Well they don't lol. I am a sailor moon fan and fan of anime. If you think of it from a normal person doesn't watch anime point of view it really looks white washed. What real Asian has natural blonde, blue, turquoise hair? If think about it Asian culture pretty much white washed themselves believe that having light colored skin is attractive. In reality they look pretty with their tan skin not covering themselves in light foundation shade or coloring their hair to unatural shades.

I won't consume it though, I don't like it. Some countries consider drawn pictures of minor characters to be equivalent to the real deal, which I think is silly. There's real sick people out there doing real bad things to real kids and there's task forces in some countries allocating resources to shutting down hentai websites or going after weebs that consume it. As for the topic of the video, none of this was porn as far as I can tell. I replied "normal skin colour" thinking normal was basically a synonym to majority. He got a laugh out of it, and asked me to explain. I explained that he had my skin colour, (what I meant was race, and actually skin colour, but I was kid, what do you expect?) He was Mexican but looked white, just like me. It was embarrassing.

This is what happens when we share. Different opinions from different cultures, it's just the way it is. I would not say Americans don't think the world revolves around them because that would not be entirely true for many Americans but when you share your art especially from other cultures...well...here you go. Don't think skin color is the deal here, I think it's the eyes. Japanese anime artist rarely depict their character with Asian eyes. If I saw somebody drawing black people with straight hair and orange skin I might be inclined to say something. I always thought that Asian were ashamed of their features is why they chose to go the Caucasian route. The amount of money on eyelid surgery Japanese, Korean and Chinese people get done on themselves a year kind of proves that. Just saying, if you're drawing a Japanese character in particular it might be helpful to draw them in that likeness.

Here's the thing though, and it's something I think every fan of anime/manga needs to understand. I would say about 90% of anime/manga takes place in high school or junior high. All genres and subgenres typically include people in the 14-17 age group. A lot of these anime/manga include "nsfw" shots. Panties, bra, after-bath towels or showing them in the tub, and some that are more sexual in nature. If this was a problem, and if people didn't like this, these shows/novels wouldn't be printed and sold. Even in more serious/violent shows/novels have 16 year old girls having sex, i.e. Gantz, Berserk, Dead Tube, and out of those three I would argue basically every anime fan has seen or read Berserk at some point, yet people aren't getting offended at that. Actually, I'm pretty sure that one anime that has gotten pretty popular lately is Domestic Girlfriend, where two high school kids have sex, one of them also having sex with an adult. I don't remember anyone having issues with the adult female having sex with the 16 year old male MC. The thing I'm getting that is if you are a fan of anime, get used to seeing girls and guys of various ages in NSFW fashion. A lot of the times the artists themselves will put a risque artwork of a character in the chapter intro, even though in the main story they don't show anything sexual. While we in the Western world tend to hate any reference to underage anyone being sexual, it is more accepted in Japan, and it's something that we cannot change. Remember that those artists aren't trying to appeal to us, so they don't care if us in the West get offended.
