Scapular Dyskinesis Exercises
Scapular dyskinesis is abnormal and improper scapular movement which is usually accompanied by the scapula sitting in an abnormal/aberrant position on the ribcage. Asymmetrical scapular biomechanics as a result muscular imbalance and weakness can result in shoulder pain. Scapular malpositioning, weakness, and scapular dyskinesis are common orthopedic and biomechanical findings in throwing athletes and shoulder patients. If the shoulder blade initiates it movement too late then apprehension or, more commonly, impingement may result, which can cause significant damage to the internal structures of the shoulder. The most important exercises for restoring proper arthrokinematic motion of the scapula should address the mid trap or middle portion of the trapezius muscle, the low trap or lower portion of the trapezius muscle, and the serratus anterior muscle.

u forgot about upper traps strenghten which is crucial in scapula dyskinesis

Thanks for the comment. Upper traps will be strengthened with some of these exercises, however, I rarely find it implicated in scapular dyskinesia beyond decreased tolerance to lengthening, especially in athletic populations.

@@OverheadAthletics I had scapular dyskinesis and because of it shoulder issues and what helped me the most was focus on upward rotation of the scapula strnghten mostly serratus in landmine press and strnghten upper traps by doing over head shrug / Pike push ups / over head carry

I have scapular dyskinesia, can do all this exercises with ease and been doing them for a while now. But when i try to put my arm either behind my back or behind my neck I can´t lift it or lower it a lot because the shoulder gets like stuck, what should I do?
