Despite a year-long conversation about the need to bring competitive integrity back to the NBA's All-Star Game, the 2024 edition proved it was actually possible for the players to care even less than they did in 2023.

The difference could be what drives players. Back in the day, it's about becoming the best player. Now, it is just about landing a big contract. The NBA has become a business.

Back in the Day.. When they see MJ Magic Bird Kareem Dumars Mchale etc.. Upcoming players want to get their Respect.. Vets want to bully Dominate their youngins ala hazing of some sort.. Nowadays none of those culture flies anymore.. Everyone is a Diva of their own making (socmed era).. Fear to become a meme or posterized by anyone... Fear to offend so pettiness was avoided.. Competitiveness suffered.. alot..

Next all-star game need play DEFENSE & add 1 vs 1 or 2 vs. 2 in all-star event

NBA should strip players with the "Allstar" title right before the Allstar game, the "Allstar" title should only be given to the winners of the Allstar Game, this will affect player's resume, and in theory will be a competition to what team will win it.

Its funny that they try more in pickup games at summer but then game is televised and fans want to see best pick up game players think that they are to cool to try...

It's really disgusting. It used to be one of the most anticipated events where all the best players are in one court playing against each other and together. Always wanted to see how MJ went against the Western teams. Dream,Barkley, Admiral, Malone, together with Kemp, Stockton, GP, Shaq... even till the 2000s Kobe vs Tmac, AI, VC, Dirk KG, Nash, JO, Timmy, CP3, Melo, D-wade.. they all went at each other's throats. Not putting Bron on here because I think he is part of the problem. He didn't even look like he wanted to try after Kobe guarded him full court.

Ppl who says give more money needs to undersrand money IS the main reason why the all star game is the way it is. Even if you say give each player $5 million dollars to compete, you need to understand from these millionaire players point of view. They r all mostly max players whom earn like $20million per yr. Earning an extra 1/4 is nothing to them. N in their mind, its risking their entire career, which is like $200million dollar for the extra $5millon...it doesnt make sense to us, cuz its still millions n its just a basketball game. But to them, its not, its a business, n their own image.

How about this, have an all star win percentage contract bonus ? basically if your part of the team that wins the all star games, your eligible for a 5% more contract max, then what your eligible for ?

It would be a good idea when a team wins, their respective team would add like maybe 3 wins in and then the losing team would lose 3 wins in their current record

1. USA vs WORLD 10 or 12 players each. With players Kyrie, Klay, Embiid, can playing for their International Team. Repping other countries' flag would be lit and add more international attendance. 2. Winning team have +1 win, Losing team have -1 on their Regular szn W-L, doesn't matter if two or more players playing on the same team. Or Just set the target score to 1K, and let's see.

Scrap east and west conference seeding. Get the top 16 teams playoff spots. Keep all star game as east vs west. All star game winner gives +5 wins to all teams of the winning conference.

Since they have it conference-based now they could have so that the winning conference gets Home court advatange in the finals. That would incentivize a lot of the stars to win and play decently during the all star game since many of them are on championship contending teams.

@@thedarkfrost2351 it'd make sure they're not COMPLETELY dicking around in the all star game. The idea of Stars of a conference uniting to get that home court advantage mist of them want is a bit intriguing as well. Add in it with a Target Score/Elam and the game would be interesting. Mini tournaments would be a good addition to the skill competition.

Just remove the all-star weekend. Next CBA, remove all-star selections as a basis to get a bigger contact and let All-NBA team selections dictate that. Just let them play the season straight so they get to finish 1 week shorter if they're just looking for a break.

the real reason some of the stars don’t want to partecipate in the dunk contest is cuz they aren’t really creative dunkers, people like ant and lebron have admitted it in interviews too but fans seem to not understand. For example brown this year participated but was awful and had 0 creativity and got clowned for it.

why incentivise these players when they are making more money than ever to not be competitive? it is disgusting to see the players devolve the regular season and the ASG to such levels with their entitlement. I used to be die hard NBA fan but I haven't been watching both for a few years now until Playoff time. Only way I'm watching is if nothing else is on during the playoffs cause the NFL is out..

It absolutely should be balls to the wall??!! Giving the players an out by saying they don’t have to treat it like a playoff game is only ever going to be lesser of a product. Why does the nba think it’s alright for fans to sit around all season waiting for a game 7 to get a high quality game??!! Come the playoffs most teams are a starting 5 and a 3 man rotation to eliminate as many scrubs as possible and how is that better than the best 24 players on earth going head to head. The finals are great but a true all star game would be incredible

More money is not the solution, offer the winning team 7 days off and then you'll see a lot more hustle. A mini holiday in the middle of the season should get them all motivated.

in my opinion, I think one of the factors as to why All star games are less competitive is because of the old heads (fans/players) discrediting this era's stars and their achievements. Like they say "you got x amount of all star games but it dont matter if u dont win a ring". Thats why stars now tend to reserve their energy and health for the grinding regular season and eventually the playoffs.
