I love how this episode demonstrates in a fun/interesting way the importance of sleep to its audience, like if you don't sleep. Accidentally found an answer to your question about labor law in Bikini Bottom through another reaction channel. In Season 12, there’s an episode centered around Spongebob taking a break. It’s a five minute break, it happens every 20 years. If he doesn’t take it, Krabs gets fined. Naturally, Spongebob starts cleaning a table, almost getting Krabs fined, until he demolishes a wall, revealing a disused employee break room.

I can’t believe I didn’t think of this recommendation earlier, there was a cartoon show that aired on Cartoon Network in the early 2000’s called Code Lyoko! Almost every episode is school based as the 5 middle school main characters live at a boarding school, the principal, science teacher, and gym teacher in particular appear in near every episode. The gym teacher in particular is a fantastic and highly memorable character! I think it would be worth your time to check out!!

I think this is the first episode C.H. Greenblatt directed in SpongeBob and he later went to create his own show on Cartoon Network: Chowder. Chowder is the main character who is an understudy of a chef and focuses on cooking weird and wacky dishes with the cartoon having a wacky artsyle and funny writing. I suggest watching the first episode if you want to see what’s it about, i can sort of see it as related to teaching since it’s sort of the main dynamic but i also think there are a couple of cooking school type episodes.

Also I think Plankton's therapist outfit AT 17:19 reminds me of Robin Williams (R.I.P😢😢) from Good Will Hunting. His performance in that movie blew me away and he absolutely deserved that Oscar. And the scene with the nice Krabby Patty with the glowing finger reminded me of E.T when he healed Elliots finger. Ouch. Ouch.

I love how the crew has used SpongeBob’s love the crusty crab to basically show the standards, Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob have Basically SpongeBob think Mr. Crab is going to far you know he’s done something bad if Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob home or any times where he thinks SpongeBob’s devotion has gone too far you know it’s gone too far

Reminded me of the time i had to stay up for 5 days straight because the are i live in got a burglar/home breaker so often the entire village get into high alert and i am the only one that can operate a CCTV and fixes it if it fail, everything is fine (minor headache here and there) until 3rd day, 4th day is when i started having hallucinations, 5th is when i finally had to stop, constant headache, hallucinations and dozing off. So yeah get some sleep people it's not fun

Yeah I didn't really stop thinking how dark Plankton's plan was in this. He drove SpongeBob to exhaustion, causing him to become afraid of something he loves, then he pretended to be a psychiatrist (Which I'm pretty sure is a crime), and then he tried to take advantage of SpongeBob's broken mental state, yikes!

There Have been instances where the labor departments or health department have shown up in some way. Whether in person or in letter. Also that makes sense why he would see Krabby Patties everywhere, looking at them 24 hours times 43 days. And that episode was called Friend Or Foe.

True the episode is a lot like Graveyard Shift but a few differences in this one is it’s more detailed showing the negative impact of the situation and Mr Krabs doesn’t go home he actually stays.

This episode has a lot of serious flaws when it comes to labour laws violation. Fair enough, if a restaurant or diner has 24 hours with shifts, then it's ok. But here, Mr Krabs is making his own staff work 24 hours straight with no breaks or end shift with new staff, which is a serious labour law violation. 43 days nonstop work is not only a violation of the law, but it could have a major health impact.

22:55 yeah but we don't see Spongebob working for 23 straight hours in later episodes. I like to imagine he got traumatized again, and Mr. Krabs lowered the shift to 22 hours. Then SB gets traumatized again, and MK lowers it to 21. Then 20, 19, and so on until reaching regular work hours again 😂

SpongeBob just loves his job

There is a SpongeBob episode called Nasty Patty which does show that there is a health inspector in SpongeBob.

Everyone says that seasons 1 through 3 are the best. Though i believe that, also think that there is some charm to season 4. This is the first episode of the season, so you can still see they still had a fresh spongebob ideas in the tank, but once you reach the end of season 4, you start to see the decline. Mr. Krabs character decline kinda starts here though...in my opinion. But anyways glad you liked the episode. Great reaction as always.

From what it seems, Graveyard Shift uses it for a night story, while this uses it for multiple days. This is the first of S4, though some go to say its early episodes are still decent. Krusty Towers in particular.

This is nothing! I wont spoil it, but if you want to see mr krabs most greedy moments, i highly recommend “Born Again Krabs”. It’s a season 3 episode too. It’s one of my favourite episodes

You might appreciate season 3 episode Born Again Krabs, in which his cheapness almost kills him and sends him to Davy Jones Locker. It’s one of the few times he (seemingly) shows regret at his miserliness, and he gets a (small) comeuppance at exploiting Spongebob.

You Know Who Else Has A Fear Of A Kraby Patty?!

Plankton is always trying to not just steal the krabby party formula but to also take over the world. But that scene where krabs crushes him like a spider shows just how easily he can be stopped

In one episode of Everybody Hates Chris, Chris had to see the guidance counselor (played by Chris Rock) and in one scene, they humorously did "the first word that comes into mind" session.

This is probably the most interesting episode of the show since it's the first one of the post movie era, but it does kinda feel like a pre movie one. As far as I know it was actually a throwaway of season 3 so we can assume parts of it were produced earlier during the pre movie era that's why it feels so much of a mix of pre and post movie spongebob to me. The animation is hella expressive but the vibe and humor really feels like the "golden age" of the show. It's also one of the last episodes where a lot the old writers were involved before they left as season 4 went on, which adds to that feeling of this episode being kind of a blend of old and new Spongebob.

I don't believe anyone when they say SpongeBob gets bad at Season 4. Because this is still just as funny as 1-3.

The first time I’ve seen a reference to this episode was I think an advertisement for the home media release? I think there was a commercial that just showed SpongeBob freaking out about the patties, but anyway, I thought the image of the SpongeBob, a bunch of patties and plankton disguise so I could believe this was a plankton plot to get the formula

A lot of people attribute Spongebob dropping in quality to most of the original crew members, most notably Stephen Hillenburg, leaving after the first movie aired in 2004. Hillenburg wanted to end the show there, but Nick saw the show as being too profitable to let go.
