Having used the Festool CSCSYS50 cordless sliding table saw a bit more I realise that I really need to get it off the benches and onto a small cabinet, so I banged out a quick MDF box from whatever scraps and mis-matched offcuts I had to hand, all held together with loose tenons using the latest 10MW Loose Tenon Jig, the LTJ 30 - out very soon.
Lots more to come on this as I settle the new hardware into the workshop and workflow; subscribe to make sure you don’t miss a thing - bit.ly/10MWsubs...

So I bought the FT Table saw and I like it’s precision and ease of use. The BT gig is a pain but I’ll eventually have a dedicated mini for it. I do wish it had the capacity for a plug-in but the batteries are serving my purposes well. Thanks for the tips!
@a-carpenter9229
@a-carpenter9229 Год назад
When the vacuum is disconnected from power and loses the bluetooth connection you should be able to pair it from the table saw itself. That's how it is with the cordless miter saw. You hit the bluetooth button on the vacuum and wait for the light to flash then start the saw and it should connect.
@10MinuteWorkshop
@10MinuteWorkshop Год назад
Yes, but, as I say in the video, I'm keeping one battery without the bluetooth connection to see if it makes a difference to the runtime. It wont pair if there's only one battery in it, because it wont run - hence the need for the drill. 👍

A nice build and yes, we do have too much stuff. A full morning of clearing my workshop filled two wheely bins (each topped off with a bin bag of genuine household waste so that the bin men didn't get nosy) but I need another morning followed by a trip to the tip. Then I might be able to use my lathe, bandsaw and bench without humping stuff around.

Hi Peter, you could make a sliding manifold to make switching over easier. I’ve something similar there’s a few examples on here. But trying to condense the explanation: the hose from the vac is attached to a slider disk with a hole captive in the manifold which has 4 holes for hoses to my table saw and one going to my track saw etc you just slide it between them. It’s much better than blast gates in a small shop and a pretty simple build.
@10MinuteWorkshop
@10MinuteWorkshop Год назад
Nice idea, but I’ll stick with the simple solution for now, at least until I build the final cabinet. If the tablesaw gets more use than I expect then I’ll rig something up more permanently. 👍

I like this “stream of consciousness “ building. I hope I can build the confidence to do this at some point. As a beginner, it’s easy to get stuck over analyzing drawing up 15 versions of a plan and get paralyzed wondering if you’re gonna mess up something. ( when in fact those mistakes would grant a good learning opportunity) . Maybe we call it the James Joyce woodworking method?

Thanks Peter, I’ve watched your cabinetry basics videos many times and I understand the advantages of having the top and base fit within the sides. However in this situation, since the table saw sits on the top, wouldn’t this be a time to have the top sit on top of the sides? It’s clearly strong enough as it is but I still wonder about this detail for cabinets like this with a heavy tool sitting on top of it.
@10MinuteWorkshop
@10MinuteWorkshop 11 месяцев назад
Honestly Mark, make them however you like - either way is plenty strong enough, but most commercial cabinets are made this way, with the top and base sitting within the sides. If you have a very heavy tool in mind, then having the top bearing against the sides may well work better - but in base cabinets, you typically have stretchers or bearers that keep the sides apart, in addition to the top. There’s a ‘base cabinet basics’ series coming along shortly where this gets explored in more detail. 👍👍
@teridzard1776
@teridzard1776 Год назад
Nice video! I can see the reason for the table saw base and the vacuum sitting underneath. I also think it’s good to use just simple material for that. Wouldn’t it be more convineint to have the thing sitting on casters? That would not only make it easy to take the saw away if you need the space on the router, but would also make it possible to use i.e. the router table as an outfeed of the table saw. Anyway, curious to see/hear more about your opinion of this saw in a small workshop.

for a floor-standing single unit box like this, I would have preferred your "wrong way" to do the box, so the weight is not carried by the fixings, but transferred straight down along the entire edge, like a table top is placed. Your current setup has two forces in opposite directions (ground and saw weight), and side panels are left to mercy of the fixings. Not an expert in cabinetry, but Physics 101.

Thanks! It’s the DJI; bought them after using @RobinClevett set in Germany, they are so, so good, and so much easier to use and set up than the Rode Go. Sounds pretty decent too, though there’s a bit of eq applied. 👍👍

That beautifully made feature rich saw would frustrate the crap out of me. It is far too small to justify the price and features, unless you run a toothpick factory...

At the risk of stating the obvious, if it’s not for you, don’t buy it. 🤷‍♂️ I’ve gone into the buying decisions in a previous video, but fwiw it was slap in the middle of the saws I looked at price-wise. 👍

I really dont see the advantage of this saw its very limited in its capacity

If you don’t see the advantage, don’t buy it. 🤷‍♂️ But if you want a small, lightweight, quiet saw with good dust collection, there’s not many around at any capacity. I went into all the reasons for the purchase back in January in this video. 👍 Why Buy This Saw - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u7H5On0j_5c.html
