www.patreon.com/junk_rig_sailor/membership My pathetic Patreton "pitch": Hi there, In the tradition of the ubiquitous sailing channels popping up here, there and everywhere, I too thought I would join the fun - so have started a Patreon account linked to my RU-vid channel. The reasoning behind this is many fold, but top of mind is that I too want dreamers to fund my sailing trip around the world! I have lots to offer as a diametrically refreshing change from the T&A Thong Wedgie sailing channels. There are too many to fully list, but here are a few of the refreshing reasons you should become a Patreon (or should not) : 1. I am middle aged, out of shape guy with a bit of a protruding gut (what the youngsters call 'Dad Bod'), no hair, am bespectacled and not good looking 2. I look shocking in a bikini 3. My man boobs are real, not fake 4. I am not in a sunny suntan oil inducing location 5. I am not actually even sailing because I am rebuilding an old GRP boat 6. I won't tell you I need the Patreon donations money to buy cameras' to do better filming. Truth is I just use my cell phone as I am too lazy to figure out anything else. 7. My channel updates are haphazard So there you have it. For as little as USD$3 per month, you can be one of the very few that instead of funding beautiful people on fancy sailing boats in sunny locales - you can fund ugly old me on my dreadful channel. It is an easy choice, surely...

😂😂 Ha that is indeed pathetic but pretty funny! I will pledge you $5 per month. I gather it is Kiwi dollars.

Are you looking to make the companionway similar to your previous sailboat with the angled ocean-hatch instead of traditional drop boards? By the way, you have a great set up there with your boathouse.

Hey there. Yes you picked it. Very similar set up is what I am proposing for the companionway as per my previous boat. I know some people hate it, but I loved it on my last boat, plust it is undoubtedly more seaworthy than traditional dropboards. The boathouse took a lot of planning and some cost, but is worth in the end to enable us to work safely and in all weathers.

@@junk_rig_sailor1698 I think your approach is absolutely correct, anything which can let water in should be reduced to an absolute minimum, I'm firmly in the "fewer holes in boats" camp. Surprising to hear that people give you grief about the hatch, because every time a drop board jams or leaks I feel like throwing it in the sea.

@@phillycheesetake Hey thanks Philly. Yes I think sometimes old customs are hard to break, but increasingly the ocean hatch in lieu of dropboards is becoming more popular, including on some of the modern solo ocean race yachts.
