Rob, thanks so much for the deep dives! For me, the first few chapters of the poem seem to be "Satan's Story." His motivation, attributes, and activities are vividly described. Without giving away any spoilers, Adam and Eve's characters will be magnificently developed in subsequent chapters. The poem will also expand to epic proportions with the rally Satan has planned in Book 5. One fascinating item that stuck out to me that you mentioned was how Uriel didn't discern Satan's evil or his plans. This theme of the angels being in the dark will develop beginning with God's command to Rafael in Book 5 that he must warn Adam to be obedient to God and the consequence of disobedience. (These consequences will be developed over several books). But to me, it seemed that neither the angels-certainly not Adam-understood the concept of death until AFTER the Fall. Anyhow, my friend, thanks again for such thoughtful content! Mike

I figured Milton would have to start building up the other characters more because as we stand Satan has been given the most “air time” to state his case. So we shall see. Well I am glad these videos help. It actually helps me as well. Creating the videos allows me to work through many of the questions I had while reading and usually by the end I have a decent grasp of what is going on. I will be honest, these types of books take a lot of effort for me to read and understand. Does not come naturally at all. Maybe one day! Haha stay blessed buddy!

@@The_Cause If only my opinion counted then I prefer the current frequency over once a week. Currently it is always a nice surprise when I see your video. If it is once a week then I would get used to your videos. And getting used to something is not always preferable. My favorite foods I deliberately only eat rarely.

@@The_Cause It just shows the people at Ralston really are smart! And something for you to keep in mind Rob that I think is really going to pay off for you very soon, and something that I think Ralston understands also, your videos have staying power. You could get a lot of views just talking about the fad of the day or the hot news topic of the hour, but then those videos just die as the world moves on to the next hot topic. As you get more popular your videos are going to rank really well in search, if they don't already, and you're going to be getting views for years to come on these videos. As your channel and your content library grows, you're going to corner the market on search for classic literature. So in 5 years from now anyone doing a search for say Paradise Lost, like say a potential or current college student, is going to click on your videos. Your content is also going to have a strong international appeal especially in the commonwealth countries. I say all of that just to let you know that all of the work you're putting into your content isn't just for right now and the views you get for the first couple of days after releasing a new video. The work you're putting in now is going to pay off for years to come and I think Ralston recognized that also? So just keep on doing exactly what you're doing!

Hey Rob, I also wanted to say I think it's great you are promoting Ralston College. I have been taking classes through Hillsdale College, who, if I'm correct, is similar to Ralston. Hillsdale's focus is on a classical education, and they have several free online courses. I'm currently enrolled in Ancient Christianity and have taken seminars on Aristotle and on the U. S. Constitution. I just thought I'd share them with you, as well, in case you'd like to supplement the things you are in pursuit of. They may have some classes that are a bit different than Ralston, but in the same sphere. 👨‍🎓😊

We must be twins! Haha I have listened through all of the one you have mentioned on Hillsdale’s online courses. I love what Larry Arn has done with Hillsdale. The Hillsdale online course with Thomas West was probably the most impactful for me besides Aristotles Ethics one. They are all so good though! I love that Hillsdale and Ralston are unapologetically focused on sustaining our western culture.

I have not read Paradise Lost yet, so I feel your videos will be a great resource when I eventually get to it. I have shared your 1st video on Paradise Lost with my book club, as we have had multiple readers that just finished this work as a group buddy read. I have recently completed The Divine Comedy, so I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Dante when you get to him. You may have already answered this question (honestly, I can not remember). Hey buddy! Thanks so much for sharing my video and truly appreciate you watching. I am itching to get to Dante but sadly it’s about 15 volumes away from where I am at. Practicing patience is hard sometimes. I will eventually read the shelf of fiction but I do not know if I will cover them in video form. I would like to move into some other series like Gibbons Fall of Rome and the like. But who knows. These videos take way more time than I initially planned. What I thought I could do in 2-3 years will most likely take me 5+ at the rate I’m going just to finish the Harvard Classics. So much I want to do but so little time! Haha stay blessed my friend!

interesting that in the Christian tradition, this tree is the tree of knowledge but in the Islamic tradition (second Surah), God taught Knowledge to Prophet Adam (peace be upon him)
