I feel like his mother being more strongly effected due to her being exhausted hints that the mental fortitude of the victim comes into play. If someone with a weak mind(or a mind in a weakened state) loses more memory than intended, then it would be possible that someone with a strong mind could resist it, regardless of semblence. I choose to believe this is the case, because if it isn't then his semblence is unbeatable, and how can there even be any conflict at that point?

Would love to see him up against a seemingly aloof opponent who's very forgetful. You'd think he's the hard counter, until suddenly the forgetful one pulls a plot twist by being used to the situation and better practiced at recalling lost information. "He's unaffected by my semblance!" *puffs joint* "Dude, I forgot why I was here like nine times already."

So in short, Yatsu’s semblance is the opposite of Emerald’s semblance... Honestly, both are amazingly strong

I think it would be idiotic of the writers if they decided to push Yatsu's Semblance to the point where he could make someone "forget how to breathe". Breathing, like opening and closing your eyes and mouth, or peeing and pooping, is a body's natural movement and/ or response, for any multi-celled animal on planet Earth; these are not things that must be learned or remembered, they are things bodies do automatically at birth (or at hatching). We actually have to train and remember how to restrain our bodies from doing these things, if we wish to do so. (and I realize that RWBY takes place on the world of Remnant, not "this planet", but we have to assume that biology there is, for all intents and purposes, and with the exceptions of Aura and Semblances, the same as on Earth). So, all that being said, yeah, it would make zero sense if Yatsu of anyone else could make anyone forget how to breathe or forget how to do any other automatic physical response/movement.

Yatsuhashi (maybe with jaune helping boost his aura) just needs to make Salem forget Ozma, the reasons she wants to destroy everything , and BOOM RWBY IS SOLVED

Something tells me CRWBY gave Yatsuhashi that semblance as a convenient way of defeating Salem. Maybe w/ a boost from Juane, he'll be used to make Salem forget about Oz, or at least his original death. 🤷‍♂️

I Have the feeling that CFVY and SSSN ending up in Vacuo is CRWBY setting up the Final Showdown with Salem there. This would mirror the Ending battle of the Great War 80 years earlier. I would not be surprised if Volume 7 ends with the defeat/destruction of Atlas resulting in More Huntsmen teams fleeing to Vacuo as a Last refuge, setting up a last stand there.

I believe a strong aura shield might be able to reduce his semblance's effect, after all, it's also manifested through aura I believe, so maybe Jaune's semblance or aura thingy could help defend against his semblance also, I believe yatsuhashi has inmense aura which is what amplifies his strength like that, and that's why it would be incredibly hard to resist his semblance

I have a theory for Before the Dawn!!! From after the fall we already know there's some other villain trying to capture people with powerful semblance, what if somehow word got back to Carmine's boss and they went after Yatsu in the next book. Spoiler but not really?? In the scholastic description of Before the Dawn it says the headmaster of shade is going to split up all the teams and create new ones. What if Yatsu gets captured but he's all alone because he doesn't have his team??

I like this team a lot it and jaune's team are my favorites in the series so its nice that we can see what their semblances are. Could you imagine what type of damage Coco's could do if Jaune amplified her or yatsu

from what ive seen and believe , a selmblence dosent just evolve linearly (meaning base ability just gets stronger) i feel the extent of what said semblence can do is capable of evolving aswell, such as an example his semblance may evolve to allow him to MANIPULATE memories, not just erase them. again, just a slight idea to stir the pot

While wiping Bertilak’s mind, Yatsu mentions that physical contact helps him avoid accidentally using his Semblance on someone else nearby. Given he could have wiped his teammates memories ACCIDENTALLY, he can probably affect many people at once.

Yatsu's semblance could be so useful, think of it, he could make salem forget why she is so angry with ozpin and maybe forget why she chose her path, so when the gods come back, she might be able to understand love

I just read the book, I hope CFVY will have many scenes in vol 9 (or 10 if 9 will be showing only the other place). It surprised me, that Coco and Velvet weren't partners, but it gives the team a different vibe. I loved the scene when Velvet and Yatsuhashi met and they talked things out.

And in Before the Dawn he uses it at FULL FREACKING POWER and he MELTS Jax Asturias' brain! This guy's a monster!

I find it weird that an 8 year old gets an allowance, when I was a kid I was busy enjoying my youth to worry about that stuff. Long story short, never gotten an allowance as a kid, but didn't care because I was a kid and I was having fun doing kid things

you cant forget how to breathe because you never learned. if you're not conscious your body will breathe and your heart will beat. You can learn to hold you breath but you cant forget how to breathe. If you were aware of your breathing and stopped breathing you wouldn't die because the moment you passed out your body would naturally breathe again.

It’s unlikely he’d be able to make someone forget how to breathe since that’s just an autonomous bodily function that has nothing to do with memory. In psychology the current theory is that there are two different kinds of memory, explicit and implicit. Explicit memory is events that happened in your life and general cultural knowledge while implicit is more unconscious like the knowledge of how to ride a bike or logical reasoning. Amnesiacs generally only lose their explicit memory while implicit memory stays in tact, which is why they’re still able to talk or remember specific general information, and the same seems to be the case for Yatsuhashi’s semblence. (this whole explanation is a mess lmao I’m not a psychologist but you get the idea)

Yatsu could also make someone completely forget how to fight, or even how to walk, placing them at a severe disadvantage

It’s not that powerful. Glynda’s and Adam’s are far more powerful.

Yatsuhashi could literally make Salem forget what she's fighting for. Why didn't Ozpin consider that? Hell, with Jaune's aura amp he could make her forget the gods even existed. Or make her think they brought Ozma back to life.

Imagine Yatsuhashi wiping Salems Memory and boom shes nice, Oz and Team RWBY summons the Brothers back, and there we go :)
