My service business has been struggling in all three of these areas so thanks for making this video! Could use help on deciding if I should actually start a new business if I’m having trouble with a business partner.
Sam Ovens provides (in my opinion) the best business content on the web, and yet, he's still only at 80k subs. I ask myself why... Is it because he's making long-form content that challenges people's mind & patience. Probably. Is it because he's being honest, saying what people need to hear and not what they want to hear. Probably. Is it because he's _not_ speaking in a very dramatic & intense manner to inflict a lot of emotions within people to spike their dopamine levels. Probably. Is it because he's teachings mainly get recognized & appreciated by other INTJS's that share the same values Probably. Is Sam's 479 published videos that only have generated 80k subs the result of an interesting fact? A fact that explains that people value emotions spikes and short adrenaline rushes more than information that can change their entire life for the better? Probably. Will Sam Ovens keep releasing these videos because he's a machine that knows that his sophisticated messages will not go mainstream (yet) but don't mind this because he's making a very strong impact that resonates deeply with the crowd that matters. Hopefully.
Good analysis!:-) I suppose the style of the videos is already a selection of the right kind of people. The 80k might be a preselection of people that have a high chance of succeeding by joining the consulting accelerator course.
I think these older videos help us all not to make the same mistakes in our time 2022. I appreciate you keeping these older videos up because how else are we going to learn to do better. Blessings and prayers to you Sam. Thank you for this. You are truly a blessing to people.
Hi Sam , nobody teaches how to start a start up ,nobody teaches it,and nobody can teach it better than you. How to start a company, innovation, management, product, scaling, taking your company from zero to one pls make a series on it. Long detailed videos
For a start up forget logos and spending time on your "team" finding a group of skilled people etc. Instead focus on one process that converts sales for your business. Once it works start increasing it by doing more of the same process. Do NOT hire a single person until that is in place. Starting any other way guarantees failure.
Thank you very much Sam. I agree with you, sometimes we have to take one step backwards to take two forward. Thank you for giving us a honest perspective on what it takes to win in life and in business. Keep it up!
Brilliant as always. I'm in a situation where I need to pay back my debt; healthwise, professionally and financially. It's all a mess but now it's clean-up-time! Back to life and business. Hope to see more of how you stay healthy and focused, and what you recommend to people who are unstructured / jumping around between actions etc. You are be able to give accessible information in a creative and very focused way that I somehow connect with on a deep level.
this is epic. you provide excellent insight into the complexities of running and growing a business. im certain that only a small fraction of business leaders are conscious of the points you make here, and this can be the difference between success and failure. Thanks Sam
Wow this is pure value than most online gurus, you just became one of my top people to listen to (my new mentor) 😳🤯, you have a lot of videos and it’s gonna be hard to cycle all this info in me until I can learn it by heart
Excellent Sam :)) You're on the right track. Keep it up! Just wanted to add to Sam's advice about innovating... I sent out notifications to all my customers for next year that I'll be limiting seats by 100% so I can go back to innovating on product while also creating a waiting list (and notifying higher yearly prices) to avoid any impending "mess" as Sam puts it. Thank you Sam!
thank you for providing a breadth of examples because time and financial are the obvious examples. It also helped to know from your example of WHEN it makes sense to get a team, because it helps me contain the stress of whether or not I need a team, because it answers the question, "when should I think about having a team?" The answer I got was when the debt it has on my life doing my work outweighs the financial cost of offloading. Appreciate you.
Sam - Although Im not in the consultancy field, I get a kick out of watching your videos for re-framing my mindset on overall business activities. A lot of what you discuss is also very relatable into ones own personal life, not just business. Have you ever thought about a branch of training that summarises a lot of these topics you discuss in your videos? Im only suggesting from the view of not being in Consultancyand being a shareholder / co-owner of a business and enjoying your business analyses/insight.. As a side-note, year 18 and your huge transition from big team to small team. Although a smart business decision for net profit, must have been difficult to say goodbye to people that helped clean up the 'mess'! Thanks for sharing the videos : )
SAM WE NEED YOU VERY MUCH....THANK YOU 1000 TIMES!!!PLEASE FIND TIME TO MAKE THESE VIDEOS I WATHCH THEM AND THEY HELP ME A LOT!!!!!YOU ARE MY BEST FRIEND IN U TUBE......I FOLOW YOUR TIPS AND THEY ARE MEGA HELPFULL YOU ARE A MIRACLE KID!!!! I DONT WANT TO PRESS YOU BUT NEVER STOP MAKING VIDEOS!!!!THAAAAAANK YOU!!!!
excellent presentation! The item that appeal the most to me was step 6: 1 step back and two step forward. You're right most people have difficulty doing this because it is painful, people don't like to perceive themselves as failing, making less money, etc, but you have already said this in past videos 'if you don't make a sacrifice, its your dream that will be sacrificed.' Looking forward to your next video.
Nice videos, Sam! I am going to teach your lessons to my small children. When they are 12, they will know what some people do not learn in their lifetime. They will grow up into very happy people because they will be wise and bear fruit in due season.
I know it's my confirmation bias talking, but thanks for the words of encouragement and wisdom-drop on how to manage business, especially the 1-step-back-2-steps-forward bit. Against the advice of my peers, I quit my (boring, exhausting, but well-paying) day job to put more time & energy into a business using my talents. Whatever my future holds, thanks again for sharing your stories, Sam - that's invaluable experience talkin'.
I loved your comparison of scale/debt with bulking/cutting. I definitely will use that when trying to scale a business :) thanks again! Greetings from Ecuador
Great video and encouraging. My lifestyle, disposable income has gone backwards. But I'm wary of the golden handcuffs. But you do forget. Thanks for the nuggets and reminder.
I've never seen someone explain it so clearly and concisely. This reminds me of the quote "“If You Can't Explain it to a Six Year Old, You Don't Understand it Yourself” from Einstein. These are the real down to earth people you need to seek, the real deal. No uncle G, Tai Lopez BS on how to make million dollars in sales in 2 days lol. I salute you.
Sam I always appreciate your work. I have a question for you: I recall you once said that you are not a fan of subscription-based models as opposed to the fixed price. I have a course that I sell for a fixed price but most people in my niche have subscription-based products. I understand when most people are doing something that it is probably the wrong thing to do. Could you elaborate on why you prefer a fixed price?
There are people who are succesful but don't know why exactly. They have difficulty teaching how to become succesful. Their teachings are superficial. In contrast, Sam grew succesful from being an employee at Vodafone without specialized knowledge of anything, so Sam knows exactly how you can become successful. His course consulting accelerator shows everything in detail and does not leave 1 stone unturned. It is an amazing life changing course. Thank you Sam and team!
He tells it on this channel in his old videos. His course consulting accelerator has an indepth model on how he went from nothing to a successful consultant.
The you make Sam, very few people do, you are doing a great thing to humanity. I admire you a lot and soon going to start a start up. Pls hire more people so that you make more of these kind of videos on Start Up, scale, growth, management, innovation etc etc. We lack innovation because 99.9% of the world things of globalization
Awesome video Sam, I went through the exact same process, I want to thank the almighty , I fixed it. I realised it was a good debt and invested all the money on myself, building my personnel brand and learning how to sell and close over the phone , If i had invested else where I would have not been able to manage my debt and would have collapsed.
Love the content. Would love your thoughts on dealing with negativity/hate from the outside (media/people/comments/etc)? Aka how do you deal with it - do you avoid it completely or how do you let it not get to you? Thanks!
Great video again, Sam :) Here's an idea for something to share - when you are starting up (which may take up a lot of time, even years, before you get to something), how much do you share with family/friends/etc.? I know its best to keep what is not ready to yourself (e.g. your product/funnel/contact list or whatever), as otherwise you're asking for gratification for something that doesn't exist, but on the other hand you do need some support and advice, maybe not on the business itself ( you got the CA for that lol ), but for other aspects? I am leaning towards not sharing anything till' you're at least a bit successful on the market, but i think it might be an interesting point.
I'd like to learn more about the team members needed as you continue to scale. What were priorities at the different stages? What are your thoughts on structuring a team and finding the "right" talent? Thanks for your videos.
Sam, thanks god or whatever that you exist. The advice in this video is exacrly what I need now. I've been stuck with admin for years now, my income hasn't changed for years because of that and I'm depressed.
Video Idea: how to find your Polaris star in Business and more importantly in life. You reference them often but what do we do when we don’t know what they are? How to we figure out what they are? After all, you can’t hit a target you can’t see; so I think this kind of video would be super helpful Thanks as always Sam!
Thanks Sam. I would like to hear about the human problems and human solutions. What are you learning about yourself and others in terms of the necessary conditions for success? How do the principles of "cultivate for long term" apply?
Sam, please make a video on managing your work time, how you & Elon do so much in so little time. Work tries to take up more time than needed and I manage to do very little at the end of the day.
FOCUS 90% of your time on what brings in the most profit the repetitive action that is the anchor. You can then start to hire and delegate with more revenue. If you can work on your business instead of in it that is when you get a lot done in the same time frame
How do you structure your Hand Written Notes, Notes in Evernote, or in google docs, how do you manage you bookmarks, and all the notes, so its easy, you can have access to the important things asap and a free from chaos, making double notes or not finding anything. How do you organize Notes, how do you achieve, digital you hand written notes, etc. That would be awesome :)
Future video idea: you talk about the universal equation... how exactly do we iterate in a complex system where there are so many variables and nothing's working yet, without fucking it all up and changing too much?
Sam how do you deal with loneliness and fomo from interrupting your focus when working on your business? It’s easy to say “just put the work in and ignore everything else” but it’s hard to not feel like you’re wasting your time sometimes and to keep going, thanks
taking into consideration your current skills, if you were to start again tomorrow almost from scratch (just a few thousand dollars into your account) and supposing your goal is solely capital accumulation, how much time do you think you would need to hit $1 000 000 in profit ? would you start off with consulting or with info courses right of the gate ?
Hi Sam, I have a question. How do you install good habits and deinstall bad habits? I want to get ready for entrepreneurship but I don't have the right habits yet. Thank you :-)
Great content as always. I will have to say that it always feels like you are not looking at me directly. Maybe you look at the cameras screen instead of the lens? Direct eye contact would make these videos even more enjoyable.
I would be interested in your inputs in form of people, mentos, books, courses, music, movies or shows, documentaries. Do you have criteria for what input you get and do you listen to Music? If so which music. Do you think it is a Form of affirmations?
