In this video from Pt.2 of "The Chord Book" series we investigate the basic triads on the top four strings in Db Major using only the I chord (Db) and the VII chord (C Diminished) and use a formula by which we move the top voice of a chord, then the middle two voices, then the lowest voice to find the common and not so common voicings starting with a familiar root, third, fifth root voicing.
We can then harmonise all the notes of the scale with these two chords and find resonant voicings that sometimes get overlooked which are very musical that many times are found in other sorts of writing besides the Guitar. Voice leading is stressed along with the possibilities of melodic motion in all voices of a chord for Solo and Group work. This is the first of a series of videos based on Triads.
"The Chord Book" is an extended series of video demonstrations in two distinct parts that will help one master chord types on the Guitar far past the basic inversions of seventh chords, develop the ear, uncover a range of new chord spacings and a wide range of voicings with many unique voice leading possibilities, and develop technical control of the Guitar for writing and performance. Jazz, Fusion, and Classical players will find this useful and the applications to Solo Guitar, Composition, and Group Performance are limitless.
"The Chord Book" represents a unique new systematic study and not a random unorganised series of voicing examples based on stock patterns. Learn and master Guitar chords in a logical, organised, and musical way.
