How did I even get here? I don't even play Mario, but somehow I've been religiously watching some guy with a beard play this game for how many years now? Well, it's been a blast, gonna miss this hearing the good ol "chikachikachikachika... Stage 1 with 100 lives."
Seriously, I've never played Mario before I started watching his videos. But there is just something enjoyable about the way he plays and enjoys gaming. I've been watching for about 7 years now religiously every day the videos come out. He got me through the pandemic and continues to bring joy through his videos. We love you Ryu!
I'm 99% sure I've watched every single one of his 100 life episodes at least once, and I've never played SMM, 1 or 2, and I only ever played New Supe, out of the 2D games. Something about Ryu's attitude to the game is so relaxing and makes for a good watch.
Me too! I was suggested to him around October or November 2018. At first I thought that SMM1 was a PC game and thought: Hey cool! You can create your own levels!" Farewell Super Mario Maker 1.
Wow, so many memories; meals while watching you play, moments of rest at work, or just to simply have a good time watching your Mario Maker videos. It's not a farewell, because without a doubt, you will continue making content of Mario Maker 2 and other things, but undoubtedly those moments watching you tackle Mario Maker levels have been some of my favorite moments of the day, so I thank Mario Maker and you. An immortal duo!
This is a bittersweet moment, I don’t think there could have been a more perfect way to end this run off. Super Mario Maker will be missed, glad to have been with you on this journey.
Your MM1 content has been a big part of my life these last few years, Ryu. Mealtime, getting ready for work, you name it. Thanks for the epic content and nonstop humor.
Wouldn't mind seeing a flashback video of some of your favorite levels or best moments from SMM. Like beating the TAS level down to the last lives or the luigi themed level. Giving some thoughts on em. Gonna miss this. Thanks for playing
My Ryu story is that I found him through his extraordinarily hard games series about six years ago, and instantly clicked. Since his GPB 2 playthrough, I was a regular viewer. I was there for the start of MM2, I was there for episode 100 for both super expert series’ and several other milestones. There were two or three periods where I took a break from his material, but I’ve always tended to come back. As Ryu mentioned, Mario maker always felt fresh and new, there weren’t any two super expert runs that were similar. We’re still seeing things we’ve never seen before nine years after the game’s come out. And it’s particularly enjoyable to watch someone so good at Mario conquer so much trash (and treasure) hidden in the depths of this game. This has been a wonderful journey. Thank you Ryukahr.
Well said, man. 👍 I think I feel similarly, knowing that even if I don't watch Mario content for a while, there's comfort in knowing Ryukahr is still doing his thing and the entertainment will be here whenever I wish to check it out. 😎🎮
I just had to explain to my daughters I've literally been watching you their whole lives XD (and having them watch with me) and then explain you're not retiring just Mario Maker one is going away. Sad day. Thanks for the memories, here's to the next decade! 🎉
I'm so glad I found this series when I was a kid. I have been watching these videos for so long, even now as an adult in college. Thanks for the smiles, Ryu!
And those cosmetic costumes you could add to the SMB theme added so much charm to the game and inspired many themed levels that just would not fit with SMM2. It's sad to see it go, but while it lasted, it was magical.
You've always been my favorite Mario streamer. You don't get mad or frustrated. I don't think I've ever even seen you truly tilted. The worst jank and the meanest troll just gets a laugh. Looking forward to the next chapter!
Thank you for the videos, Ryukahr. I also got Super Mario Maker 1 in September 2015. I have uploaded some levels between 2015 - 2017. Unfortunately I never got to see you play any of them. One RU-vidr, NintendoCapriSun, played one of my levels in January 2016. It wasn’t until February 2017 that I discovered Ryukahr and watched his Mario Rom Hack videos and Mario Maker videos. Whatever happens next Ryu, we will continue to support you as fellow Mario fans. Sure hope we get Super Mario Maker 3!
One of the craziest things to me is that there was always a chance of him getting a first clear on amy level, but now? They're all complete, and so is him saying, "stage one with 100 lives." Idk how to feel about honestly, but I'm really glad I got to see it through
I know I'm coming here a few months late but I 100% agree. Nintendo really made an awful decision getting rid of it. No idea why that choice was made in the first place
Crazy mate. I've been watching your videos on and off ever since 2017, it used to be my pre-sleep ritual to one of your videos. Thanks for the good times and the enjoyment you made me find in discovering thid game!
Well, you can always do one of these Mario Maker 2 challenges: - *100 Mario Challenge* You play 5 levels in Endless on each of the 4 difficulties (Easy Normal Expert Super Expert). 20 in total, and Lives don't carry over. - *1 Mario Pyramid Challenge* Starting with 1 Life, you play 4 Easy, 3 Normal, 2 Expert, and 1 Super Expert in Endless. Lives DO carry over on this one. - *Earned Skip Challenge* Play a traditional Endless Run by 1 of 4 ways of Earning a Skip: - Get around each Bend, or Complete a Page - Either get a First Clear or World Record - One-Shot a Level (Personal Favorite) - Play 5 course off the New Tab. Refresh the Tab after clearing a level. You Earn a Skip by One-Shoting a Level, for a Max of 5 Skips (another fun one).
always watched you after stressful days at work, just something easy to unwind to. have never played mario maker and have never had an interest in doing so, but your channel randomly showed up in my recommended, and honestly, it’s been a godsend. thanks ryu!
The last bit made me drop actual tears as I'm writing this, because even if I'm not that old of a viewer to recognize any of the old footage you put, brought me back to when I first started watching your videos. I remember being like 13 -15 (or younger, I'm really bad with timelines) when I started seeing you, and when I ran out of current videos I'd go and see older videos back to some of the first no skip runs you uploaded, I would spend literally all day (because I wasn't going to school at that time) watching your videos tirelessly, and to this day this is the only channel that makes me "scream" excited whenever I see something impressive, or leaves me with my mouth open whenever you make something clever, and seeing that last level cheesed reminded me of why I fell in love with this channel to begin with, seeing you start to think of a way to cheese the level and working until you got it never fails to entertain the hell out of me, and sometimes even started noticing some cheeses that you could've done and didn't because you didn't see it, things like that when I had barely ever seen mario maker footage and haven't still played it. I met you through Zeta ssj's videos, because he called out an american mario maker youtuber that was very good at the game, and I was like "wth, I'll check it out" and it's the best decision I've made. I'm 19 years old now, 20 this year, and even if I haven't really been very active on this channel, I still every now and then find me 30 minutes to an hour to have a wonderful time here. Thank you for all the content you've made, and back in the day I was always like "This guy's content is great, I really wish he got the recognition he deserves" and now seeing that you're on almost at a million subscribers is absolutely insane and makes me so proud. It's long enough of a comment already, but it just brings me so much memories seeing mario maker go, and fun fact: I actually learnt to speak english how I currently do because of you, I knew the basic concepts when I started watching your videos, but didn't really understand a whole lot of the things you were saying, but as time passed I started matching certain scenarios to the things you said, and little by little I started learning more and more, and today I'm a professional english-spanish medical interpreter and am very happy with my life. Long story short, you changed my life! I do not have nearly enough words to thank you for the countless hours of entertainment (and learning) you've provided me, I hope another 9 years from now I can still come to the channel to have a good time. Thank you, Ryukahr.
I used to watch your SMM videos with my ex, then we got a Switch and I started playing SMM2. Eventually we broke up, he got to keep the Switch, I never played again, but I stayed here, watching you play 💛definetly gonna miss the "boyoyoyoyoing"
been here since 2018 love all the stages and memories youve played and given me, never woulda thought such thngs even possible in mario until i found this channel. you blow my mind every time i watch these crazy levels and yo make it loo easy lol. also you got me into the world of romhacks wich have gtten me much better at mario. i brrrreat mw dozens of imes and was always looking for something to push my skill. stumbling upon your chanel got me on the smm hype train and id never be as good as i am if i haent doneso. thanks for the amazing lessons you taught me in smm1 and i looking foward to all the cool things we can figure out and accomplish in smm2+ keep up the amazing work ryu! hope to learn more and witness further greatness in the future!
Here we are, so many years later. It’s crazy to me that I’ve been watching you since I was in middle school, and now I’m a year into college. Growing up with this game and with your videos has been an experience I wouldn’t ever trade for anything. Thanks for the memories SMM1 ❤️
Ryukahr, watching you play Mario Maker has always been something special. I've always been so inspired to watch because to see your skill level, and your perseverance to overcome each new challenge, no matter how difficult-the dreaded "no-skip" challenge-is something I could never dream of personally attaining such a level. Plus you radiate a unique kind of presence, are entertaining, and know how to keep a conversation going while you play. These videos have long stood as a regular tradition in which I commonly watch one a few times a week in order to unwind. Nothing like relaxing to a good Mario Maker video. I hope you continue to play Mario Maker 2, and find new kinds of ways to make content meaningful and interesting to you on that game. Perhaps the deathless expert challenge can easily be moved to SMM2. Since the 30 lives/endless doesn't matter. And you can just see how far you can get. Or set a goal for the as of yet unattainable 16 levels. Here's to looking forward to the future.
@@jhsevs I'm hyped for a new Pokémon on a virtual switch 64 with less memory than 80's LCD game&watch. Who doesn't want the same thing in a new jacket on a console that regresses technologically and is weird and unplayable? If hell is repetition, Nintendo might be actual hell. And the thing that allows them to screw up so much and still make money is by remaking things from the 80's and 90's over and over and over and over.
thank you ryu for all the amazing memories you gave me I started watching you around 2015/2016 when I studied at university. those lonely nights were filled by your content mostly mario maker 1. I will never forget the good times I had here ☺
12:02 That shelljump shit clutch was SICK AND THAT LAST CHEEEEEESE!!!! So glad you immortalized Mario Maker through your videos man, i'll still be watching them from time to time. WE LOVE YOU MARIO MAKER
Thank you for years of Mario Maker 1 content, Ryu. I’m blessed to have found your channel over 5 years ago now and am looking forward to the years to come. For now though it’s the end of an era… I know you like music so here’s a song about goodbyes: It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday - Song by Boyz II Men How do I say goodbye to what we had? The good times that made us laugh Outweigh the bad I thought we'd get to see forever But forever's gone away It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday I don't know where this road Is going to lead All I know is where we've been And what we've been through And if we get to see tomorrow I hope it's worth all the wait It's hard to say goodbye to yesterday And I'll take with me the memories To be my sunshine after the rain It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday And I'll take with me the memories To be my sunshine after the rain It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday Stage one with 100 lives ❤
Thanks for so many MM1 memories, Ryu. I've been with you since back when you still had a regular 9-5 job and streamed on Friday evenings on RU-vid (we even had a couple one-on-one Mario 35 battles against each other back in the day). I will definitely miss 100 man Super Expert, but I'm sure there's a lot more Mario fun to come.
I really appreciate your 100 Mario challenge videos, helped me keep my sanity during lockdown and helped me through anxiety attacks during dissertation writing
i started watching you play mario maker when i was in university 6 years ago (when you still swore in your videos!). I was having a tough time back then and your videos would cheer me up and help me fall asleep (i mean that as a compliment). Fast forward, im still watching and now i have a good job, a beautiful daughter and a little dog that is currently sat by me feet in my own home. Thank you for making life feel a little lighter in some dark times
Thus ends an era. Personally, I think I only have about three years invested in watching various Ryukahr videos, but in those that time, he's had various periods where the majority of my time on RU-vid was watching his content; don't expect that will change. 😊 Still, with Mario Maker 1&2 being so much of that content, it will be weird to see that segment no longer here. It has been fun, though ,and I expect that will remain the same. Thank you very much for so much fun content, and looking forward to more fun content to come!
I remember watching one of your early streams and you played a level I made, I never forgot that and I was pleased to see how much your channel grew when you appeared on my recommended screen again a few years ago :)
Just watched it with my kids during dinner. Been watching since the beginning. Seven-year-old teared up. He’s watched you his entire time being alive. Thanks for everything and keep going!!!!!
as someone who watched since 2016, thank you for everything. there was a point in my life where your uploads were the only thing i looked forward to, and they always made my day so much better. although life is a lot better now, i still love your videos, thank you
Pretty sure I've been subbed to Ryukahr and a regular viewer of SMM content since 2016. I found him through watching a smaller Australian youtuber, A-Game, who did some challenge runs of 100 man - I think including the "no skip" Ryu has always been known for, and an "all-difficulties with 100 lives" sort of thing. My vague memory on what happened is I think I really enjoyed the latter of those and searched for more videos like it on YT and found Ryukahr, but I also might've just been recommended Ryu tbh. Either way I've stuck with the dude and his 100 man no skip series since very early on. I remember the Ryubeanie days (I think he was never hatless back then - sometimes a cap instead), I remember the Ryulympics, I remember the SMM2 multiplayer days, and a bunch of the ROM hacks (don't think I'd seen any before Ryu). Thanks for making great content, and for always being remarkably chill and happy in the face of insurmountable hot garbage. _This_ , has been the perfect run all along.
Thank you, Ryu. You might not remember but you happened to play one my levels during a livestream and when I saw who beat it I googled your name and found your channel. I’ve been subscribed ever since. I even made a ridiculous troll level for you called “get that garbage outta here” and sent it to you for Twitter levels and watching you play that is still something I find hilarious. You’re the reason I got back into Mario maker. I still remember my first super expert clear with no skips. I remember all the crazy 0 clear levels I beat. I had so much fun with this game and It all started with you. Thank you so much, and if they ever preserve the MM1 levels, I got one on there id still like to see you play. Here’s to the future. I’ll be sticking around for whatever it is.
I would watch your live streams in 2016 and 2017. Crazy how time flies by. Sometimes I’ll still go back and have them on as background noise for me to fall asleep to. A bitter sweet ending to an era.
I still remember finding you by watching Carl Sagan uploading his incredibly hard getting over it level with the nighttime wind in it. When he highlighted your duck jump near the top when you took a hard misstep I knew I was watching a god tier Mario maker player. Thanks for all the laughs, smiles, and heartbreaking defeats in Mario maker 1 and 2, as well your speed runs of Mario 64. I love that I can tune in to watch a video and see a guy having the time of his life while playing near impossible levels that would make most players rage quit. Keep up the great work brother!
A moment of silence and YEARS of appreciation for this wonderful game who created a legend (Ryu) and also A) For ''stage 1 100 lives'' B) ''Boyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyoyyoyoyoyiiiiiiiiiiiink''
Thank you Ryi for all the moments, I have been watching your videos for 7 years, they were amazing However, we are still missing that iconic 12 mid airs…
I still remember you playing my SMM levels in your livestream back in 2015/2016. I also have a memory of you celebrating because you got an award at work. Been a long time, congrats on your success, Ryu.
I think maybe I've been here since 2017 I love watching your Mario videos. These videos have brought me great comfort, I used to watch these with my mom, she passed away in 2021 from COVID and these videos were something we always enjoyed.
I've been watching for about 3 years now. I know you have many more games to play and videos to make, but it really does feel like a chapter is closing with Mario Maker 1 shutting down. Love you man! Stage 1 with 100 lives . . .
18:29 - If Nintendo had a “BRAIN CELL” they “WOULD NEVER” shut the “MM1” server down but “NINTENDO” has “NEVER KNOWN” how to “INTERNET PROPERLY” so just “A VERY SAD DAY INDEED”….. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 Can’t wait to see what’s next Ryu…..
What a ride, your SMM content was what got be coming to YT regularly back in 2018 I think. Every day I would watch you play, and you were streaming regularly on YT I believe at the time.
I can’t believe this era of Mario maker is coming to an end. I remember all the way back in 2015 when I was in 6th grade, I wrote a school essay about Mario maker and I found it on my google drive today. I haven’t really played MM1 since 2018, but watching your videos really brought me back to this time in my life and my amazing memories of playing this game 😄
I'm so glad I subscribed back in early 2016. I remember Ryu had around 2k subs. I've been here for so long and I'm so glad to to see it to the end. Almost a full decade of Ryu and I've never gotten tired. RIP to Mario Maker 1 and here's to the future :)
Youre the one that got me into MM Ryu, I never played the game but somehow found your videos and never left! Thanks for all the great memories and videos
Your smm videos reminds me of every time i had breakfast, lunch or dinner alone by myself when I was studying medicine for 7 years in Moscow,Russia 🇷🇺 Its very nostalgic and heartwarming for me thinking about those days, Thank you so much man for every memory and company when I was down and away from my family. 💔❤
I started watching you 5 years ago, your videos got in my recommendations right after a serious break up, I was terribly depressed and for two weeks literally all I could do was binge your Mario Maker 1 videos. Thank you so much for all the content over the years, and may your content continue for many years to come!
I've been here on and off over the last 7ish years. I'd binge your content for about a week at a time every now and again. Plenty I missed without a doubt. But it's really extremely inspiring to see you still at it after so long. It's genuinely just heartwarming. Personally I'm not super upset to see MM1 servers go down since I wasn't super active playing it. But it's still a day to allow for reflection. Hope you're doing well Ryu and just congrats on all the accomplishments you've made in the time you've played and shared this game. And good luck to the future too. ;)
Been watching you since 2016. Thanks for all the amazing times. You're truly my go-to comfort watch at the end of a long day. What a great send off this was to Mario Maker. RIP in piece eternally big for Princess Peach.
Ryu! In the last seven years you have been a constant support and a role model for me. I'm glad to have met your videos back when I ventured into learning to hear English. Thanks to you, learning a new language became an amusing adventure. On top of that, and more importantly, getting to watch you, Tammy and the BlackPack family helped me on my darkest moments, and your approach to life inspired me to be a more relaxed, comprehensive and overall better person. I'm sure that your brightness will keep guiding you towards more success and helping more people. I couldn't thank you more!
