Please show us the dam project with you lowland pond. If you're too busy felling trees, let a Jack do a follow up on the dam. Congrats.

Congratulations, Cody. In my estimation, without having been a professional logger (especially in the employ of some governmental agency), Level 2 is the best one could realistically expect to do on their first class. So, I think your results were exemplary.

wranglerstar I think it would be in your best interest to get your new floors off of that trailer and on a better platform. Its going to warp siting like that for too long. It also needs to acclimate itself to the humidity levels inside your home for at least a week before you install it. Love the videos, would like to see the progression of all the trees you planted recently.

Congrats Cody! Now you will evaluate a lot of trees and old stumps when you hike the woods. I'm still looking at old stumps to see what cut was used. I also will add my voice to the group for more on the Beaver Dam.

Fun note about being an AD, its protected the same as volunteer fire fighters. You are legally protected from your employer to take the offer to help during a major event. Just need a document from dispatch, or crew chief of your request to "arms".

Hey, Would you be willing to start a video series about what you learned in that Sawyer class. I would like to start learning about tree falling and I think that an in depth series about this would help me and others to understand the risks and dangers involved, and help us understand how to approach the situation. Thanks for all that you do!

You"re exactly right. I find myself in the same place all the time. I've worked chainsaws since I was a teenager. Worked them semi-pro working as an arborist for a couple of years. But ya know, it was all just OJT, so to have you make a vid concerning REAL training is huge. I still have people, and come upon myself, jobs that I'm not sure I know how to do. Lucky so far I guess, only one broken arm...

Cody, after I went through S212 and recieved my B, I felt like I had been pretty stupid in my past saw experience. S212 was one of the greatest learning experiences I have ever had, and I really feel like every person who runs a chainsaw should take this class. It would save a LOT of injuries. Maybe you and I will end up on a saw squad together this summer. :-)

Fairly new to the wildland world but good job on the FAL2 classification. Did y’all do your PTB books in the class or did the instructors “deem” you a FAL2 without having to do the FAL3 task book? Not asking that in a condescending way; I’m truly curious. I’m taking 212 at the end of this month here in Texas. Also, you’re spot on on your explanation of wildland stuff and it being like Boy Scouts. I was just telling someone that same thing a few days ago. Keep it up.

@addker
@addker 9 лет назад
CMLovejoy right on! FAL3; BASIC FALLER, AD-D FAL2; INTERMEDIATE FALLER; AD-E FAL1; ADVANCED FALLER; AD-J FELB; FELLING BOSS; AD-F AD = Administratively Determined Classification Level = Pay per hour AD-D = $19.60 AD-E = $21.52 AD-F = $23.52 ... AD-J = $35.00 So, FAL1 makes more than FELB based on technical expertise.

Wait, so there are 3 levels, let's say 1,2 and 3 with 3 being the top, are you saying you got the 2? I know you said you'd be happy to get the 1, but did you bypass 1 and go to 2, or did you earn basically an apprentice 1? I couldn't really tell. If your a 2, that's amazing! But if you got an apprentice 1, that's not bad either. Were there guys who did the class that got no grade that you saw? Or were there others in your league? I'm just curious, and by no means drawing any conclusions and whatever it is, it's cool and really important and impressive. Just thought I'd ask!
