I came from a strong musical family and I’ve been exposed to a lot of different types of music every thing from Traditional Country/ Bluegrass to Metal. I love every thing from Hank Williams Sr. to Metallica. I tend write stuff from emotional stand of people who I know and love going through trials of darkness. And sometimes I write about fictional time and place but with a message. My mission is always that all my friends, from Christian to Bikers to factory workers like my message and what I’m trying to say. Bless you, Brother Bob!

"Secular" Metal actual strengthens my faith. Megadeth and Killswitch Engage really have helped when I have a bad day. I listen to Megadeth every morning on my way to work. I loved Megadeth's songs and albums before Dave was saved, but I think his music has gotten even better. Dave once made a comment in an interview about becoming a Christian. He said that people considered him dangerous because of his point of view. He felt that he is more dangerous now because he is armed with the truth.

Some people are so ignorant when it comes to Christian music. I listen to loads of Christian rock and metal but there are so many people who condemn it because they believe it is satanic. In my opinion organised religion has caused people to follow rules, but I think that being a Christian is about having a relationship with God.

I love this guy, keep it up! We need more people who love, not judge others. 'Love almost doesn't notice when it's done wrong.' It's the heart, do you love and care about other people? If you do it will draw the judgmental attitude out of you. God has the most natural love for you. Share it with everyone! Peace

I have been a fan of Christian metal for a long time now, and extreme metal at that. I dress like a metal head and the more I listen to it the more I want to be closer to God. It has changed my life because of it. It has given me peace through Jesus Christ even during some tough times in my life. If I have a bad day, I will put on some Firethrone or Elgibbor and just worship the Lord and He is always there with His Holy Spirit. I don't think people know how much Christian metal ministers.

It all comes down to lyrics and what it says about the song.Whats in the artists hearts comes out on the lyrics .The artists is responsible for what he says in his or her songs and if it’s from their experience in Christ it speaks to people’s hearts no matter what style of music it is.

In the 80z I remember the "backward masking", the" PMRC ", OZZY and JUDAS PRIEST had songs about suicide, MADONNA was a bad influence on little girls. They went after Rock music not just Hard Rock/Metal music. Today in 2018, Rap/Hip Hop dominates. Just seen a video were one hipster was wearing underside down cross earrings and white sneakers. NO one says a word. The image looked like the early to mid 80z again in a way. Where is the PMRC when you need them. " you dumbdown the people, they become vulnerable " AMEN 💀

before finding christian metal, i didn't find i was able to listen to a lot of christian music. this changed when i found bands like for today and sleeping giant that i found a love christian music. I have respect for christian bands and artists who don't go into metal music but i am one of those people who can't listen to them for days on end like i can do with christian metal.

I remember the whole "church" losing their mind because Amy Grant wore a leopard print jacket and slacks. They didn't listen to the album only looking at the cover.

Back in the earlier days of Christian Metal the message was usually evangelical. There was a need to counter the strong satanic messages being forced on everybody with the message of Christ. Also, converting people to Christianity. Still today, there will always be a need for an evangelical message and praise songs too. Also, there is bands that are artist today that sing songs with Christian morality that isn't necessarily evangelical. And that's wonderful. I don't see anything wrong

I grew up listening to petra, Thousand Foot Krutch, Switchfoot, August Burns Red, Demonhunter, and Stryper. I just wish the Christian radio stations would play some of that stuff and stop being afraid of being judged.

Good stuff...I agree with you. I also think that people attack bands like Stryper because there is a Christian element to them that non-Christians struggle to accept. Call it the reproach of Christ or what not. Look at Tim Tebow. He's probably the ideal role model for young men, but many attack him. They say they don't like the way he throws, but what they really don't like is his faith. Right? They said they didn't like Stryper's outfits, but I bet it was really their faith they hated.

Pastor BOB....we can't please them all....I agree with you....drop the titles....and just call it Music...And not judging people for their past...as someone did below about your past. We all have a past. It's not the mistakes..or things we've done in our past that matter most....it's how we've grown...and where we are today. As our past efforts, flaws, beauty, and etc...make us the entire person we are today..and whom we will be tomorrow depends on our continued growth...understanding...respect for others. It is so much easier to judge people...instead of respecting..or understanding them. Just because you saw someone back in the 80's preaching one thing...doesn't mean they are fakes or frauds. Personally...I'm not the same dude today that I was back in the 80's. It is up to us to listen to music...to listen to people...to respect people..humans...our brothers and sisters...no matter what they believe in...or what music they choose, or what books they choose, or food, or shoes. Knowing God shouldn't be forced. Labels and titles to classify if music is for the good or bad of humankind...is for some....but in all....Music...a song...for a loved one...shouldn't be knocked because it's not for God. Show love to your fellow human beings...as well as God...pending your beliefs. Love, kindness, respect, awareness, understanding, sacrifice...are what we have the ability to share with anyone we choose...without being judged. The point is....we shouldn't be judging each other. We should be doing our best at understanding, respecting, inspiring, loving, being in peace with each other.....accepting each other for our many differences and commonalities...cause at the end of the day...no matter what my beliefs are...or your beliefs...his and hers...them and theirs....we are all humans..and we all count in the eyes of our Father....as should we count just as much to each other....no matter what music we enjoy playing..or listening to.

I don't care a lot for Stryper, if they turned up the guitars I probably would have. The vocals covered up almost everything and it just wasn't my style BUT at the same time I think that they might have been the first "Christian" band to truly be current to what was happening in modern music.

I hear they have country and western music in Nashville. What a great city.Have played in secular and Christian Metal band's. Christian band that went secular. Secular band that went Christian. Heard my fair share of criticism. Let me tell you something at a very personal level. I decided to live a transparent life so others could see the changes God brings about. It has been a long, strange, and most importantly rewarding life. Noone believed that I could change. Only the faith and prayers of those that knew and believed in God's plan and the plain simple truth that in the Lord and him alone could they place thier trust knowing that the miracle had already begun when I made a commitment to Christ and he would be faithful to complete it. It's a lifelong commitment. I have outlived many of the prayer warriors that pleaded my case before God. He was faithful I have some form of peace and am able to Love. Music...ah... yeah I still play for GOD ! For good reason. Love, love, love Amen

Yes, we should just call it music, but there is, I think a distinct "Christian Contemporary" genre (Tomlin, Kearney, West, Millard, etc)-- it follows a bit from the Southern Gospel, Bluegrass tradition (forms and arrangement). If I'm flipping through stations, I know pretty much immediately if I've hit an Air1/Way-FM/Word-FM affiliate. . . same as I know I've hit a Country or "Classic Rock" or whichever. When it comes to modern music (post grunge, alt punk, metal, hip hop, soul) the Chritian label is only useful for persons that want the assurance that he or she will have a good chance to be inspired and uplifted by the lyrical content.

I still see pastors (like David "head in the" Cloud) condemning most types of music (along with dancing and movies and anything that constitutes entertainment), and I wouldn't deem these guys as "godly" at all. They're just arrogant, narcissistic jerks who want to be in control. lol

That's funny that people would have a fit of it, because "Love At Full Volume" by Barren Cross is one of the best songs on that record.

I remember having a "battle" with my Dad over being allowed to have a copy of one of Kylie Minogue's early singles purely because it wasn't "Christian"! OK, it was back in the 80's, but looking back, it was just such a stupid "battle", the song was nothing compared to other stuff going round at the time! I also remember a Church minister in the late 80's or early 90's referring to a CD as "the Devil's disc", it actually turned out he had a screw loose (as we say here in the UK)!

Reverbnation / Devilbeheaded a Christian thrash/heavy metal band that covers themes such as bible stories, warnings against involvement in black magic, and resisting temptation and etc check it out.

It is not the genre of the music or shows I question, it is the way the music or shows make me feel or think. If the music makes me feel or think lustful thoughts, then I turn it off. Now the same music that may affect me in an ungodly fashion, may affect someone else in a godly fashion. I can only judge the music for myself, not for others.

It learns many people, with different tastes. But !! my Priest said to me once: If it removes your peace, stay away from it. PASTOR BOB, I have to sort of disagree with you. I think we should have classification but not a segregation. For example unbelievers and believers alike can read the Bible, but only the Holy Spirit can teach believers whats in the Word. Unbelievers can get a superficial understanding i.e 10 commandments. So, with Christian metal I would say the world cant listen to it but that we as Christians understand the words revealed in song about Our Lord Jesus, and maybe get more from it. And for that reason I argue classification, but not segregation. I would love to hear what you think, I am thoroughly enjoying your teaching videos and learning a lot through them. One, I personally still recommend watching pastor Bob's other video on tatooing, I also believe tatooing is ok, I'm personally all for tatoo's it's just that in the bible it specifically states no dead people's names. At least as far as I know.

I think the pastor has a point, rock has a worldy feeling to it. And most often, the lyrics are not 100% love. Listen, I think there is better instruments than distorted guitars, think about how peaceful an indian flute can be. And in my belief, fingers cannot express the peace of the soul, of Holy Spirit.

I love ALL MUSIC :) I listen to the christian stuff but my favorite band ever is Korn followed by Godsmack. As long as its not literally Satanic then I listen to it. I love screamo, metal, nu-metal, rock, and some dubstep. And Sound track kinda music from movies like King Author or Troy or stuff like that. I like mellow stuff but I prefer head banging stuff.

As far as Christians in secular bands, I know I can't judge somebody like Tom Araya of Slayer. He's a Catholic, and yet, he's in the same band with a blasphemous atheist guitarist named Kerry King, and he often sings a lot of blasphemous lyrics that Kerry writes. How does he reconcile his faith with something like that?

For me, it doesnt matter what type song it is. It is the one who singing the song. I've heard a lot of metal singers that takes drugs before singing of course that will come out of his songs. If the singer takes drugs before singing, the spirit of drugs comes out and that is not nice because it can pollute your soul because doing drugs is satanic for me.

A kid has no way to discern about it ! But pleasure, that makes your kids "feel-think" like "all is fine".... It is like, the guys making the burgers, the workers at the fast food, some of them have no idea, others just will not look at it, it may cause a conflict with then holding that position... you see where it is going. I do not compare DT to macdonalds, but rather DT could be like very fine food served in very high class restaurant. Still, it is just there and I wonder if I should not take a look at the kitchen, and then at the provider to see what in the world this food is really made of..... Complicated situation...The fact is, there may be some kind of inscription on the memory, on the body, of all the things we interact with... But there is one thing I like to believe, over all lately : once you got to meet Jesus, - Baptised by fire - once you have been given the light of discernment, once you have experienced the Holy Spirit guiding you, and that you keep a close relationship with the Lord, you can pass thru certain situations, you may be able to enjoy or listen to certain secular music without being pulled by it into back again into the world...

I started listening to Ghost BC and they are considered satanic I don't agree with the lyrics because of my Christian beliefs its different for me can go see bands like SLAYER KISS STRYPER AND GHOST and if it is a band that has anti religious lyrics I don't look at the lyrics I listen to the lyrics and think what would my life be without my faith for example Alice Cooper a very Christian man but with a horror vaudeville show, SLAYER Tom Arya a devout catholic who teamed up with a atheist to make music and one of my favorite songs was written by the Catholic man Called God Hates Us All Tom Arya said "God Doesn't Hate " we like to scare people and stuff like that scares people and respects Kerry's ideas and views even if he doesn't agree with him but Tom Said he has interesting ideas and opinions and he writes the songs very well another qoute by Tom Arya," I consider what we do art, and art can be a reflection of society and you can say our band is showing the darker reflections
