Remember to let us know what generator you like the most! Also check out the sister video to this comparing these generators to Hondas. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H4x-WxlwwfU.html

*Fantastic little **Generater.Systems** ! I have a slide in camper on my truck and this ran for at least 14 hours on less than a gallon of fuel mainly running lights and water pump. With the small load it had no problem running in eco mode and was so quiet we had to listen close just to see if it was running.*

This was so good! Very interesting!! I am so glad I stumbled upon this review. I KNEW you guys were gonna pick the older model! Seemed to fit your needs more. I am going to end up getting 2 of the little indoor model. I am not outdoorsy. I am in the city and do not own a car, so getting gas is not an option. I need a generator for indoor/outdoor tabling events and gaming events. When you gave an example of your trade show use of the generator that hit home for me. I will need the generators to power two 65" tv's, gaming consoles, charge personal electronics, Bluetooth speakers, and lamps. I was super sad to learn all 4 additional 40 watt batteries cannot charge simultaneously. (I will need to figure out how to charge the batteries before events.) Since I will be taking the 1,800 invertor generator on college campuses and other professional settings I like the look, ease of transporting, plus whisper volume level when it's on. I'm gonna check out some more of your generator reviews! =D

The remote start would be nice for my cabin now that we got it wired up.

I feel the battery-powered and gas-powered generators are really suited to different use cases. You could easily justify having one of each for different needs. And if you already own a few 40V Ryobi batteries, then the price is not such a hit. My biggest complaint is that for being the newest generator of this group, it lacks some features of the other ones (or they don’t work as they should), such as the remote start, which you would think would be easier to implement on a battery-powered generator than a gas-powered one. Overall, nice review. I’m well invested in the 18V Ryobi line, have nothing in the 40V line, and have never looked at their generators before this video. I sincerely hope that Ryobi is making plans to release an updated battery-powered generator that brings it up-to-speed feature-wise to its gas-powered cousins.

I have two of the pull-start models. The only thing I did was upgrade the spark plug and fuel filter because the ones that come with them are the cheapest they can find to put in there to save on cost. I haven't had any issues since. I just used one of them to ride out the power outage from the snow and ice storm that hit this week in northern Virginia.

Hey! I was in DC when that snow storm hit and I-95 was backed up w/drivers sitting in gridlock traffic for 24+ hours!! When you used your generators, did you place them outside your home and run an extension cord for power?
@cameronwashington7650
@cameronwashington7650 2 года назад
@@CC-si3cr Rgr, you never want to run a generator anywhere near your house, it's extremely dangerous. I ran mine in the driveway about 10 feet away and ran two extension cords (heavy cords like the orange indoor/outdoor ones) from the generator outlets in the house and went from there.

I have 2 of the Ego Battery Generators, each with 4x 7.5A 56v batteries. I love them but the 10A batteries for those run $550 each! I did get a couple of the solar adapters so that's a great advantage but they're pretty pricey too ($200ea).

I have to agree with your ranking -- simpler is often more reliable. The battery powered unit is tempting since I do have quite a few 40 volt batteries (albeit 2 6 Ah and the rest are 4 Ah), but the lack of a run time indicator and the badly performing battery status along with the high cost prevents me from purchasing it.

There are a few unique use cases we have found for the 40v. One in particular is at trade shows. We have used it to power a 55” tv for over 8 hours and have saved hundreds of dollars on “power connection” fees. And because they are silent. No one knew we had an generator under the table. We talk about it a little bit in the sister video to this on our other channel: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H4x-WxlwwfU.html

@@SolelyRyobi That is a good use case for the battery unit. Another good use case would be during an extended blackout -- you could use the battery unit for essentials overnight since it is silent, and a gas generator during the day, also charging the batteries with the gas generator (using the rapid charger since the charge via the unit is slow and sequential.

Ive seen a few people say that the battery power supply can be paralleled with the gas generator. have you guys tried this? Im curious how they'd actually function together.
@SolelyRyobi
@SolelyRyobi 2 года назад
Great question. Yes we tried it and it is actually really cool. You can pair any of these three generators with each other in parallel mode to get more out of them. We did this to run the microwave and then used the app to kill the gas generator to go to bed. Left the 40V running into the night because it is silent. Super cool and it worked great. We talk about it a little in the sister video to this on our other channel: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H4x-WxlwwfU.html

I started the 40v line with their lawnmower. And slowly added other lawn equipment. I happened to catch all the lawn equipment on sale with batteries. So I have I have plenty of batteries. YES, that darn thing was expensive, but I was excited to get it. I bought it for emergencies, such as when we have power outages and it has been fantastic. Can someone explain why ryobi discontinued the propane generator? I want one badly. I want the propane generator to be backup power for recharging the 40v batteries. The propane is less mess, the fuel storage would be perfect.
@Kitchfox
@Kitchfox 2 года назад
Well I'm not sure if they discontinued all their propane generators without looking first. But if you're wanting something like the little 700-900 watt generator they made search for the Baja 900. It's definitely a like for like and mine is 2 years old and gets a oil change every spring and it's going strong as the day I unboxed it.

Do you have the ability to connect the two 40v power stations together with the connecting cable? I’ve not been able to see any videos with this tested.

That is a great question! Yes, you can cannot any of them together with any of the others. We have done it and it works great. We should do a video specifically about it. Here is the sister video to our on our other channel where we talk about parallel a little more. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H4x-WxlwwfU.html

All depends on usage and situations. Hot, cold, outside or inside work? Me I need a ice fishing unit so old ryobi is a winner. Like the new one but without a choke? That’ll be a cold state problem.

I would pick the one with remote start solely for the remote start! I don't want to go outside to start and stop it while camping.

Quick video tip for you: It appears that your video camera was focusing on an annoying small sprig of grass closest to the camera -- making you-guys, and everything else slightly out-of-focus. Great tips on Ryobi generator though! Generators: I thought I was going to like the middle one (pictured), until you went into the cons -- lack of cold-start a biggie. (Send that wife of yours to a Health-Club for some weight training!). Liked the one on the right the best as well. Typically, when these devices would be used, IMO, is when you DON'T have ANY other source of power. BTW: does the output of all three provide some form of Pure Sine-Wave Output?
@kate7580

I also would like to know the pure sine wave question.... sometimes we use Computers and devices that REALLY dont like square wave power.

My mom is 88 years old the Ryobi 40 V inverter is something that she can turn on and plug something in the hand stat generator is worthless going out in the cold is a pain and she wouldn’t be able to start it anyways and the battery start generator is not able to start with the app if it sits for a while so the price is not important at all if the product doesn’t do any good in an emergency especially a serious one gas would be worthless if you can’t get gas propane would be a much better way to go the only problem with the 40 V unit is you need a lot of batteries you really need about three or $4000 worth of batteries to be able to run something equivalent to what the generators will run but like I said it’s worthless if it doesn’t work so I choose the 40 V Ryobi unit I just wish that ryobi would sell a 12 pack of the 12 Amp hour 40 V batteries because that’s what you need for that inverter thanks for the video it was a really good video
