Merrick brought a few heads in preparation to be the world's fastest G80 M4 and be the first in the 7's! We hooked him up with our partner in horsepower GSC Power Division to get their S2 cams and valvetrain and he did some testing while we were busy doing his head. Watch and see the head we scrapped and moved into a badass S58 cylinder head with our new CNC port!

Would you guys port a 22re head and install 3mm+ or 1mm+ oversized valves over stock (which ever would be better for this application)? Rounded square shaped intake ports. circle shaped exhaust ports, at the end that meets the header it becomes pear shaped. 8 valves in total. Not too sure about forced induction at the moment. Also planned on converting it to carburetor.

Wouldn't the best thing to do would be for GSC?To develop camshafts now based on the new CNC port profile? Also, they have to consider factors like vehicle weight, stall converter speed, and rear end ratio?

​@@headgamesWill you share comparisons and flow sheets between stock and your cnc ports? Also difference and increases in port velocity? Lastly has the swirl cut on the valve you showed replaced back cutting the valve stem above the face? Back cutting used to increase velocity significantly back in the day. I'm a former race engine builder just trying to learn about modern engine development techniques. I've been gone from the industry 25 years.

@@daltonhanleyjr4142 We don't share the cnc numbers, but we might show the gains in another video using a graph. Showing airspeed would be a big animal to tackle because it is such a technical piece. The valve shown in the video was an exhaust valve, and they don't get a back cut ever. Just intake. Welcome back after a few decades! Lots of the same principles apply to the new stuff except gasket matching. I think back when I did the BBC stuff at Musi's it kinda made sense but we still port matched the intake manifold to the head and not to a gasket. The new stuff, we don't usually touch the cross section at the flange.

​@headgames I understand about not sharing the CNC port numbers. I didn't realize that was an exhaust valve. They are very close in size to the intake valve. .Im curious about your port velocity. I think the young people need that presentation from you. It will help them realize flow bench numbers arent everything. Ive seen too much fundamental knowledge about competition engine building being lost, because everyone thinks dropping a big turbo on a stock LS , Coyote, or B/S 58 engines is all you need to do to go fast. If you are not making a 1000bhp, your car is a POS. These guys dont know how good they have it. Back in the day you really had to work extremely hard to achieve results that are easily achieved today. I come from NHRA Comp Eliminator background/class. So you know first hand about what we would do to find horsepower. I nerd out on this type of stuff. I love your channel keep up the great work. I won't bother you with any more questions today. Ok i have 2 questions just to feed my brain with good info. 1. How do you measure valve guide so they all can be on the same hight ? 2. Can you upgrade valve springs with stock cams ❓ i am envicious with your videos 😂😂😂😂

- we use a guide that has a stop OR we can measure the guide height with a caliper. They should be within .010 of each other. This is not a critical thing, you want them close but it doesn't have to be that close. - You can absolutely upgrade the spring kit with stock cams Glad you enjoy our videos! Thanks for watching!
