But Sam! You are here on youtube too! You know you have gained clients from providing value on social media outside of Ads! I think its simply a manner of knowing what you want to do, and what tools can help you build that or get you to that place. You and Gary are way more similar than you think. Just different scales. Show me a successful person focused on helping people build their dreams, rather than purchase a product - that had never been present on social media.

I would 100% agree with Sam and this video, but a variable it seems we are forgetting is that if you read all the comments saying 'thank you' and 'you helped me so much' and etc. Those people were helped out and their lives improved because of this social media stuff that Sam released, like this video. So if you want to help a lot of people, then you might actually want to consider social media as it is free and an amazing platform to reach a LOT of people. Yes, social media might be a distraction to the CEO who just wants massive business success but it can also be a tool to the CEO who want to help a lot of people.

Makes sense, couple questions - why focusing on cash flow is better than on profit if man point of business is profit? Or is it along the hippie lines of "take care of cash flow and profit will come itself"? As for being known, being known can bring you more clients to the business. I believe it could be even 10 or 100 fold more in comparison to someone unknown, all other things being equal.
@annevanduren7820

Yes, your content and message is spot on. The exception I would make is....according to the value system demonstrated by your select business leaders...the ethos represents "The top INSIDER minority"... The top 10% and above of analysts and solution finders... These business people, as said are not concerned or overly paying attention to outside appearances. They are paying attention and keeping their eye on monitoring INSIDE business performance. The book title creates a misconception of the actual INSIDE message.

One of the best of your videos frankly Sam I watch you from a quite bit and I can see you progression a lot in depth thinking. You know, I didn't watch you a lot when you did the same stuff that other do becAuse I didn't see value added because and it's repetition without any depth. Keep the good work you Rock it.

Grabbing this book. Cant wait to read. Idk why but I have a feeling this is why I got the results I did in sales even though I was an outsider of the industries I worked in like youth ministry. I have developed a methodology that increases a company’s revenue by 100% in less than 30 days.

Sam I like your content, good job man. I got this idea from this vid that being this different way like the CEO's you talked about for good numbers would be easier for some people. And that's fine, but even then most dont use this way of thinking that they have.

If you´re out doing public appearances then you´re not doing that, because that isn´t that. So if you´re doing that you´re not doing that, and if you´re doing that then you´re not really doing your job. - S. Ovens. Jokes aside, thanks for the insightful videos!

Ah Sam, this is fantastic news for me! I like to think for myself, after this video and "Outsiders" I shall try to do that a lot more. I'm reading a lot of books you suggest, and doing the one-book-a-week thing. Yes, I do listen to what you say, Sam Ovens, because you analyse why things work or don't work, and from first principles, like in Physics. I'm trained in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, and I analyse code (sometimes Mathematics) all day. Thanks Sam, I have downloaded those letters to shareholders, and added those books to my Amazon list. Amazon always suggests that Elon Musk book to me, knew I should read it.

16:04 Most successful founders / CEO’s = mathematicians & engineers (problem solvers, builders, systems thinkers). Approach business as an engineering problem, with a particular focus on cash flow instead of profit. 22:10 Running a company based on company perception, you’ve got a ticking time bomb on your hands. At end of day what really matters is value. You can fool people for a short period of time on perception, but over time perception will fade away and people will always weigh you based on value. Good CEO’s ignore perception and focus on value (Buffett / Ben Graham quote - stock market in short term is a voting machine, in long term is a weighing machine). 28:30 When you go against someone’s firm beliefs, you’re going to cause some drama.

Reading the book and watching the video, I started to think how these days VC funds actually promote activities that are not what unconventional CEOs would do e.g. focus on revenue growth, and perception instead of long-term value. Would this be 1 reason to stay out of VC game?

Artwork is often tied to the perception of the artist. You _can_ be an anonymous art licensor or a ghostwriter, though. Artists often increase their profits by growing their brands and diversifying their income streams, like selling merch, perfume, makeup, collaborating with brands, etc.

Hmmm.... Elon Musk bought Tesla, he didn’t invented the cars at all. His genius resides in personal branding (everyone believe he’s a scientific genius, no, he is a financial genius and innovator listening to science) and reacting to marketing dynamics, and sales of course. And building an elite team. For instance : Release patent on the motor => motor need batteries which ARE patented. Ah! Or Invest more than he generate in innovation. Need cash-flow? Suddenly reveal his TRUE skill : sale. He decide to produce and sells for some millions of... mini flame-throwers?! I mea cmon. That’s ridiculous! He have a vision and a proven track record, but mostly, an *insane* personal brand. His fans are pathetic. He is supposed to be the « savior » of humanity and what not... Oh he is SO generous... no! He’s not. He simply know how to predict the market, take insane risks and generate insane cash-flow almost on demand. Tesla is not doing that well at all. But it became legendary because... branding! Then he gonna start to make real profits. Have a whole population - the middle-class- waiting for their own Tesla berline at 40K, solve the problems on select production that would cause too massive a recall on cheaper cars, and he got everyone ready to jump on their own tesla like wolves who haven’t eaten in 3 months time.

Omg! you are resonating with me big time, l am unconventional always have been i realise, and i am mildly eccentric and yes there are people who laugh at me mock me etc but at the same time i get people that admire support and respect me and it is usually the younger generation, the older generation are too stuck in their ways. programmed conditioned etc.. with both business projects i am taking a different approach thinking outside the box I call it, but i am already getting backs up and rejection with christians I deem ignorant and uneducated but God bless them at the same time as Jesus said forgive them Father for they do not know what they do hey, I believe in God Jesus Holy Spirit but it is the church man made church i question and do not trust, the hierarchy at the top of many of these churches that are there to dictate to people control them suppress them manipulate and deceive etc, hence the rejection and judgement etc... but i dont give a shit anymore because I am convicted and i totally believe in what i am doing and intend to teach and to get to this point in my journey which has encompassed blood sweat and tears I know what I am going to do is going to be powerful and I am a living example of what I will be teaching I am 'Authentic' I am 'Real' the real thing have i had to be patient and keep learning and learning yes, has it been challenging yes, but now i am ready to build on this Foundation the material, because the spiritual mental emotional being the Foundation is now aligned, is complete and it is getting that mix of the foundation right that is most important before building right, so now I am totally ready to build my empire... thanks Sam so needed to hear this, looks like i will be choosing to go with you as there was a toss up between a couple of other companies i was looking at.. cheers & namaste

It's clear Sam Ovens gets a lot more right than wrong. And really there's nothing wrong just because you frame a message a particular way and leave something out. But I do think it's worth mentioning that in light of that, Sam Ovens is wrong about one thing. Sam, when you say the marketing world has gone mad by making marketing tactic the main thing, I totally agree it's out of control, but there is a reason its sustaining itself and may for quite some time.
