the original 2 with the men and girls saying SERA MUUUUUUUN are the most iconic imo, i always remember doing the pose as a child like when they said it i would always turn like Sailor Moon in the spotlight lmao memories.
I love how on the Super Famicom Sailor Moon R game, between each stage, you get this eyecatch. And if you play as Chibi-USA, you get a special one that plays, she literally jumps right in front of Usagi, stealing her spotlight, all the while Usagi has this look on her face like, "oh no you idn't just do that".
I love how, "Sailor Moon Super", which says " Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon S" is so joyful and happy and how Sailor moon winks and it makes a little heart!💕😛😛🙂😁😁
The eyecatch was duplicated in the Super Famicom game. However, it would appear glitched if you didn't know Sailor Moon was standing on a stage. I bought the Viz remakes, and it felt like seeing it for the first time, all over again. I enjoyed it. Viz was also how I saw SailorStars. Getting information online about stuff in Japan was difficult back in the 1990s. As a result, far more stuff was lost in translation.
The Crystal eyecatches just didn't seem as catchy as the original anime. Though the sihouetted faces just seemed a little creepy for the Crystal eyecatches.
I don't know if those count as silhouettes because silhouettes have the body completely black so you can't really tell who it is. They only did this for the song but I agree with you.
It’s actually a classic anime trope, using the black silhouettes (yes they can still be called that) is very common and be seen in a lot of early shojo anime - revolutionary girl utena and oniisama e for example.

As they say in US TV, the bills gotta be paid (in reference to commercials), seems like in Japan there's only that middle break, to break up acts of the show, and nothing more. Modern anime still sort of has these, but they aren't as flashy as 80's and 90's anime eyecatches.
