me was lost very early in my life. My mind has always plagued me with the question, if the choice had been placed in my hands, could I have saved her? The memory of her, has haunted me my entire life, and moreso in these last few years than I could ever have imagined. But given the events of these past few weeks, I feel confident that had I been given the chance, I would have made those sacrifices myself. Had I only the chance.
I know that you disagreed with my methods, and that others will as well. This is beyond my control. However, I cannot imagine that any court, would be able to convict me, no matter how low their opinion of my actions might be. You must understand one basic fact for all this to make sense my dear Chairman. These A.I., they all come from somewhere; they are all based on a person. Our Alpha, was no exception. And while the law has many penalties for the atrocities we inflict on others, there are no punishments for the terrors that we inflict on ourselves. So you send your men. They won't find themselves a fight. They'll only find an old man. An old man tired, but satisfied he did his duty. An old man weary from a mind more filled with memory, than it is with hope.
Sincerely yours, the former director of Project Freelancer, Doctor Leonard Church.

@Its-Av3rage
@Its-Av3rage 5 лет назад
Darth Specter well actually I was maybe thinking that the director might of actually tortured himself at first but then I rewatched some key moments and I’m pretty sure that’s ruled out but one question I have is that if their all based off someone but Alpha was based off the director then doesn’t that mean all the other AI would be based of him too? Or were they each based on somebody differently after the torture? But then it says in one of the recollection “series” or whatever you wanna call it the AI would just convince their freelancers to come back for the Alpha. So it means they must have some memory or something. I have so many questions.

The Church that we met in Blood Gulch is not the Director, rather, he is Alpha (and later becomes Epsilon), an AI based off of the brain of Dr Leonard Church, the Director of Project Freelancer. They have the same basic personality, emotions, thought processes, etc, however Church and the Director are different people.
@Hoodie403
@Hoodie403 3 года назад

@James-oj6ru
@James-oj6ru 2 года назад
Correct @@Hoodie403, though technically, Alpha, Epsilon and the Director are one of the same (Alpha’s creation is based on a brain copy of the Director, Epsilon is Alpha’s memory before any of the freelancer events) yet three of them are completely different people. the Director is a calm, serious yet melancholic and easy to fuse person with the views of “the end justifies the means. Alpha is an easy to piss off, sarcastic asshole yet selfless, patience and logical in ways, despite the wounds he endured, despite his hopeless feelings, he in the end, lied to him self goes out sacrificing Epsilon… is basically Church actually, except unlike him, he’s more of an asshole, more lax in his personality and realized his true potential as an A.I than a ghost, just like his previous incarnation, he goes out selflessly, for the friends he truly believes Yet they all share the same name and pain… the name of Leonard Church and the pain of their Alison, Director being her lost, Alpha losing her again and Epsilon having to end her Oh and they’re easy to anger and likes sacrificing themself for some reason… did you know that Carolina is the oldest Red and Blue characters in the show? 34 years old (during the Chorus trilogy) while Sarge is 29 (25-26 during Season 1) the rest can be assumed to be younger

My version: Dear Disney, I'm dissapointed by your decision to rush finales, but i am not surprised. My only hope is that the fans will see the matters similarly that i have. You see, i never had the chance to serve on animation. Nor did fate provide me the opportunity to write well a finale as you did for so many others in the fictional Armageddon. Someone extremely dear to me was not given a shit in the finale. My mind has always plagued me with the question, if the choice had been placed in my hands, could i have given the characters the screentime they deserved? the memory of that trilogy, has haunted me my entire life, and more so in these last few months than i could ever have imagined. But given the events of these past few months, i feel confident that i had been given the chance, i would have made those three episodes good... had i only the chance, i know that some will disagree with my opinions and that others will as well. This is beyond my control. However, i cannot imagine that any court would be able to convict me, no matter how high their opinion of the trilogy might be. You must understand one basic fact for all this to make sense Disney, these characters, are memorable, and they deserved great conclutions, and Bill, was no exception. And while the law has many penalties for the atrocities that we inflict on others, there are no punishments for the dissapointment you inflicted on others. So you rush your finales, they won't find themselves my aproval, they will find a guy, a guy dissapointed, but with a Kanohi Mask, a guy that wishes that your masterpiece returns. Sincerely yours. The former director of project freelancer Infrared Toa.

It's just kind of strange that a indie show has better dialogue and story than professional show.

+Art Of Breaking Ha too true. my question is did they always intend rvb to turn into such a lore driven thing?

I don't think that it was. The first season especial makes it seem like it was just supposed to be a small funny thing. My question is, at what point did it become something more.

Does anyone know what the song that plays in the background of this scene is called? Edit: Found it! It's called First Wave, and is part of Trocadero's Ghosts That Linger album.
