Brennan "there is no corner of my soul that I wouldn't turn over for 5 points" Lee Mulligan Brennan "achieves nirvana just to win a game" Lee Mulligan Yeah, that's one hell of a brand
@@LuxInfinitaBrennan "unflinchingly watches what appears to be his phone get smashed" Lee Mulligan Brennan "IT'LL BE A COLD DAY IN HELL WHEN I GO OUT LIKE A FUCKIN' CHUMP" Lee Mulligan
@@bugbear2357 Another line from BLeeM from the same survivor episode. "Do you think I fuck around." that applies to pretty much any context in any given scenario.
Lightly convinced that Sam said the hand thing was a joke only because he was afraid Brennan would elaborate on the "Give myself a hand?!" point, in unnecessary detail.
"Give *myself* *a* HAND, gang? Well, let's take ourselves a little wander down the Ole linguistic highway that is the modern English language back to the most Southern fjord of 1320 Norway, friends, where we learn where the word HJANDER is about to make it's way across a benighted sea to jolly old England. For it is not, fellow meta-informational scholar, from the Latin METATARSUS that the word for hand first presents itself to us with all the fancy "S"es that we've come to know and love. No, my dear co-voyagers of dictionarial expedition, it is not from those olive tree embued shores this word has traveled, nor from the fictional beaches from which VIKINGS first longboated themselves. FICTIONAL, you ponder, you intrepid vocabularian, FICTIONAL? Yes, FICTIONAL, as the word was a verb, "to go a-Viking" by a group of particularly bloodthirsty individuals in search of plunder whom might otherwise farm and trade, and not a name of a people accepted from others nor proclaimed from themselves until later bestowed upon them centuries hence by those to lazy to upkeep the difference. It is from this very heaving-to spot that we confidently exact that we received the word into our dialect that we have to thank for the eventual permutation of "give yourself a hand" that we can safely, dear SAMUEL, accept that the singular and plural both arrive to the meaning of my clapping, dear SIR. "LET THIS CORNER OF MY SOUL BE CONSIDERED FULLY EXPOSED FOR THE WANT OF A POINT!" Izzy: "Okay, calm down." (also, just made all that up off the top of my dome for the sake of a Brennan rant, please don't start taking any of that as an actually fact.) (Well, except about "a-Viking", but everything else is pure silly.)
@@High-LordHarza I can't quite remember the comand but I think it was similar to the last bit in the video "give yourself a hand", where the last word of his sentence could be heard one way or the other but was too on the nose for izzy I think haha
I would argue that Izzy shouldn't have lost points the second time around for the harmonizing trap because it's not harmonizing if she was the only one singing.
@@jovanhawksmithtechnically he didn't say "Sam Says this is the end of the game", so him stating it's the end of the game would be an illegal command and thus the game continues.
Brennan proudly stroking the podium and arrogantly looking at the Camera when his winning point total was spoken aloud pretty much summed up Brennan entirely as a contestant on this show.
"There is no corner of my heart I would not turn over to the world for 5 points" And to stand through the torture of this gameshow is absolute proof of this statement.
It's consistent with other point losses. Simply attempting to complete a non-Sam directive is enough to penalize you, you dont need to successfully do the thing.
Brennan's look at the camera at the end. "I DM, which is a job that runs on rules, and I have to manage other people who work together for HOURS AT A TIME looking for ways to break those rules. So yeah. I can do rules games."
To be fair, when Sam said "Sam says press your pinkies together," followed by "Keep them there," Sam never said "Sam says stop touching your pinkies together." "Sam says" is their trigger phrase to change their behavior. Even if a command is given to keep doing the last "Sam says" without saying "Sam says" they gotta treat that command like you never heard it, so they gotta treat it as if "Sam says touch your pinkies together" is their current command.
Didn't brennan immediately after clarify the opposite? "Following the previous command is secondary to not following a command not given in the proper format" was what he said and those seemed to be the rules they followed.
@@thewrens_ I don't know, I didn't watch the episode. I can't afford subscription services. I just leech off clips that get uploaded to RU-vid. At least in my mind, when you call something a "trigger phrase" it's the phrase that dictates your behavior.
@@ThatGamerDude9000 Same honestly! Luckily this one was actually uploaded as a full episode to youtube (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vT-zZsjwZKk.html) and tbh i get it, its not intuitive but that actually kinda adds to the fun of watching the full episode lol
@@ThatGamerDude9000 Technically they did press their pinkies together as per the original instruction, so removing them wouldn't violate it AND it disobeys a wrongful order.
"they gotta treat the command like you never heard it" That's the part where it's not right. You just don't follow the instruction. Usually not an important distinction, but it is here.
Pretty sure Sam said the "give yourself a hand" one was a joke only because he could feel the hate from Brennan and he knew that a "GET IN THE COMMENTS!" was coming
Never really agreed with the point deduction on them keeping their pinkies touching. Because thats technically an inaction on their part. And Sam didnt say to do anything else, which would also be a point deduction had they done something.
But he said "Keep them there" which they obeyed, which deducts the point. As Brennan says, maintaining a previous command is secondary to disobeying a false command
@@theinacircleoftheancientpu492 It wasn't clearly defined, _until_ they demonstrated that it would lose them points for blindly assuming it was an off-hand comment. It was instrumental in teaching them that _everything_ Sam says is important to discern.
I was following along irl because I thought it'd be fun and was ready to mail that man a pipe bomb when he said "I only said 'give yourselves a *hand'"* after I clapped at the end.
This is one of those episodes that really does feel like Sam is a chaos god who has trapped the dropout crew in his gameshow where he torments them for a half hour
These clips go to show that Sam Reich is an evil stand user. His ability 「 Dropout 」 has the power to spontaneously summon any contestants and a crew to produce a random death game. The results of which may reward you... or can tear a grown man's soul apart.
@CandygramMongo technically you can, in fact we harmonize all the time, our hearing is just weird like that and filters out dominant vibrations in that harmony, you can make 2ndary vibrations sound stronger by altering your mouth and tongue and harmonize that way
Interestingly, Sam did a whoopsie. He said: "Simon says that your trigger phrase is BACK TO SAM SAYS" He then said "Sam says" and not "Back to sam says"
the only hill I will die on is that Izzy should not have lost a point for harmonizing to the wrong trigger word BECAUSE to harmonize you need TWO OR MORE notes and Izzy is ONLY ONE PERSON, THUS UNABLE TO HARMONIZE BY HERSELF AND UNABLE TO BREAK THE RULE BY HERSELF. I'm genuinely mad about this because I'm more pedantic than Sam Reich
When Sam says "Simon says your trigger phrase is now back to Sam says" and then immediately gives the phrase "Sam says" he could have been Um Actually'd because the trigger phrase was then "back to Sam says"
you know what I just realized? Sam didn't take Lou's point away on that last "give yourself a hand" prompt.. And I don't think any of them actually tries not doing the prompt at all (even ones beginning with 'Sam Says') apart from that one time So we don't actually know if not doing the prompt will result in point deduction.. ..there may be a universe where one of them realizes this and found a foolproof plan of simply doing nothing..
