Show me a 70 something year old frontman that can still crush it as good as 20 years ago, and, well, there isn’t. How blessed are we to relive the 80s , 40 years later? An American national treasure.
@@rodrich1644 guys Rogers played so infrequently, it is easy to come out once a decade for a bunch of shows. Same with Deyoung, Jagger, and Macdonald, they all sound great mostly because they do not tour that often. Sammy has been steady over the years playing a bunch of shows a year (Solo, Chicken Foot, the Circle) to keep his team and org paid. Plus his AXS show etc. I agree Sammy for 77 sounded great, might not have that scream anymore like in 95, and might need Mickey to hit the highest notes, but it was still Sammy and it was great to hear him again.
We just saw the Stones and they still were able to put on good show. But I agree there are few left and the singing and energy put out by this show is just incredible. Just shows you that age is really just a number.
SEVENTY SIX Years OLD and Sammy sounds freaking great! It’s hard to believe how well his voice has held up singing hard rock for so, so many years/shows! What a great band (Michael, Joe, Jason, Rai) ! Thx for posting.
This is just awesome. Man, I could talk about how Sam and Mikey ain't jumping around and the audience isn't frothing and swirling around like we did back in the day, but we're all old and our backs hurt lol. Close your eyes and this sounds like 30+ years ago.... God bless em all, who thought we'd be here in 2024?! Thanks for filming))
@fuzzo73 I'm not mentioning their performance, yes they are old..no problem. Sam's vocals are bad and I see he needs help from Mike. And the tour just started.
Can we talk about how Sammy cannot sing a David Lee Roth song because he don’t have the swagger or the range even though people think he’s all in mighty which he is not what an embarrassment to the old Van Halen
@drcuda71 I am disappointed that Sammy spoke of deep cuts then are only playing Hagar era songs. I am a big Hagar fan but I have to keep it real. Satriani's playing is okay, but now I realize how far behind he is to Eddie.
@@SAMBADASSES facts that satch is many steps behind Eddie. And they call deep cuts jump, and ain’t talking about love and he has a back up singer and his backup singer singing lead on them. very weak. Its a joke. Can you say Chaching on Eddie‘s name? Again!! Tribute my ass!!
@@drcuda71y’all need to calm down. For dudes in their 70s, Sammy and Mike sound great, much better than Dave currently sounds. Obviously they aren’t going to sound like prime Van Halen (just like axl rose sounds nothing like prime GnR anymore). And Sammy said it’s up to Michael as to what and how many pre-Hagar Van valen songs they play. Sammy explicitly said this is a Sammy Hagar show, not a Van Halen show/tour. So if you’re not happy with the show then you personally have a VH problem.
This was a good one. I'm glad I was there last night. Satriani was kicking it. I almost thought I was listening to Eddie. Joe Walsh was there and many other Legends all around me to see how Joe held up to Eddies Performance. I gotta say he nailed it.
I was really impressed at how good they sounded live, it was loud crisp clear and crunchy. Jason’s drum sound was huge. A great show, I was dreading driving up to Alpharetta but it was worth it!
We just have to acknowledge the fact that it takes some enormous balls to jeopardize your legacy when revisiting these tunes…. Sammy is fucking 76!? 😮 What a gracious and honest way to honor the soundtrack to my youth. I truly enjoyed this video a lot… Thank you for recording 🙏🏻 Also, hats off to Joe for daring to stand in on THAT spot. Well done - and RESPECT!! 🙌🏻❤️🎸
I LOVED VH growing up and sadly, didn't see them until 1988 after Hagar joined. All my favorite VH songs are Roth-era songs, for sure. However, the fact that Sammy and Michael Anthony are on stage with Satriani in 2024 just killing it amazes me.
Hell yes! I thank you we the fans thank you awesome tribute to Alex n Eddie van Halen period. I'm thoroughly rocked!! Jason,Mike,Joe,Sammy awesome job thanks again!!
THIS IS totally amazing ! I GET why Alex didnt want to be involved. He couldn't bring himself to play these songs without his brother.. Thank GOD for Jason Bonham..... GOD BLESS them all! Sammy Mike & Joe & Jason...
Fans are so lucky in the US....legendary artists performing at such an high level...always been a fan of Sammy starting with Montrose to present say.. outstanding talents..please give the fans in the UK and Europe chance to experience the band playing live...🇺🇸✌️🇬🇧
@@johnhillier6606 Whatever go see the red rocker I’ll pass. He wants to do a tribute to Eddie but meanwhile all he does is talk shit about him. Kiss and tell and then make some money. Poser looking for the spotlight. DLR has definitely gone from rock icon to a lounge act lol He looks like Steve Martin on crack.
I was at Tampa , just like this one NOBODY seat by a minute ,also as humble as he is always signing stuff in the middle of songs for the fans, far apart class act SH. Mad Anthony earned the DLR songs ,nailed all the way.
It's funny, and sad, all the hate comments. Sammy is 76, 76! The show was great, everyone was great. And, the Most important thing, *no one else* tried to, let alone put this together! *No one else* has done a Real tribute to Eddie and Van Halen. So from me, thanks for uploading and sharing this. And thanks to these 4 Great musio's for doing this. I can't wait for when other Great musio's join them on tour and do cameos. Eddie is the King, and deserves this tribute, thanks Sammy, Mikey, Joe and Jason... To the haters, I hope you enjoy the next Taylor Swift concert you go to...
@@TheMightyVanHalen It is a tribute to the music they played together, and to honor him by playing those songs, but it is not an EVH Tribute show. It is Sammy playing what he wants to play, on one more tour before he cannot do it anymore. The dude is 77 in 3 months.
@@TheMightyVanHalen Eddie played lots of non VH songs. Sammy, Mikey and Joe have all said in interviews, they wanted to do this for a Long time , to tribute to Eddie, and the music. And they played Van Halen in the concert all right... I don't know what your issue is, but try to listen to the music, enjoy and chill out...
Over my 64 years I have had some very unique experiences growing up in the LA music scene,I didn’t even realize how incredible my life was at the time. Working for (separately) the Azoff brothers ( Ron Azoff. RIP ) I was was asked to perform many tasks and as a reward I had access to the LA music scene which consistently included the Van Halen final rehearsal every year mostly at Zoetrope. David was a cool guy,Michael was the absolute best,Eddie was so so and don’t even start with Alex ( doesn’t like people, I don’t blame him) But every time you meet Sammy he’s humble but very also very Sammy. Michael you’re always great he never forgets were he came from.
@@jimmyz2098 thank you. As I said I didn’t even know what I was experiencing at the time. But I wouldn’t trade my memories and experiences with anyone . I’ve had a great great life and I’m not done yet. Take care and enjoy life your self. It’s a daily gift.
This is awesome, was waiting to see how Joe would sound not quite Eddie but nevertheless Joe is badass Ed was Ed Joe is Joe I don't have much to say about Jason but awesome, Michael always outstanding, Sammy I'm speechless freaking awesome what ever where ever when ever you perform, wish there was no editing in this video
Thanks for posting this! I'll be at the Saratoga Springs show on Monday, 7/22 and this was an awesome preview for me. Sammy has been on my bucket list for soooo many years. This show is a dream come true! Rock on Red Rocker from this Sammy!
I live in Georgia, but unfortunately didn’t know about this till the day it happened. Could kick myself in the ass for missing this. Loved Van Halen when I was young with Dave, and it worked out perfectly that Sammy came in when I was older and appreciating their new style of music.
Sounds quite good! Thanks for the upload. They are firing on all cylinders it seems! Sammy is 76 years old, and his voice is spot on! And Mike's back up harmonies are stellar. Yes, this is still Van Halen! The keyboardist is great (don't know his name). Joe is nailing the guitar. And Jason has the right groove on the drums! Mike's bass playing is absolutely epic. I am so glad they managed to get this show and tour together!
GREAT to HEAR THESE SONGS BEING PERFORMED LIVE AGAIN !!! ……THIS STUFF NEEDS TO BE HEARD AND FELT NOT JUST BY US WHO FIRST WITNESSED IT BUT BY THE NEW YOUNGER GENERATION TOO ❤❤❤….FIRE OUT EDWARD’S MUSIC OUT THERE TO THE WORLD 🌎 TO JOYOUSLY CELEBRATE!!! and SAMMYS !! 🙏👊💪💪💥💥💥💥💥⚡️⚡️⚡️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💥💥💥 (Paul )
I loved it - thanks for uploading. I echo a comment earlier. Close your eyes and it could be EVH and the band at the peak of their career. Thanks for keeping this amazing music alive. Please come to see us in the UK.
I have seen them in all forms - DLR was amazing - I saw him solo a few times with Vai on guitar plus on one occasion warrant as back up band. IMO keeping the music live is brilliant. Whilst nobody will ever be EVH - Joe is amazing- bit like Zakk with Pantera - respect to the dead RIP IMO
@@SidMalkin if you like real rock and roll with an edge, go with Van Halen. If you like corny rock ballads and pop-rock songs that sound like they belong in Pepsi commercials and Tom Cruise movies, go with Van Hagar
Me, too! And I'm going to catch them twice in California. I'm so excited. Thanks to my mom I've been listening to these songs my entire life 🤟🏼RIP, Eddie🤟🏼
This is really the best of both worlds… 3 Dave Era songs, 3 Sammy Solo songs, and the rest Van Hagar. Glad to see that the Dave years are just as represented as Mikey and Sammy were advertising😬
If he did not advertise the Dave songs he would still be playing little clubs. He's not a headliner even with his Van Halen songs. The crowd roars when they hear Dave's songs.
@@timesreporter8402 what I just can’t wrap my head around is that this was meant to be a van halen tribute tour yet Sammy still fills the set with just as much Dave era songs as songs from his solo band. He’d rather play his own songs that repay his promise of equal Dave and Hagar era songs
Seen Sammy in the 70's a couple times. Once more @ MOR with VH in the 80's. Still pretty good, jeez, what a life. Still put on that old live lp sometimes. My era.
2nd comment: Forgot to mention that I’ve seen Van Halen twice. Chicago right after they released the 2nd album and during their tour with Wolfie. They were so loud the first time and drunk but still nailed it. This sounds very good.
What a show! So good to see and hear some Van Halen live here in 2024. What? I thought Running With The Devil was on the setlist. Had Michael Anthony singing it.
Wish they were coming to England - pretty good for some old gits... Although I'm not keen on the lower keys and slower tempos....so maybe it's for the best...
Saw the same keyboardist on the G3 tour. Couldn't hear a note then and here as well! Great paycheck though.. 51:00 he shines.. Intro to Jump his NORD is cranked..as soon as Joe comes in it disappears..."When It's Love" as well..... Eddie is rolling in his grave over this mix... Eddie's legacy isn't just his guitar playing.. He recorded EPIC keyboard parts.....OKI I said it...
