They really aren't. If you take a look at the channel of Asuna's voice actress, you'll see that she's actually super scottish... Example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-31sMQRW11wk.html
@@MustNotContainSpaces I don't doubt her voice _was_ very Scottish, but that was 4 years ago. My cousin moved to England for several years, and when she came back, her accent was naturally British, but she could flip between the 2 at will. Nowadays her natural accent is back to American, and she can flip between the 2 at will. It's very reasonable to think Asuna's VA speaks with an American accent because that is what she uses naturally after living in America for several years.
It does! I'm literally picturing Kirito, Asuna and the rest of them just watching an archive made by Kayaba of their exploits and just them shooting the shit.
@@jamesbaxter5147 I want it to end. I don't want to die and not be able to see the abriged series finished. By the pace they are made, it will be eight years untill the redeamable arc is finished and i'm not complaining.
@@jasonmiller2379 We definitely are not ever going to finish the entirety of Sao in this series based on the pace we're going at right now a year = 1 maybe 2 if we're really lucky at best. If they're willing to go another 20 years with this we can get Gun Gale.
@@Aflay1 I don’t know I almost feel bad for her. You know kinda like that karen at work whose kinda getting what she deserves but she’s getting way too much. Actually now that I think about it that sounds like a train wreck.🤔
So, it took me until 34:01 to realize the promo code for bookwalker is short for "Kirito is Always Right Foundation". Also, Kirito focusing on rescuing Asuna basically turns him into the " I've got to save my family! " NPC.
@@RandomPerson-ku4et Kirito: "This is it. This is the icing on my cake. A lifetime of physical and psychological abuse brought to a swift and sattisfiing end. All I have to do... is nothing. I mean this is just darwinism at work. As long as I don't hand her this life-saving juice that I'm currently handing her...NOOOOOOO!"
When they get to the phantom bullet ark I want them to change death gun's catchphrase to "I am vengeance, I am the night, I am death gun" and kirito only goes to ggo to kick this guy's ass for stealing Batman's catchphrase
for everybody wondering: post-mortem stream doesn't mean it's dead or something went wrong. that's just what people use to describe a stream going out after a video was released talking about it. director's commentary thing. idk why but that's how they do. edit: read powercore2000's reply for an explanation of why they call it this edit 2: correction from Timothy McLean in the replies: "basically any kind of creator (or part of a creative team) creating and releasing a reflection on a thing they made qualifies as a postmortem."
It's kinda a post mortem of the episode itself, meaning they are finished with the video and will move on to the next one. At least thats how I interpret it.
Wait, people thought the “it’s in the vents” was an Among Us reference? It seemed pretty clearly like an Alien reference. A case could be made for Dead Space as well, but pretty sure that still loops back to Alien...
@@Sebaz. my mother made me watch Alien when I was like 11 or 12 because "it's a cultural icon, you need to have seen it to be part of society"... same thing with Highlander... and Conan... but Power Rangers was forbidden because martial arts is bad for little kids...
If there's ever a TV in the background in a future episode, there should be a news broadcast with the headline saying "Bears Ravage Tokyo Apartment Complex, One Dead". I would cry tears of joy if I see that now.
The whole talk about the "nobody is gonna remember if it takes long to get out, everyone is gonna remember the final product" is a whole lot like the Shigeru Miyamoto quote "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad." or the old Blizzard mindset of "it's ready, when it's ready". There is a reason why Nintendo games usually do incredibly well, and likewise with you SWE
*Them talking about Cascada* "I have no idea who that band is and I do not care to look it up." *Them singing Everytime we Touch* "OH! Yeah, I like this so-" *Flashbacks to early 2000's youtube*
aha ahahaha ahahahhahahahaha You think you'll live to see the end of this? At the current rate, they'll put out the last episode of season three in the next century
@@rexexeable Ugh that's true. But I don't know if it's funny enough to make up for the fact that you can skip from the end of Alfheim straight to Alice and basically not be lost.
I personally have to appreciate SWE taking the horrid harem in the original anime, taking it out back, hand it to the butcher, and smite that shit! So satisfying.
@@JM-us3fr looking forward to what they do with Sinon. Her hitting on Kirito immediately after her encounter with "I'm a Nice Guy" rubbed me the wrong way. To add insult to injury she said in the original show that she would visit him from time to time while he's locked up. Its like she learned nothing.
1:11:00 Thanks for the acknowledgement of how difficult it was to write out the whole psychological analysis, did it in the comments of the main RU-vid video. It was, indeed, hell for my eyes. And zooming in only makes it worse 😆
Is it near the top on the video or would I have to scroll for it? I tried to read it myself and only got halfway through before figuring someone else would do it for me.
@@Pikaton659 I think it got kind of buried under other comments. Here it is: Psychological Profile The patient displays classic narcissistic and borderline sociopathic behaviour, especially when engaging with her brother, Kazuto Kirigaya (aka Kirito aka xVx_K1r1t0_xVx_KillMe aka Daddy). This appears to stem from deeply held feelings of resentment, as well as internalized self-hatred regarding her own femininity, most likely originating from an as-yet-unknown event in the siblings' childhood. The lifelong repression of these feelings seems to have bled into her other relationships as well, causing her to lash out at those she perceives to be weaker than herself. This behaviour is most evident when interacting with her "friend" Recon, who she CLEARLY has romantic feelings for, yet takes every opportunity to belittle and keep at an emotional distance, even though we can all tell what's going on and she should just admit she likes him and treat that poor, sweet, boy with the love and compassion he deserves! In short, I believe someone or something has caused her to view any display of more traditionally feminine traits as something to be ashamed of, and seems to lay the blame solely on her brother. As to why this is the case, further investigation shall be needed.
@@MoodyTornado Thank you for that. It has taken me a few watchthroughs to truly appreciate the effort they put into developing SAOA's characters. And this text I would otherwise miss just pushes that to another level.
I've watched this series so much that when I went to watch alicization finally I could not reconcile that Kirito has the wrong voice and is not mercilessly mocking Eugeo
I honestly think you could clip the audio from these streams and past episodes to make a trailer of like SAO alicization abridged. Considering we'll all be in our fifties by the time it comes out I'd love to see a fan edit. Can't wait to hear the "baka" speech where Kirito goes even crazier than ever lol.
My thought was something _way_ lower-scope-clipping out the bits of them voice-acting the Vulture scenes (~1:20:00 to ~1:35:00?) and doing some kind of doodles/animations to accompany them.
@@timothymclean 2 years later and I'm doing just that to bring sao abridged Kirito into a video guide for a vr shooter alongside darth revan, long story
So after they mentioned something hidden in the glitchy skybox I went back and looked at it, frame by frame, and found it. Spoilers for later SAO stuff below: It's the tentacle monster
1:13:40 Spoilers! You technically have an explanation for that. Since Kayaba is IN Alfheim, he abused the opening glitch to purposely drop Kirito near where Leifa was and in an area where he would travel directly towards her location on the way to the World Tree.
23:38 I love this crew for going above and beyond to not only making this bland shot one of the funniest scenes I have seen, but to do this joke with importance to conveying the plot and dilemma. Y'all are the best.
As a (now former) audio typist, I get the whole thing about zoning out when listening through audio. Sometimes we would get recordings involving an interpreter and you completely check out for the parts you can't type. You sit and wait for someone to speak English and it honestly lulls you off almost to sleep until "OH SHIT THEY'RE SPEAKING ENGLISH AGAIN GOTTA TYPE." It's been a great time learning about the production process behind this series! You guys are amazing and this stream made me appreciate the work you do that much more.
@@coc2streamspeech134 That spelling may be intentional as a way to distinguish between the official and abridged versions of the characters. I personally call the Abridged versions "Kirk" and "Ass", at least in my own head, inspired by Explanation Point's video essay on the topic.
breaking news: Attempted Bearglary of appartment building containing a family of four results in 3 maulings and 1 case of bearslaughter. Three of the vitcims, a woman and her two daughters are currently alive but are in critical condition and are undergoing treatement in the Intensive care unit. The father of 2 girls however sadly did not survive the encounter. Officials believe that the group of eurasian brown bears weighing in at nearly a thousand pounds each, took the elevator to the third floor of the apartement complex after smelling roasted pork which agitated them. The suspects have until now refused to speak and had to be forcefully taken to the police bureau where they are currently being questioned.
I paused the video to go double check what that I remembered rotoscoping correctly. O came back and un-paused just to hear: "For anyone who doesn't under that jargon..." Comedic timing could not have been better
These comments, even if not intended as such, are excellent marketing. I've subbed to like five random animation channels just because they said "oh hey I should animate *insert random thing I like*"
59:06 I always thought that was a joke about the phrase “you have the perfect face for radio” so learning that you guys didn’t write that was surprising
1:31:25 just to clear it up for anyone who wasn’t in stream: I said “why hasn’t she” in reference to asking the vulture about how to win the game and then I said “second muffin” because I wanted to make a joke about how stupid she was to not ask about that
1:10:30 You officially have done more with Yui in her actual use as a psychological analysis AI than the Official Media. I praise yall series ten fold than SAO.
This stream gives me a new perspective on as well as an even greater appreciation for not only all the work you guys do but for every abridged series I've enjoyed. Really, thank you for all the time and effort you spend to make such amazing re-imaginings such as SAO Abridged.
@@gary4014 They can be similar, but they are different ideas. Polygamy is the practice of taking multiple wives. Which aside from the cultural significance we give it nowadays, comes with legal benefits depending on where you are. I'm pretty sure that it's illegal in the US, but some states might decriminalize it. The significance there is that marriages actually have a lot of legal weight in a court room or if you die, which is why the fight to allow gay marriages was very much one of state approved discrimination. Polyamorous people are people who are interested in having multiple romantic relationships. That can be in different ways like a harem where several people are into one person, or a group of people who are all mutually romantically involved, and it might or might not involve sex. This has no legal implications and the only thing really stopping you from dating multiple people is societal pressure and finding consenting partners. There's definitely differences but what those differences are in a practical sense varies based on person to person and where in the world they are. Like in the US we don't do polygamy but there's plenty of people who are polyamorous and actively pursue a lifestyle where they openly have multiple relationships. In other countries polygamy is common, but those marriages might be based on power dynamics rather than romance. Like arranged marriages or a culture where women have no freedom and are entirely dependent on a man to do anything.
@@EnvyMizuhashi Eh...polygamy is specifically one man with multiple wives, usually with the whole historic "the man is the head of the household" bit of traditional marriage being emphasized. Polyamory is more flexible (both in structure and in not requiring a lifelong commitment) and doesn't have that historical baggage.
I wanna cry with how much blood, sweat, tears and time you guys put into your work too make it SOOOO good! I never thought I would watch 4 hours of ANYTHING, but here I am, watching some of my favorite artists explaining and demonstrating all kinds of behind the scenes shet an' doin me an educate... Thanks for being so heckin awesome guys! I look forward to more content and performances from you guys! 💜
I never heard nagato's ribs crack, now i can't watch that scene without hearing it, thank you Something Witty team, as a non-editor it was really cool to see the process :)
Thank you for the consistent comedy gold of your abridged series, just wanted to take my time to say that, and that my life wouldn't be as bright without your content. Thank you sir
Great work SomethingWitty crew. You guys REALLY outdid yourselves this episode. You have my deepest respect as a writer for the talent you show every episode
I'm gonna say this here, I love me some SAO, its like a guilty pleasure and with its quirks here and there. But seriously. . .you guys have created something amazing, every episode you guys drop is freaking magical. The wait is always worth it and you guys pay attention to details that I didn't pick up on in the original and change things to make it more entertaining, from noticing the guy dual wielding the axes, to Kirito's personality and my personal favorite making Asuna now always a damsel in distress! Keep up the good work guys we love you!
Seeing this really reminds me of the effort you guys put into this show. I mean like bro. The reason episodes take so long? You take time to decide what works and what makes sense in the moment its really amazing and inspiring. I really hope you guys continue to make this show until whatever ending you guys decide on. I have always consider SAO abridged to be my favorite anime of all time and that will never change. Because it isn't just animation or voice acting but the effort. The passion and care for this project is amazing and I love the witty dialogue. Making an audience sympathize and cheer for two sociopaths and a corrupted ai is really the most amazing thing.
I respect you guys for making this all the time you put in it makes my day keep on going you guys and reach for the Stars and don't let someone push you down
Speaking as an intermediate-level editor here, I REALLY love watching Izzy go through his thought process when it comes to his own editing. Helps me gain a better understanding of it myself!
I will remember and spread the word of how long this takes and how much time and effort you all do! Thank you for taking the time to do this it’s amazing work ^w^
You gotta respect the amount of work they put into this series. I am content to wait for them to believe that the episode is the best that it can possibly be. I'd love to see a post-mortem of the other episodes.
im so late but i honestly just love their process and how they all work and act together as a team- i love seeing how it all works and comes together its just beautiful honestly
I honestly cannot wait to see what you guys end up doing with the scene in the cave where Kirito turns into a giant f**king monster. Also kinda wanna curious to see what you end up doing when Sakuya and Alicia start getting *aaall* up on Kirito in that post-conference scene considering you've all effectively axed the whole harem subgenre of this show.
OH MY GOD. WHEN IS THE NEXT EPISODE?!?!?! I've been having a really bad year, man...SAO: Abridged has been a lifeline of laughs and happiness. Also. HELLO TO ALL OF YOU. YOU'RE ALL AWESOME!
I'm imagining that abridged Oberon is really bad at keeping Asuna trapped, and she escaped from ALO to do this, and then returned to the cage afterwards. Yeah, she's the one in control, not him.
I have been waiting for this! Personally, I would do a lot of the photoshop work in after effects, and I see some things that I would do approach differently. It's so interesting to see how your approach to editing differs! Loved this!
