From SF. You didn't get the full experience. You gotta go to the beach and hang out with people wearing masks in the water in 2023. That's the SF I know.
I live in Napa and just come to sf for the food and good vintage shopping head over to haight street and back home. I stay away from all the main tourist areas besides that
The last time I was in San Fran, I saw within an 8 hr window: a homeless street performer playing a violin without any strings. An elderly hobo woman eating a sandwich she pulled from a trashcan right next to a fine dining patio while people watched and completely stopped eating. A guy jogging with a tanktop and zero pants or underwear. A man walking around with one shoe yelling to himself, "And I told them! That's MY F'ING KID!!!" A guy that looked exactly like DMX walk up, sit on a bench right next to the bench I was sitting on, and start talking to himself about people keeping him down and how he's going to kill them. Too many homeless people to count, sleeping on the sidewalk, that I had to walk around, sometimes going into the street, or step over. Alleys I wanted to go down to get from A to B, but saw people that made it a no-go zone. .... it's an amazing city that looks like the universe glitched and merged a 3rd world country on top of it.
In the bustling city of San Francisco, where the contrasting realities of wealth and poverty collide, an adventurous traveler found themselves immersed in a captivating tale that unfolded within the span of just eight hours. It was a sunny day, and as the traveler strolled down the streets of San Francisco, they were immediately drawn to a peculiar sight. On a busy sidewalk, a homeless street performer stood proudly with a violin in hand. But to the traveler's surprise, the instrument had no strings. Undeterred by this apparent setback, the performer began to move the bow across the empty space, producing hauntingly beautiful melodies that echoed through the surrounding buildings. As the traveler continued their journey, they encountered an elderly hobo woman nearby. With an air of defiance, she pulled a sandwich from a trash can and proceeded to enjoy it unabashedly. The scene unfolded right next to a fine dining patio, where patrons were captivated by the sight, their own meals momentarily forgotten. It was a reminder that even in the face of adversity, the human spirit can find moments of simple pleasure. Further along, the traveler's eyes widened in disbelief as they witnessed a man jogging through the streets wearing only a tank top, completely devoid of pants or underwear. His carefree demeanor and commitment to individuality left passersby bewildered yet strangely intrigued, as they glimpsed a small fraction of the city's eccentricities. In the midst of this whirlwind of curiosities, the traveler's attention was suddenly captured by a man walking around with only one shoe. He fervently shouted to no one in particular, exclaiming, "And I told them! That's MY F'ING KID!!!" His impassioned declaration echoed through the air, revealing fragments of a personal struggle and a deep-rooted determination. Just as the traveler began to process the magnitude of these encounters, another figure emerged from the city's vibrant tapestry. A man bearing an uncanny resemblance to the legendary rapper DMX took a seat on a nearby bench. Engulfed in an intense internal monologue, he lamented the perceived injustices inflicted upon him and vowed to overcome the obstacles that sought to hold him back. His presence evoked a mixture of awe and sympathy, as the traveler couldn't help but ponder the complex realities hidden beneath the surface. Throughout the day, the traveler found themselves navigating a cityscape interlaced with countless stories of struggle, resilience, and contradiction. Sidewalks became makeshift beds for those without shelter, necessitating detours into the busy streets or agile footwork to step over those in slumber. Alleys, once potential shortcuts, transformed into forbidden passages due to the individuals who claimed them as their own. As the traveler reflected upon their experience, they realized that San Francisco, like a universe with a glitch, embodied the coexistence of two worlds. It was a city of stark contrasts, where grandeur and destitution brushed shoulders, and where the human condition, in all its complexity, was laid bare. From the homeless street performer playing an ethereal melody on a stringless violin to the encounters with individuals battling their own demons, San Francisco became more than just a city-it became a microcosm of humanity itself. It was a place where the fabric of society frayed and rewove itself, where the most unexpected encounters became woven into the traveler's own story, forever imprinting the city's remarkable spirit in their memory.
I live in san francisco, and I can confirm everything Tim says. Our Politicians have failed us. specifically Mayor London Breed, and our Governor Gavin Newsom. They both live in million dollar plus homes, and are isolated from reality. Should recall them tbh
politicians didn't fail you. the voter base literally voted for this. right wingers tried to stop it but voting ain't going to work when most voters are freaking white women. they love the politics of San Fran and LA.
They’ll have to make it safe for tourists - reinforced glass tunnels through the danger zones perhaps like in an aquarium so people can watch the sharks cruise by as they eat their popcorn and ice cream
Lived in Seattle for a few years. Had my car broken into four times and watched people shoot up outside my building where I paid 1600 a month for 525 square feet. Needless to say I moved back to Detroit where nothing bad happened to me in 27 years.
I moved from San Francisco after living there for 54 years, and I left not a second too soon. The politicians in SF should be tried for criminal negligence, horrible!
The people should have to stay. You elected the politicians and their policies allowed you to have enough wealth to spread to a better community. You ARE the cancer that killed san Francisco.
Disaster tourism is literally what I do to friends that come to LA. I take them on a drive thru Figueroa and show them the girls walking the streets in 10 inch heels and lingerie. That’s the real shit
@@DJFaNaTiiC damn, I should ditch my wife and two children, drain the bank account and head for the airport. 1 out of 10 is much better than I would have thought.
They are also the two states with the 2 largest cities in the country. Economic instability, rising rent prices, stagnant wages, and a homelessness boom will surely drive sensible people away
Yeah but people moved back to NY at least. Bc NYC at least had enough moderates to be like "WTF is going on" and elected Eric Adams. SF never had any voice of reason these last 5 years
@@Loco5919 yes i remember a man with no legs fall out of his wheelchair and writhe around in an intersection outside of the civic centre burger king. he didn't seem that bothered cause he was high af. his cohort of two dozen insane drug addicts nearby did nothing to help him. cars drove around him, nobody stopped to help. you're right, the media is lying. san francisco is chill.
@@Loco5919 they’re not lying, ur cousin just doesn’t experience this in his day to day life. My grandma is rich and lives in San Fran and she sees little to no homeless, but if u go looking for it you’ll find a lot of it
The difference is - industry left Detroit because of competition and downsizing - meanwhile terrible policies are just causing all of the still productive companies and people to leave

@@nonfunctioningtesticles224 no you birdbrain it’s only bc of the outsourcing. Don’t blame the unions wtf??? Are you fuckin anti union? We need strong unions and workers rights, AND the US gov’t should make it so American companies can’t outsource, then it wouldn’t be a problem. And if they wanna leave America bc of that they can’t sell here. But the American gov’t doesn’t give a fuck about the American people just profits. Otherwise this never would have happened and Americans would have gotten paid their fair share and kept all those good jobs. We still deserve that today and we can have that in America today but it’s more profitable to have things like they are now.
So confidently incorrect. Remote work is the primary reason for sf’s downturn. It’s core industries were particularly well suited to pivoting to it and few people that worked in those industries moved to sf for anything but to work and party and go camping, they put down no real roots. Mismanagement from the city govt only helped things get worse. But it’s all about money, not politics. Always.
@@robgoose oh yeah dawg it’s remote work and not the fact big Tech is literally collapsing and guess where the heart of tech industry is? Silicon Valley. What’re you living under a rock? It’s not remote work and people coming to party dawg I swear motherfuckers just make shit up out here dawg go look something up instead of just spewing bullshit out of your dumb ass
I’m an SF native who has been there since the 70s- it’s all true and worse when you’re actually living here. The crazy thing is the average San Francisco Normie will not accept the facts even if they see it with their own eyes and usually just shift the blame to red states even if they are thousands of miles away as if they have anything to do with the pure chaos that’s happening here. After analyzing the situation as long as I have, noting the billions that have been spent on solving homelessness, crime, etc. I have come to the unequivocal conclusion that this is all entirely deliberate. Basically, we are being destroyed from within, and the enemies behind the scenes have paid off the politicians and are flooding the streets with drugs, such as fentanyl and paying off the DAs and other politicians to look the other way, empower and protect the criminal class against the tax paying law abiding population- this is unconventional warfare.
@@Quball87 Was literally just about to ask the exact same thing...the most obvious question: why? Why would they do something like that? I'm not averse to that being a very STRONG possibility, but I just can't wrap my head around the 'why?'.
@@Quball87 it’s step one in Marxists takeovers. BLM even said they were a Marxist group seeing to topple the society. It’s all super obvious if you know a little bit of history and have your eyes open. @@TheOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOi was downtown like a month ago and it was really nice, obviously not saying there aren’t bad areas. But the whole downtown area from the motorcity casino to lions and tiger’s stadium has been completely redone in that last like 4 or 5 years.
I lived and worked there too. The people to blame are the libs that keep voting for Pelosi and her ilk. Was fun to watch it slowly get worse for the 5 years I lived there. Finally left in 2019. The delusion in that city is wild.
How do you figure? Just because they literally legalized drugs? Just because they unironically legalized crime? And on top of all these things, they actually pay the druggies and criminals to do so? Naw man. It can't be that. You're crazy.
The people voted for those politicians they have no1 to blame but themselves. But theyll move, and vote the same way, and then complain in 10 years when their new city is shit
The voters are to blame. Progressive democrats are actually doing what they said they would do if elected. The democrats aren't tricking them, they openly say they will do this stuff.
I know a guy who worked in a cafe for a few years, pre-pandemic, during The Donald's reign. I asked him if people got along, you know, with politics getting crazy and people being so mad. He said everyone got along, no big deal. Really? I threw out a scenario: What if someone had a Trump banner in their front window facing the street? He suddenly looked confused and said, "Uhhhh. Some people would have a problem with that." It's like SF residents like to think they are "chill", but they really aren't. Do they actually care about the poor, homeless, "diversity" of political opinions, "diversity" of art across the spectrum, Left to Right? Yeah, no.
In 2017 I went to a bar and they were asking if people voted for Trump at the door. We said "yes" and the bouncer told us to "get lost." That bar is no longer there. Edit: I looked it up and its still there!!! My god how is that place still running...
@@LordRykard9376 this bothers me on so many levels and a huge reason why I fled Los Angeles although SF was literally commieland. First why are they asking?? The issue here is not whether you voted for Trump the issue is you are not allowed in because you think differently than "the accepted" it's gross! Still going on too 😫
I am a Norwegian tourist. I travelled to 15 cities in Latin America, 8 countries in Africa and all over Middle East. San Francisco was the only place I got truly scared and broke into tears. I visited wholly unprepared and didn't know, and my hotel was located close to the zombie apocalypse that is SF in 2023. I was scared of getting stabbed or infected. The day me and my family got out of there was such a relief, for 2 days just barricaded inside our hotel room.

I am a west coast native. Been going to San Fran since a child. I actually don’t mind what has happened. It had already become completely unattainable for a normal person. Extremely pretentious and douchey. Absolutely needed to happen to clear out the schills.
Dirty Harry tells the story of a cop that has to encounter and deal with the most abhorrent people mankind has to offer. It takes place in 1971, in San Francisco.
Every single person in San Fran who got kicked out of their home because they couldn't afford the rising rent either moved in with a family member or got on a bus for $50 and moved to another city. Every single last one of them. Sober people don't go ''Well I guess I'm homeless now let's find a nice ditch''
@@SA-hz1rs Florida is a nice place to live u don’t see a rampant drug problem .. stay in your shitty Democrat run cities and states like San Francisco lol
You sound like a complete whimp. It’s one of the safest cities in the US as far as shootings and violent crime . Stop letting the media blind you and form your opinions
I went to San Fransisco about a month ago to see Sepultura with my boyfriend and HOLY SH*T the amount of drugs we saw being done was incredibly heartbreaking & sad. Saw a man doing fent on the train about a seat away from us, another gaggle of about 50-80 people in front of the city hall trading and doing drugs & walked straight through a drug deal while going home. Not to mention the innumerable amount of times we walked past someone pulling out tinfoil & a lighter 🤦🏻♀️. I don’t know how these representatives walk past that everyday and not feel moved to do anything about it :/
For the same reason they rig the markets and make stock predictions: they purposely create conditions they can profit from on the stock market. Also the low level grifters steal grant money and funding for social programs by using identity politics and racial tension.
I went to SF at the opening of covid and my god I couldn't believe how insane it was. The buildings and landscapes intertwine with nature was so amazing but the absolute chaos in the streets with drug addicts just ingulfs the whole environment that it just ruins it all. If you can remove the homeless people I'd move to that city in a heart beat but man its awful whats happening right now.
@@steviechampagneNo way you’re saying lock up homeless people for existing instead of maybe, hey, here’s an idea, GIVE THEM A HOME. WE HAVE MORE VACANT HOUSES IN CA THAN PEOPLE YOURE A FACIST DUDE YOURE LITERALLY ADVOCATING FOR THE ENSLAVEMENT OF PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY’RE POOR
These people are some weird combo of libertarian and progressive. They hate the cops (libertarian) but they also want more laws and a bigger gov (progressive). Orwell called it "doublethink". It creates complete chaos. Either be libertarian or be progressive, don't try to be in some kind of weird middle area.
SF doesn't make sense to me. The rent there is massive why is there so much crime? Chicago all the crime is concentrated in the low income areas which makes sense (by design). But What's SFs problem?
Grew up in the SF bay in the 80's and 90's, moved back there in 2014. There is no exaggerating how degenerate, disgusting, lawless, and crime ridden it is. Watched a car get broken into in the parking lot of the police station at the Golden gate, drug addicts roaming like zombies and attacking each other, theft non-stop, human shit almost everywhere. Thank the gods I'm in North San Diego now
As a SF Bay Area resident (multi-gen) born and raised...I have legitimately been saying this for about the last 10yrs. The signs have been showing for at least that long...it sped up around 2018...thankfully we escaped just before 2020...sadly we can never go home now. Because it's gone. Now the California we grew up in, seems like a beautiful Hollywood fantasy...which has turned into a an unreal nightmare. This is a tragically heartbreaking thing to watch. Such a beautiful magical place that used to inspire and inform culture, is now destroying it. It's difficult to process most days.
I'm from the Netherlands and was on a study trip to Detroit two years ago, and it was one of the coolest places I've ever stayed at. Some (largely abandoned) blocks have been razed including the neighborhood where my hostel stood, and the local wildlife is slowly taking over again. If I woke up early in the morning I could see pheasants and deer roaming around with the city center skyline in the background. The city center itself is not that remarkable i.m.o. but there's a lot of cool buildings from the economic golden years that could be renovated and used to give the city back some character.
The sad thing is that the tech companies that made SF what it is today also made what it is today. The disparity and blight that is in SF, Oakland & SJ is due to all the displacement caused by high cost of living, hoe the city and Silicon Valley has catered to the Uber wealthy.
Traveled to San Francisco in 2011 when road tripping the USA. It was such a beautiful city. There were already a dark side to it but the beauty was still overwhelming. What I have seen recently is just shocking. I am from Johannesburg in South Africa and I am not going back to SF soon!!! No thanks.
This local tv station in Portland or Seattle invites the heads of 4 non profit organizations on that received millions of dollars a piece to help the homeless. The 4 looked like they were cast straight out if Hollywood. Extremely well dressed, one was wearing D&G shades, Gucci and other high end fashion items. The news anchor asked what they thought of the publics dwindling donations to their organizations over accusations of them being part of the Homeless Industrial Complex. I had never heard the term before then. The news station showed how the salaries of the organizations went from being 38% of the funds received to 67% of funds received within 5 years despite decreasing amounts received. Of course they denied being part of such a thing but appearances and math showed otherwise. The rich are literally getting richer off the homeless and the problem is getting bigger. We have a corruption issue that must be solved before we can hope to solve any other problems.
That’s way too generalized. Many people there and in these other west coast cities are still holding out hope that things will turn around, or they feel financially and personally attached because this is where they own homes, work and have all of their family and friends.
This morning at 730 AM as I was walking to work in San Francisco, a bum randomly hit me in my leg with a big stick. SF makes me pay more taxes than any other cities I have lived in.
They need a “Los Santos comedian hour” radio station on the next GTA. And it’s literally just Tim Dillon, Joey Diaz, Bill Burr, and Shane Gillis. It would be beautiful.
Well it’s more of an immigration problem but guess what party wants more immigration…. This whole “Democrat run city” stuff is kinda dumb because it usually works for mostly white cities. The problem is when you have an influx of low skill labor and different culture. I mean, big parts of LA look like Tijuana. That’s not because of socialized healthcare, it’s because we have a bunch of Tijuana people here… Just to be clear, I do not support democrats but let’s call a spade a spade.
Heroin addiction has been in this country for 100+ years. People have always lived in poverty in this country since it's inception. You have drug addiction, crime and homelessness all throughout the country. It's just easy to blame democrat cities because it's allowed in the open, whereas republican cities and suburbs lock you in jail. The problem isn't right vs left its finding a solution to the poverty and drug addiction.
@God-hs4hc yes, that's not the best option, but it might be the only one available. Still better than this disaster. Also, stop whining, most democratic run cities are, or going the route. Mirror, please

We left SF 6 months before Covid. Went from a $4k per month studio to owning 3 houses and a business in the PHX market. The houses have since doubled lol Made a mill to leave SF.
Detroit was one of the richest cities in the 50s and 60s. Bad policies wrecked it. The automotive industry could not compete with foreign competitors because of the corrupt unions. The city could not adjust to the decline of the car industry. Once tech starts to leave, SF is finished.
I toured with a rock band back in 1992 and we played Flint, Michigan. The moment we pulled into town, we all went silent. We looked at each other and said, “Do you feel that??” The gloom and despair was palpable. You could actually feel the weight of it. There was an evil, malevolent force in that town. We got used to it the longer we were there but misery on a grande scale is a very real thing. Hopefully San Francisco gets its head out of its ass and puts the drug offenders and mentally ill in some sort of state institution. It’s the ONLY thing that is proven to work.
San Francisco is a mess in alot of ways because of how we incentivize property valve. Having homeless camped out side strangle dosent bring down property value (because people don't live in them, just used as investment) but opening low cost housing or shelter near by dose effect housing price. So people that own homes write congress "not in my backyard" because they paid 2 mill and don't want it to go to 100 grand. Also most homeless can't or won't vote, if you have felony you can no longer vote. So politicians have no incentive to help them. So what do we do? Let felons get right to vote back after so many years. Don't let foreign money buy up the property. Good starts I think.
Mark Twain said its best "...America only has 3 cities New York, New Orleans and SAN FRANCISCO...everywhere else is Cleveland..." Don't let San Fran fall, we pretty much lost NO to Katrina
Like going on a safari tour in Africa: really tall bush vehicles to keep you above the filth: native San Franciscan tour guides: could be a lucrative business for Tim 🤔
Within two weeks of moving to San Francisco my apartment in a nice neighborhood a few blocks from the ocean was robbed. In the past few weeks I’ve recruited as hard working group of thieves I start our own business. We are located in front of farlitos on 24th mission. Holy shit, I just had an amazing idea. Double-decker tour/party buses that serve beverages and drive around all the skid rows of America’s big cities. We can call it American Shithole Tours. Using Tim’s experience as a tour guide, we could make some serious money.
What’s crazy is he is 1000% right. They started this in black American hoods already. I was flabbergasted Lmaoo. They’re giving tours to places like O block and Baton Rouge for TikTok etc… right on the mark dude.
SF thought their location would always make them a great city. Location matters but ones location is mute if the people who run the city have turned it into a violent slum in many parts of the city. SF is not a large city. It doesn't take much time to go from a nice area to a horrible ghetto. Way to close for any comfort. SF was always a weird city with many social problems. But they use to put people in jail or a mental institution. Now they just throw them on the street out of some misguided compassion. Also the drug injection sites now with the zombies everywhere flowing out of the Tenderloin.
I'd agree, by and large, with your rant. I'd only add it's important to encourage those venturing in to document their experiences and post them for others to see. Not just other Americans but for the world. There's value in allowing everyone to see and possibly, some good or change can come from it.

Detroit hit rock bottom several years ago. The property values hit the bottom and the scum ran out of resources to survive. The rebuild has begun. A lot of the vacant buildings and houses were leveled because they had no value. A bunch of Federal funds got dumped into Detroit to gut the infrastructure and start new.
I work in Detroit everyday, a man recently walked by my job site with what looked like a terrible infected stomach wound. Looked like his guts were coming out. His pants were hanging off his butt which was covered in a rash. He walked off into an overgrown alley.
How anyone still living there can stay is beyond me. I understand it’s a huge problem, but it’s like everyone’s safety is being compromised for just not dealing with the problem.
I went to Detroit in 2017. There was a bar open under a theater at like 10 in the morning. When I walked out the cops were parking and I joked, " they say you guys never show up" They didn't think it was funny 😂
Sadly, New Detroit (SanFran) will be a mess for 20+ years. Even if SanFran gets its act together, the state of California is years away from addressing the mess. The best thing that can happen to "New Detroit" is to declare bankruptcy. I can remember going to Detroit (for work) back in the 1990s and seeing a 30+ story burned out skyscraper. I was shocked. It looked like Beirut. I was told that the burned-out skyscraper is the train station. I think that is it only now being renovated. Its been 60+ years for Detroit to hit bottom and start an upturn.
Born in Detroit many years ago. Taxes / democrat run, caused the exodus from my city. Kept taxing to pay for those who couldn’t or wouldn’t . Right on for your statement about SF. Heck, that whole state is taxing the heck out of working class.
I wish people from other places knew how hilarious this is… I’m sure it seems mean to most people, but it’s so spot on and true… all you can do at this point is laugh at how terrible it’s become and it only continues to get worse.
