Hi Sam, I feel like I am a bit capped lately, capped on my potential. I am having all the right habits and a morning routine, and my business, that I recently started is also going in the right direction. I know my situation is not an airtight argument, I could make it airtight, attending to all the nooks and crannies. I just don't know how to go about it, the foundation and basis is set, just not optimized to the degree I would it to be. To formulate the problem: Foundation is set, how do I attend the details to make it air tight? P.s. I also wear a cap to keep hair under control lol P.s.s. never mind you just answered my question in the video.

I don’t know whether to go the route of a course, agency, SAAS. I’m already making money doing DWY services and I’m not sure if I should go the education route or continue down the service route.

Sam Oven's principles: * Student Obsessed What is best for the students is what is best for everyone. * Laser Focused Keep the main thing the main thing... eliminated distractions. * High Standards Great just is not good enough. * Long-Term Thinking Make short-term sacrifices for long-term success. * Lean and Frugal Constraints breed resourcefulness... do more with less. * Be Scientific Reason from first principles... use data... test and iterate. * Go ALL in Commit fully... work hard... take initiative... get things done. * Full Transparency Be brutally honest and transparent... even if it hurts... it helps. * Question Everything Ask why and hold nothing sacred in pursuit of the truth. * Invent Impossible Does not exist does not stop us from inventing it.

Hey Jacob, You're on the right track. I say this because you're actually aware of the issue and your honest about it. What I'd do is I'd start journaling. The results won't be immediate but they will be worth it. Journaling gives you an outlet to become more self-aware and it's an easy way to track your behaviour. "What Gets Measured Gets Improved" Peter Drucker (Journaling is a way to measure your behaviour). What do I mean when I say it helps you become more self-aware? Over time journaling will help you become aware of any of your limiting beliefs/ behaviours. It will help you get clarity on where you're headed (vision) which in turn will help you with being motivated. Vision inspires action. It's why having goals is so useful. How to start... So to start what I recommend is that you get a decent notebook and a pen you enjoy writing with. Do this because it will make writing easier. You want to make this as easy as possible so you actually do it. The goal for the first 30- 90 days is to get it so journaling becomes a habit. That’s it. Just get a good notebook and a pen you enjoy writing with. What are you going to write about? It doesn’t matter. At this point I'd avoid structure. The main focus is to get it so you consistently sit down for a period of time and start writing. Write whatever you want when you’re sitting there pen in hand. We’re keeping this simple so you actually do it. It doesn’t matter what you write about because the important thing here that you go through the motions. The bigger picture here is that you’re building a habit that will serve you for the rest of your life. Handling Resistance... You may have some resistance to getting started. What this looks like will be questioning the usefulness of doing this or having doubt that it will even work. You might ask yourself why you’re even bothering. Understand that’s a limiting belief that’s holding you back. To overcome this all you have to do is…. ---think about what you’ll get from it. I’ve helped you here by giving you a list of reasons why journaling is useful. Do this because this will shift your focus on to why journaling is important. ----Use positive self- talk. Actual assert to yourself by saying out-loud to yourself something like: “I’m doing this because journaling is important.” ----Then actually follow-through and do it. By then doing the activity its sends a clear message to your brain that this is something that you prioritise. What this does is it replaces whatever your limiting belief is right now with the belief that journaling is useful and it’s worth doing. Now, if you're wondering if it actually works... It does. I've been doing it for probably 5+ years now. In that time I've completely shifted my behaviour from an unemployed couch potato to someone who gets up at 6 every morning and starting my own business. I haven't changed as a person my habits and behaviours did. Journaling was a key cornerstone in that. I hope this helps. Tobias

NinjightNationCorp I said on the right track because at least he’s being honest with himself and admitting some faults he’s currently facing. Too many people bull shit themselves and look for someone or something else to blame. Because he’s being honest he can then work from that as opposed to ignoring the elephant in the room and getting nowhere. I agree with the action oriented approach, however I disagree with caring about the outcome getting rid of procrastination. You can still procrastinate even if you care about the outcome- most students care about getting a good grade but a lot still procrastinate. What works is simplicity- when something seems bigger in your head there is more resistance. Therefore break it down and make simple and as a result more actionable. Lastly, I’d say journaling is a more practical form of meditating. It leaves you with something that you can then reflect on. (I’m not discounting the traditional kind- if you read Aldous Huxley doors to perception you’ll see there is a very practical reason to chanting and things like that).

I remember how you said working a full time job and trying to build a business was extremely difficult. That's the order mold you're talking about. I stayed working my job for 3 years picking up shifts, living cheap and saved up money to quit and focus on it full time because I just couldn't shift from job mode to business mode. About a year and a half in you confirmed I was doing the right thing and that was when I really tightened expenses and worked more hours to stash savings. I just wish I had discovered you sooner.

Yes, I'm talking about your strategic and macro moves. Your big-picture plays are truly inspiring when studied correctly and I have learned (and have much to learn) from you. Probably more than anyone, you would know that you have only just scratched the surface of your journey to helping this world and I'm so excited to learn more from your well thought-out, perfectly devised chess moves in the future. Keep doing what you're doing, but actively keep that mind of yours open to new possibilities. You're destined for huge, great things! I know you know it! I am 70 now and wish I had known more of this when I was 20. One, out of the many topics, I loved was the "billionaire mind" anf the building blocks. Specifically, the foundational piece. If all things we need to learn sit on foundations and layerd, I'd like to learn more about strengthening each layer individually. I know in your paid programme you do talks about "the devil", that which wiped us out from the inside. So I know you cover that, but that's what I'd like to learn more about. The foundational layers. This is so awesome Sam, really excited to see the new direction you're taking Consulting.com. Your consulting program changed my life and shifted my paradigm. Now, you're shifting it again. Now you've got me pondering thing about advertising, but it makes sense. "Content is king", and maybe it's the best way to position yourself going forward as an expert that people go to, instead of you paying to show up in front of them. But that leads to a question that's plaguing me, and something I know you're thinking a lot about: without advertising, what is this new paradigm going forward that will become more valuable than paid advertising? Because people can't just be expected to show up at your doorstep. Across many industries we still have to "go to" the customer, much like you say "go to their level" and "get on their wavelength" to reach them. My mind is boggled trying to imagine the newest S curve you'll be going through but I can't wait to watch and learn like I always do. Thanks again Sam.

Perfect timing Sam! Was going through accelerator today. Niche selection has been the biggest challenge for a lot of students because as you go through life, you gain experience in many different areas. However, most people do not specialize in one given area. That said it took me over 12 months to finally fuse 2 niches together into one within the health and fitness industry. Perhaps updating accelerator with a "choosing your niche 3.0" where there's a deeper discussion about niche fusion or micro-niching would help but niche selection is definitely a big one. Side note - I noticed a lot of students defaulting to Facebook ads for XYZ clients, however, have no passion or love in that. I was one of those people for a long timeframe have recently switch gears.

I did the same. Nothing really gets my attention or passion for long. Multiple niches have popped up and seemed good but after some research and time, I lost interest. Ended up thinking "ehh someone else can do it, I'm not that interested" So I defaulted to doing ads for a few companies just to make some cash until I have a better idea of what I actually have a passion for. I think I purchased your course a year ago and never picked a niche.

I'm in that building phase and it 100% DOES HAPPEN, you tell people about it, they ask when it's going to be done, you say a date you have in mind, then you're late to it. I'm in the late part. But some time ago I told my friends I won't tell them about it anymore until I have "the locomotive running" well. You know, in case it flops. Also I thought I was just bad at timing and meeting deadlines in general, but you said it takes A LOT of effort to get it running (totally agree) and you miss your own deadlines, so I hope it's just for now. BTW aren't you afraid someone will "take" your idea?

Hey Sam, glad that you're making these again. They bring me a lot of value. The question I have is this: How does one balance the need to be self-critical with the equally important factor of being confident in one's own abilities and able to move forward? I know that the right answer is some balance of the two but I haven't found it yet. If I build myself up too much in my head I become complacent. If I am totally critical of everything I do, I don't do anything. What's the resolution between these two extremes ?

The biggest change I saw here was you asking us to subscribe - I remember a video of you saying people asking you to subscribe is them stealing your time, now it's you! Ha - but i get it and love your content, straight forward and valuable. For me, i'd love to see a video breaking down decision-making and thinking differently. Cheers

Hey Sam! Thanks for your content man. The videos come out few and far between, but when they do it's always value packed. That would lead to a question I have for you. In past videos you talk alot about your discipline and focus, and considering the level of success you have achieved, it's incredibly admirable how long as consistently you've maintained these traits. Alot of people ask for simple tips like 'how can I be disciplined.' or 'how can I be focused'. I was wondering if you could take that a step further and talk about the most effective application of discipline. For example, to generate sales in a business, a owner may have incredible discipline, and holds himself accountable to cold call 50 businesses a day. He may have a competitor with equal ammounts of discipline who instead emails 100 businesses a day, and so on. Once someone achieves that 'monk mode' level of discipline, how can they best determine the functionality of application, and how can they best hone their discipline to be less about brute force and more about efficiency and effectiveness. Obviously one option is to just measure the result and analyze the outcome, but I was curious if you could take it a step beyond that with your expertise. To summarize; -How can one ensure their discipline is being applied in the most effective way possible? -Are there different forms of discipline? Which is best for each task / problem? -Is there a point / situations where discipline is harmful as supposed to being a tool? Thanks so much Sam! Stoked for your future content. Have a great day mate! 🙏

You a somewhat right. But it doesn't have to take that much to be successful. 50 cold calls a day is not what Sam recommends - you'd get burnt out!

Hi Sam. Great video. Thank you for the valuable content. Biggest problem/dilemma I have at the moment is achieving "success in the workplace". I have gone for a few promotions in the last 2 years and it hasn't gone my way. Yes, I know it may be an issue with execution and performance ( I have consciously worked in this a fair bit) but equally how do I really know if this if this is the path I'm suppose to go on. I'm aware that failures is where we learn the most but when do you cut your losses and take another avanue. I recently watched your video about doing what we love and finding what we are passionate about and this helped me immensely on this topic. Not sure if your answer will repeat the advice from your "love" vid but thought I would ask anyway. Thanks again Sam. Danny.👍

Hey Sam, glad you’re back. Video suggestion would be to talk about how to find staff and train them up. Doesn’t matter which industry we’re in hiring staff is always the hardest thing. I run a patisserie manufacturing company/online store and finding staff is definitely the hardest thing. Even finding a “good” cleaner is hard to find. I’ve asked a lot of business owners what their struggles are and staff is always on the top of the list. Your help/advice on hiring would be awesome. Thanks

About adversitising x content value... I have just heard this following quote from the guy behind the scenes of the most successful launch campaigns: "The more people watch your videos and DON'T buy your stuff, the more people WILL buy your stuff" He calls it the paradox of content. It alligns a lot with what you said about the weekly videos.

Integrating business and purpose/creativity - it seems like they are opposite poles such as order & chaos. There’s an internal conflict in myself between producing art and making a business out of it. Each requires a significant shift in mindset.

I want to tell you that I like the new Sam Ovens with long hair, fewer gimmicks, more education and giving us a glimpse of how your mind works. This is quality content, and I see why it converts more than cheesy ads (which is how I discovered you, btw!). You are helping me get clear from a very chaotic brain. Thank you!

Eternally grateful for your videos. My biggest challenge is: when happiness to you means Success + Social Life (Friends, Girlfriend), how to find the right balance between both. I work 20 hours a day, but I'm 19, and the loneliness of entrepreneurship can be extreme... Much appreciated, Sam.

Sam- Thank you- love this one. Your content has radically changed our approach to business- As a creatives in business, you showed us that we under-valued the importance of documenting and creating systems- and over valued "new" (read shiny objects) - we now understand we need both- but in proper ratios. In marketing- your teaching to look for a specific need (problem to solve) before trying to sell a service has been a world changer for us. That is why I was really excited to hear you mention that you are creating a space that is forest themed for your new offices- as this is what our team specializes in - and finally gives us the opportunity to give back to you. We build commercial themed environments. (You can see our most recent trees at Museum of the Bible in DC in the exhibit featuring Nazareth on the story floor of the museum) We would love to offer our services to you at cost- as a thank you for the value you have brought to our lives. If this is something that would be helpful to you please email me personally at artistnate@gmail.com

I really appreciate the analogies Guru-Team leader / Order - Chaos. That increases my ability to describe and diagnose my own client issues, and speak to them in simple terms. This stuff is high value to me. My biggest challenge is my low self-esteem, it limits me as I perfect things and I am afraid that I keep take too long to reach the next level of play. My stuff is way overkill most of the time.

I really like the way you change small things to break habits. The challenge im currently facing is trying to grow a business while struggling with cashflow which pushes me to only think short term trying to grasp at the next weeks wages rather than thinking long term.

More tested, tried, and true ways to get mindset changes dialed in so progress can be made. I've been readying Psycho-Cybernetics and reviewing week 2 of your Consulting Accelerator over and over again, trying to adapt it to myself and still find it hard to get the change that I need. More precise and effective mindset change methods. Perhaps away to amplify mindset change feedback. Mindset changes seem to happen at a glacial pace and there appears to be little to no feedback, so I fall off and fail. Thanks.

i feel like the opposite of business advice and a whiteboard is not heavy metal, but hanging on a beach with friends, making music and enjoying whatever comes at you. To let go of any control. And gratefulness. :) Thanks for your work though, it's really valuable. How do we balance now and later?

I totally agree with your synthesis. I have rotated between roller coaster like phases between order and chaos peaking in one over a long time before the other with many smaller peaks and valleys in the interim. When peaking in order realizing what you’re saying here seeing the value of the other side, and letting that show its flaws to have both full spectrums of universes to harmonize them into one like the state of conception for a prenatal fetus in its first week in the womb, where the first cells multiplying look like two worlds colliding.

Not being able to engage to other people and make me look like a posible business partner due my lack of charisma. It’s imposible to make business if your potential clients don’t trust your abilities , or simply if they don’t like you. Things are lot easier when they see potential in you from the start. It’s more powerfull than any sales funnel. Even if you are not an expert, if you like them they are more lickely see you as one. I think this point is very important and no one talks about it. It’s aplied to business and life in general. (Excuse my english. It’s not my mother tongue.) Thanks for your amaizing videos!

That’s an incredibly interesting quote about advertising being like sex. What hugely successful companies do you know of that don’t pay for advertising? I can’t think of any and not sure I believe that theory. My main struggle in business is finding the time and resources to build and scale it while maintaining my other obligations, i.e. building while having a job. Glad you’re back, love your channel!

Thanks for the video Sam. Here's what cripples me - How to give up or abandon what you already have to go the next level. Its hard to let go of what you've achieved and shatter it yourself, even deep down you know it's gonna be for the better. But there's a lot risk and walking out of comfort zone. Whether it be beginners who want to quit their job to go full time, or like becker who dump all business and focuses on markethero. At every stage it happens that what brings you here won't bring you there. Its similar to the chaos think that u have mentioned. Reinvite them and create a new S curve. I would love to hear your atomic breakdown on the psychology, science and strategy behind how that could be done. How to ingrain that, so we can keep shatter ourselves and go to the next level.

Knowing whether the thing you're building is exactly what people want, niche validation I guess. Second thing, knowing whether the next move I'm making in my business is going to be big enough to get us up to the next level.

Hey Sam, a business friend put me on to you recently, and I'm in extreme gratitude of your content and your realness. I'm in year 3 of running my own online coaching business, achieving great results for my clients (also run retreats), and the main challenges I am facing are: 1. Acquiring (enough) new clients 2. Charging enough per client (undervaluing myself) 3. Stuck in a soloprenuer mindset - unsure / anxious about creating a team as I can't afford it right now, and in all honesty, I have no need for one yet, but I don't want to stay stuck playing a small solo game either as I want to be able to scale (something) eventually. 4. Unsure if I'm conveying my message clearly enough / crafting offers 5. Copywriting to convert sales Thank-you kindly in advanced for any actionable advice you can offer. Megan
