I am a Prince fan ..and the sheer minimalism..in this is exactly what Prince would have loved to say nothing of her excellent singing and playing.. I have heard a lot of Prince covers and this is one of the best
Saw Sarah perform this live during her 2017 west coast tour in support of her Grammy winning album "Undercurrent". Great live number!! Not on the CD, but I believe there is a Spotify single download available. She originally played this sweet tribute, along with "Sometimes it Snows in April", on her octave mandolin, then switched to her standard mandolin, a few tweaks, and presto, we have this wicked cool jam on a Prince classic. I just love the instrumental break, when she closes her eyes and shows us her unparalleled creative skills. Shout out to bassist Jeff Picker for anchoring this one.
Sarah has established herself as one of the very best of a new generation of singer/musicians. She is admired not only by her fans but other musicians as well. Love you Sarah
This is INSANE. I envy every person in this crowd that witnessed this. Music is a international language that brought our species together, may it always come from inside. No machine can create what our should possess. Much love.
One of my favorite covers of this song. She is so imaginative and she rocks. I haven’t seen her in concert but I hope I do. I have been so lucky in my time here on earth for the music I think is the best of centuries
Sarah Jarosz is an incredibly talented Artist and all her live performances are incredible, but the back and forth jam on this between them was really really fun, sharp, and awesome!
A very cool and captivating jam that juxtaposes two traditional acoustic instruments with a soulful and funky Prince cover. That the performance is so authentic and convincing is a testament to the extraordinary musicianship of Sarah Jarosz and her bassist (I wish I could identify him by name, as he's really very talented). Great work, kiddos! I think The Purple One would approve.
Every once in a while I am reminded that politics is not the end all and be all in life.thank you Sarah for a few moments of grace, joy and magic.this girl shines forth in the bleakness.
wow, since i stumbled upon her npr tiny desk i have watched quite some videos with sarah, but i didn't really expect her to do a cover of one of my favorite prince songs... just went into 4 four of my playlists - couldn't decide which one would fit best ;)
Saw Sarah, Jeff Picken and Anthony de Costa in San Luis Obispo a few months ago, was the best night in forever, they are all fantastic musicians and met them after the show :-) awesome people to!
This girl is outstandig no doubdt ! What an amazing rendition... Even Prince himself is smiling while whatchin this performance, wherever he must be....
Very cool piece from Grammy winner, Sarah Jarosz, for her 2017 album, Undercurrent. She's a regular player on Prairie Home Companion, with Chris Thile and is always entertaining.
