Indian sweet | festival | Indian | saat | badusha | mangalore | udupi | kundapura style
Plain flour / Maida - ½ cup
Clarified butter / ghee - 1 tbsp
Salt - less than a pinch
Water - little less than ⅛ cup
Method:
1. Add all the above ingredients one by one except water into a clean mixing bowl.
2. Now add little less than ⅛ cup of water and knead the dough.
3. Check for the consistency.
4. Rest the dough for about 30 min.
5. After 30 min, divide the dough into 4 equal portions.
6. Bring each portion of dough together and press in between.
7. Heat oil on medium high flame.
8. To check if the oil is hot enough, put a small dough piece to the hot oil, the dough must float. That means the oil is hot enough.
9. Carefully fry the dough one by one.
10. Turn to fry both sides.
11. Fry till golden brown.
12. Saat is ready. Keep this aside.
13. Once it’s perfectly fried keep this aside.
Making sugar syrup:
Method:
1. Now keep ¼ cup of sugar and ⅛ cup of water for boil.
2. Stir to dissolve the sugar.
3. Look for single thread consistency.
4. Now immerse the fried saat in the sugar syrup, ensuring it’s completely coated.
5. Pour the remaining sugar syrup over all the pieces.
6. Allow the poured sugar syrup on the saat pieces to dry completely.
7. Saat is ready.
