@@JonasKakarikas Hi, Jonas, are you still satisfied with the 9-5 NG Ttid, do you still own it? I'm thinking of switching from my 9-5 OG TiD from 2009 to a 2010 NG Ttid with similar mileage. Do you think it still makes sense? Regards, Mark
That car is so beautiful! I hope to see Saab in production in the future. My mom has year 2000 9-5 almost 400k km driven and still one of the best cars I've driven! Very underrated car.
This is the first Saab ever, that 10+ years since its appearance to the market, still looks fresh and not outdated design-wise. I love the design!!! This 9-5 was so good, I still remember the first time I saw it on the road because I hadn't been so amazed for years! It is a real pity that Saab didn't really have the chance to sell this car. The factory shut down after 2years of the last 9-5's release. In my country, only 3 are currently for sale. I am sure that these are going to be collectable in the future.
I don't have a sun roof but I tried the key fob lock /unlock with the Windows and mirror and it worked. Still learning new things even 2 years later . Educational review for me!👍👍😊
Very good review. You know more hands-on experience & differences than Doug will ever know. He can quote facts & figures but has no empathy. Well done. How can I find how many of my SAAB's there are, like you quote the panoramic sunroof numbers?
Hey my brother..proud to see that your passion for saab is keep us fans alive with hope , any ways I was wondering if u had a little time I wanted to get some insight on a build im doing on a saab 93 vert . Maybe u have a idea better than mine or the same in the direction I can go .. inbox me when u can
Great video Jonas. I love your alloy wheels. They look fantastic. I owns 2010 9-5 turbo6 Aero, but I don't have goodies like yours such as automatic folding mirrors, speed limit sign recognition, advanced parking assistance, spare tire, etc. You are absolutely right about the timing chain concern for turbo6. My car is almost 10,000 miles and the check engine light stays on recently after the engine starts. The code is P0101-00 and P0132-00. My Saab service shop believes the issue actually is due to that the timing chain have stretched enough to cause timing to go out the spec. The estimate for the replacement work is US $3600. I called the other shop and the quote is $6000. I guess the replacement of timing chain is a very labor intensive job and requires a trained technician with extensive mechanic experience. Before I replace the timing chain, I will seek the second opinion and validate whether the codes are really caused by the timing chain issue or about mass air flow sensor and high voltage oxygen sensor.
Yes, do the research first. If you have a place to Put the car it shouldnt be impossible to change it with the engine still in the car. I think there is some videos of People doing this job on The a28ner / a28net. The new material shouldnt be more than $4-500
Yep, you're so right. My 2010 Turbo6 has 101.000 KM down and I'm also "blessed" with a timingbelt that has to be changed and an oilpunp faillure for the xwd-system, both within the last 2.000KM. I should have gone for the TTID as well, but hey....., the V6 is a blast to drive.
My dad has a 2010 9-5 turbo6 and indeed we had a timing chain stretch. We changed the timing chain ourselves with the best new chains from GM USA. Costed only 600euros including shipping. We had never done anything like that. But with WIS you can do anything!
@@JonasKakarikas Btw your car looks really nice, and it's really cool that you have the panoramic sunroof. Ours being a 2010, so it doesn't have one. Then again ours does have the Head-Up Display which is also very nice!
Great review, I'm a long time Saab fan and have owned most models except this last [ NG] 9-5 and want to try it so thanks for such a comprehensive review. In Ireland dark roads and bad weather make Saab an ideal car . Safe, great defrosting and heating, the best headlamps and well the very best seats in the business. Does this model have the familiar Saab excellent seat? The few sold here are often now on replacement engine as are many of it's cousin Opel Insignia, is there a weakness like in early 2.0t ecopower engines that would starve of oil and cook sump? Thanks again. I hope I get to own one and that you continue to do reviews.
About SAAB diesel vs. petrol comparison: Is you can stand the sound when the car is running on idle, the diesel is a perfect choice 👍 Here in Finland we also have higher diesel taxes. However, I've made some calculations and if you're driving 9 000 kms or more a year and want to drive a SAAB, then driving a diesel SAAB is as cheap or even cheaper than a petrol SAAB.
Hey I have a Saab 95 Ng ttid Aero I am looking for the bottom ball joint on the front driver side same one in this video would you know a part number or any place in Ireland my first aero any information welcome
What's your opinion on reliability of newer SAABs? I've been interested in buying a NG but I have an '06 9-5 and have had a lot of electrical issues with the new GM setup that year, and later models seem to have the same/similar electronics. I have been looking for an '04 or '05 9-5 for that reason but I would really love to have a NG with XWD. What are your thoughts on this?
For reliability you need a diesel engine to start with. The xwd is good as long as you maintain it according to plan. It was only built during 1,5 years so there is some flaws that Saab hasnt worked out yet. But most of The problems are well known and there are fix for them. Og9-5 04-05 is The best 9-5 ever made in my opinion, exterior parts for The ng9-5 are crazy expensive Even in used condition... But The design and looks of the ng9-5 are Hard to beat, and it drives fantastic 👍
Jonas, excellent review thanks, what a beauty! One question...I'm looking at TTID4 myself 2011 - what you think it delivers in terms of fuel consumption on the motorway? I have a 130mile commute one way, so I sit at 70mph for around 2.5 hours...if I can get the same as my 9-3 TTID4, I'd so love to change to up the 9-5. Thanks so much.
Hi Jonas, I finally bought the same wheels, but 20` - last four from the production as they closed the Ocean oc-01 line and they won't be available anymore. Happy to have them, but it looks like You have the same problem - the design of the rim makes the blades protrude over the tire edge a bit and once You hit the curb, the rim is going to be heavily scratched :/ I tried to buy some tires with the protecting edge, but they were not available in my case (I went for all seasons 255/35/20).
@@JonasKakarikas Of course I'm not, but not matter how hard I try, I always hit 'em from time to time with my old 9-5 aero.. I suppose this car will be no different ;)
How often the petrol engine need chain replacement? only once I think in all life of engine ;) In my opinion the costs are acceptable in petrol engine. Regards ;) p.s beautiful color of yours new 9-5NG
Tinted windows in front of the T pillar is a really bad idea. Other motorist cant see where you are looking and if you have seen them. It makes for dangerous situations specially in city traffic.
@@JonasKakarikas Would be interesting to see how it actually works. There are little to know content about these NG95 tech functions, such as advanced parking, auto high beams etc.
Saab just didn't bring any Diesels to the US. You can get that 9-5 with v6T ot 2.0T AWD or FWD even with speed adaptive cruse control. Manual 2.0T only.
Hello Jonas, I got the same 95 ng with the Tid 2.0l am getting about 8 to 9l/100km. Please 🙏 help I think the fuel economy is bad. I removed the DPF and clean it , also the intake manifold/ egr actuator but no better results.. the engine is just quieter (lower engine noise) please help
@@JonasKakarikas Tyckte ljuset hängde med i kurvorna i video. Ahh okej .
So much for your money saabs. 💪👍. There so expensive now used examples. Few years ago cheap as chips nobody looked. Now with RU-vid and popularity loads going silly money most are junk. If you want a saab you need a top example or prepare for bills. Unless you're a Jonas spanner handy 😁
No DougScore? Just kidding. Watch every video, good job. I love the NG but stick with my 2000 estate for a while, that's the purest form for the OG's for me, I'm less of a fan of the 2002+ OG's
The build quality is real not better than a NG 9-3, everything is less thick, in fact the car is cheap built. For example the plastic covers on the seats, the buttons that peal off...it is a beautiful car but it isn't build well.
All modells has their flaws, The window trim on ng9-3 has bubbly rust on most cars, door handles easy gets "flimsy"... Rust issues with both front and rear fenders suck on ng9-3. The ng9-5 is more solid build overall
@@JonasKakarikas bad comparison, the NG9-3 is older. The NG9-3 from 2011 has not that rust issues. With the 9-5 it isn’t a matter of flaws rather more that the car was not ready and they quick pushed the cars out to gain money.
@@JonasKakarikas 2 diesels 😬 and back to 9-3 for me a far better car. The 9-5’s newer things ar things we mis on a 9-3 however, the 9-3 is a better car and you can drive it with peace of mind.
Yes it's a Vauxhall/Holden Not to sure what the original base was.... Insignia or Vectra. Whatever happens just remember one thing..... It's worth its weight in scrap considering SAAB went bust over 10years ago.
@@JonasKakarikas no saab soul 95.96.99.90.900 and 9000s were reals saabs ive got most of these models including the gm s not in the same league as the old ones just my opinion having specialised in saab repair from 1975 until 1998
