I first had this at work. A nice lady made a bunch of it and called it candy crack. Silly me thought it was called that because it was so addictive (you can't stop eating it). Now I understand it's because it's made with crackers. The saltiness of the cracker combined with the sweetness of the chocolate is pure heaven. If you are watching your weight don't get within 50 feet of this.

I told you I would give you a recipe and sorry it's taken me so long but here it is. Not sure if you remember but it was "Atlantic Beach Pie". Your saltine candy made me want to give you this recipe. 1& 1/2 sleeve of saltines. 1/2 cup real butter softened to room temp. 3 Tlbs. Sugar. Crush saltines and combine with softened butter and sugar. After well mixed press into a 9 " pie pan. Cool in frig. for 30 min. before baking. Bake at 350° for 18 min. Then set aside to completely cool. In med bowl combine 1/2 cup of lemon juice or lime juice or a combination of the both of them to make 1/2 cup. Add 1 can of condensed (eagle brand) milk and 4 egg yolks to the lemon juice and mix until smooth. Pour into cooled pie crust and bake 16 min. at 350°. When cooled sprinkle lightly with kosher salt or sea salt. Top with cool whip when served. Please let me know if you like it. I honestly think that the saltine crust makes the pie. Hope you enjoy it.🤗

Oh, my! I just discovered this the other day and made it up. The only trick for me (Celiac) means gluten free. Didn’t like the idea of using any of the nut crackers because they’d disintegrate or be the wrong texture. Found a brand called “Cracklebred Original” mostly rice flour and corn flour. Very thick and airy. They are *perfect* for a gluten free version of this and just might be better than saltines! No breaking your teeth using these crackers as they break with just the right crunch.

Oh mt goodness that would be great. I live in Northern Michigan. I know North Carolina very well because my hubby and I worked down there for a few years traveling back and forth for a company up here. It was so wonderful there. we were in the outer banks quite a lot even when Matthew hit and that was scary considering we are not used to that kind of weather. Well a warm welcome to my channel my new friend...Have a lovely evening...

For myself, I wouldn't place aluminum foil over the top bc one drop of condensation will make your chocolate seize. I did see you let a gap with the foil so it may not be an issue ... just saying if you let those chips sit there uncovered for 3 to 5 mins they will spread easily bc that caramel is so hot.:o)
@LittleVillageHomestead

Very nice to know, I have always covered with foil and left a gap but it does not produce enough steam to be an issue it just keeps the heat longer...Thank you.
