@@TheRedKipp Source? I’ve looked for hours and I can’t find anything about where he’s from. I don’t think he’s ever said it, and frankly, I don’t think anyone’s ever asked.
I like how there’s absolutely no reason for Grant eating a bonsai tree to be in this video, but it’s something everyone needs to see so it’s here anyways
Just imagine Sam going on a date or meeting a potential friend and it's just: "So, where are you from?" And he has to calm down before answering because of this running gag
I just love how Rekha misremembers Copley Square Theater as "Crumbly Square", and Trapp, despite having gotten the movie theater right in a previous attempt, decides to use "Crumbly Square" moving forward.
@@skarloey2808 Google says there used to be a Copley Theater in Dartmouth Street. Could it be possible that it's been bought and rebranded by one of the big cinema chains? Or is Sam misremembering another theater in Massachusetts?
@@romxxii I read a little on it and all the info is super vague I think the name wasn’t copley theater since the 60s. Sams not that old. Maybe Coolidge corner theater?
The exeter street theater was doing movies until 84 and is now a school I think and is very much Copley square. The current movie theater around there is just the AMC on the common which is a few minutes walk from Copley so it's not that unreasonable
the wuestion of wheres he from was not the funniest part of grants bit, the comedy was recognizing the moment of discomfort and doubling down on it. Not to downplay grant - his movie theater bit was pretty flawlessly executed.
@@A_Weird_Angel 2:42. “How do you like them apples?” is a quote from Good Will Hunting, a 1997 movie that starred and was written by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, who Sam referenced. It was shot in and around Cambridge, Massachusetts (Sam’s hometown) and is about a janitor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology who turns out to be a genius.
Funny but also sad when Rheka says "you could build up this comedy company and then watch it all wither away" and Sam jusy kinda goes "yeah that's a... fear"
Does anyone know where Sam is from? He seems like the kind of guy who had access to some really cool media as a kid. Probably had a killer movie theater in his home town.
Btw- the new episode of game changer is SO good that I couldn't clip it. It's just 30 minutes of straight magic and I didn't want to cut any one piece out. Get dropout ✌🏻️
@@wishiwasmaren2608 Dropout. It's College Humor's streaming service. The price just went up, unfortunately, but they might have one of those trial things, I don't know.
The running joke that spawned from it was fantastic, don't get me wrong, but I still feel like nothing that came after ever lived up to "Do you remember being a little boy, walking into the Copley Square Theater? The air conditioning just right? The chill in the air? A bucket of fragrant popcorn right on your lap?" *"Well, now what if you didn't have any of that?"*
Grant: inspired personal twist to sell a product. Rekha: Same but also funny Trapp: This is a fun bit and I have to join in here but I'm also going to make it my own Rekha: Same but also funny
One underrated moment of this video: Nobody can stop Grant from putting things in his mouth and swallowing. (To quote Brennan: “Hi, I’m 50? That can’t be right…”)
The best part of this bit is that there is no Copley Square Theater and Copley Square isn't even in Cambridge. Sam couldn't remember the name of the actual theater he went to and made it up.
Grant working this in to the Bachelor episode was fantastic. I hope that one day you make a sequel to this with all of the inevitable further callbacks to this.
I'm glad it costs $50 to watch this show because that means I never have to feel guilty about procrastinating watching it all the time when I'm constantly seeing clips online
I recently went to mass to visit my sister, my dad went to college there and met his best friend at the theater he used to work at. They're still friends to this day, and that best friend just so happened to grow up with my mom, so he introduced them at a softball game. True love ever since. Well my dad pointed to an old theater building and said "there it is, Copley square theater, that's the reason I met your mom" boy oh boy, I'm so glad this theater is known by so many people. It's the reason I exist!
I'm from Barbados and as of quite recently my country no longer has Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as our head of state. I now accept Rehka Shankar as my queen.
I sent an email to Sam asking where he was from and what his local movie theater was, but all I got was a reply of “PPPPPPPPP PPPPPPPPPPPPP PPP PPP PPPPPPP PPPPP PPPPPPP”
The number of times they asked it should have made that joke un-funny but it didn't 😂 I still laughed every time. Btw, I hope there's a version where the 2nd sellout episode is included 😆
One of my favorite little moments is Grant blissfully describing the theatre, then just pausing before saying “Now, what if you didn’t have any of that?” 😂
