Nice bike. Next week I will start ordering parts for my 2020 114” Road Glide Special. Am installing an S&S 128” big bore unless I change to the 132” over the weekend. Right now I’m torn between the 540 and 550 cams. I currently have a Stage 2 with S&S 475. I love the sound but hate the torque under 3500rpm. At highway speeds, 70+ what rpm’s are you at with the 540? I’m heading to Colorado Springs from Panama City in June and don’t want my bike turning 5K rpm all the there and back. Thanks!

Sounds killer! I believe that the 540 is just a higher lift 465, where the 550 is a higher lift 475.

I think you're right, Mike. I do notice at the bottom end it sounds much much more aggressive than it did before with the Screaming Eagle 517 cam. It also sounds much more aggressive than my buddies S&S 590.

Nice! Be careful on not getting a too big of a throttle body, you want to maintain the intake air velocity in order to keep the throttle response and low end torque.

With an engine that's only cammed, it's often more beneficial to leave the stock throttle body, as a big cam can decrease intake air velocity, and a larger TB can further decrease it. At that point you'd begin losing power.

On a carburetor application true. On FI the TB velocity doesn’t matter, it’s the port velocity leading into the intake valve that matters!

@@trailerparkcryptoking5213 I get what you're saying, while carburetors are definitely reliant on vacuum signal, to say intake manifold port velocity doesn't affect fuel injected engines just isn't true. Too small or big an intake manifold port can radically affect performance. The trick is to match all components to function and work together within their intended performance range. Don't forget Harley intake ports in heads are relatively short compared to car engine heads, but even in an automotive application, the size and length of the intake manifold runners can dramatically affect performance.

@@trekbsg the throttlebody is the furthest thing in the intake tract from the valve, therefore has the least impact on velocity. You need high velocity in the intake port leading to the valve to take advantage of inertia as the intake valve is on its way to closing. Look at all the available TB FI kits available right now that directly replace carburetors on old school V-8’s. Some of these TB’s are way bigger than the engine can utilize, some TB’s are 1000 cfm on an engine that only needs 600 cfm, but it works because the smaller cross sectional area of the port is where the velocity increases....

It's a 131 Rick. I have built heads with oversized values, porting done, stiffer retainers, etc.. 🤘🏼

how is the mid to top end?, what other mods on bike?

Top end it starts to drop at 5900rpms. Check out some of my latest videos to see the mods. There's too much to list. But overall this bike is more like a drag bike and less like a track bike. It pulls extremely hard. 🤘🏼

I don't even remember since this was so far back now. I think it was just a Harley 131 kit with a Fuel Moto Jackpot RTX Riot shorty exhaust, the Fuel Moto AC/DC air cleaner, and the Dynojet Power Vision.

@@davidmatias6239 Oh it's an AMAZING cam and you'll probably dominate from a hole-shot racing your buddies or needing to get around a car really quickly. But you'll hate it in traffic or hitting a little bump. It's a very sensitive cam. It sounds amazing though. 🤤

I think that the 470c is wha t they recommend for a 114ci. The 540c if for the higher CI motors I think.

I have same cam... came in at 137hp/157tq... my only complaint is throttle responsiveness... it's too responsive... I hit a bump in the road and it's whiplash city... I have to go back now and get the throttle de-tuned so it's a slower response.... who'd thunk!

YASSSS! I'm glad that others agree with what I said about the cam. The S&S 540 turns your bike into a drag bike. It's too responsive! Just like you, I have to be careful for bumps in the road or else it's snapping me forward. 😂

That was my reason to get the 550 in my FM 128 was I didn’t want to keep buying tires and get whip lash so I pushed the power band up another 500 rpm’s

@@20sgcvo90 Very smart. If I could go back I would get the S&S 550 myself. The 540 is just too aggressive and it isn't needed. Unless you're building a drag bike... Then it's the best cam ever. 🤣🤣🤣

You guys see that the number scale on the sides isn’t the same right? So it won’t look like a normal graph. If u think the dealer is blowin smoke, it’d take some computer wizardry to come up with a fake graph while the customer is standing right there watching you

@@grayjoshua84 what is your level of math education? I have successfully completed Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3 and Differential Equations for Engineers & Scientists. I know very well how to read a graph whether it’s Cartesian coordinates, semi-log or log-log if you even have any fkn idea what that means! Pay close attention and learn something.....If the scales are different in the “Y” dimension of the graph it can have a bearing on the “slope” of the curve, but those curves will theoretically cross at 5252 RPM of the X-axis! Make sure you know what tf your talking about before you try to impress someone you know nothing about! 😂😂😂
