Funnily enough there's actually a theory that the real 110 Montauk is the rumors surrounding 110 Montauk as well as things like this file. There is even a story where the d classes are just reading no. 7 scary stories and that's the procedure
I actually really like that theory and how the happy orange goo was born. But to protect everyone they *need* for this procedure to sound as horrifying as possible to keep creating fear
I don't like the theory because it just takes away from the base message of the original story that the Foundation was willing to go any and all lengths to save humanity. This one just feels like as SCP got popular, the newer folks didn't like the more brutal stuff and so turned it into PG. I mean I know there is no canon and people can believe whatever they want so I just simply disagree with the new "retcon", so to speak.
It's not the ACTION itself that helps keep the Scarlet King at bay, it's the belief and horror at what is "happening," to a child that keeps him at bay. Like, if you saw a nice looking field, and it had a "CAUTION: MINEFIELD," sign, you won't go in. Even if there were no mines, it does the job. Honestly, I find it even more horrifying that we don't know what is really happening.
In reply to the intro: The wiki actually has a list of K-Class scenarios, with the most common ones being "Earth is destroyed" (XK-Class end of the world event) or "the universe is altered in some drastic way" (CK-Class reality restructuring event).
And then the worst of all, ZK. If I recall correctly, a ZK-Class scenario means there's no world left to be destroyed because reality itself has collapsed and blinked out.

In regard to 999 being the seventh child, technically speaking the original files for both this and 999 does not include this part as it originate from a separate Tales if I remembered correctly. Remember, what is 100% canon are the things written in the SCP file itself. Extra materials and additions outside it are to be considered non-canon (unless you subscribed to that lore personally). The 999 video you watched before didn't do their diligent and mention it, kind of forcing you to assume the Scarlet King bit is all intended from the original 999 file.
@@collinfulling3223 Same. I get the appeal and appreciate the contrast it bring, but I feel that canon really hurt the depictions of the original files. Procedure 110-Montauk depict the grimdark reality of the SCP universe, of people doing horrific acts for "the greater good" despite outright hating what they are forced to do. Then this canon jump in and say "Sike! It was just a prank, bro! We didn't do anything evil, and the apocalypse monster was an orange Kirby all along!" And for 999, it was a friendly blob monster that eat skittles. But no, it need more than that because no one like a simple premise. So now it is the Star Child, the Chosen One, the Destined Hero born of true Evil that will one day overthrow it's father and restore balance to the multiverse. It have vast power, but as it is still a baby, it need time to grow. Seriously, the first time I read this I thought they are making 999 into actual Kirby.
@@ShinigamiSamaH i mean, scp 231 is not the worst thing the foundation did, so the part of the foundation being able to do anything for the greater good remains, you are only sacrificing scp 231 to make scp 999 more interesting. In my opinion thats a good thing, i never liked scp 231. Most brides died in boring ways, and its just to simple. Other scp are equali dark, but much more complex and original.
@@ShinigamiSamaH doesn't part of the "999 is the 7th child" story include that 110-montauk was still instituted for a time prior to tge Foundation discovering/researching prophecies and texts, followed by contemplations and arguments about them, before the procedure was ended and his birth permitted?
If you're wondering, in this old cannon (should you choose to believe it) procedure 110-Montauk is said to be abuse and brutal rape of a young girl Why you may ask? The physical and mental torture of this act feeds the King, thus staving him off, temporarily Halting the birth of whatever demon is inside that poor girls womb. Again, this is up to interpretation and personal choice on whether or not you believe this to be true. There is a fan tail called "Fear alone" that details that 110 Montauk isn't actually brutal and violent rape, but in reality, is just a D class reading a bed time story to the young girl, and it's played up to be some ungodly unspeakable act of torture for the sake of fear, this fear, this psychological energy of fear keeps the king satiated. Because he and his followers believe something bad is happening, but in reality it's completely harmless. The Scarlet King is a being who feeds off of the pain suffering of others, and if people believe this girl is suffering unimaginable horrors, the king feeds off the fear of those people.
Videos like this are why, for all I appreciate the context that other creators like the Exploring Series provide, I still rate the Volgun as my favorite SCP content creator: no one on YT matches the immersion that his audio adaptations achieve.
Since you've watched this, the next thing in order should be Exploring Series vid on the Scarlet King, as he is among the most recurring deity characters in the universe. There is a lot of evidence pointing to the Daevites worshiping the Scarlet King, which would explain a fair bit about their civilization, and make the early Sarkites the "good guys".
This scp is definitely interesting, especially with how cruel the foundation must be. I burst out laughing when you switched on that red light, great video man!
My theory for the poem and maniacal laught is due to the fact that the closer to the truth of the scarlet king the closer to being able to enter reality he becomes. The explanation for this is in i believe another scarlet king video
Regarding The Exploring Series, one of my favorites from him is his video on Antimemetics. One of the most fascinating things to think about in the SCP universe imo.

It is what It is , the scarlet king descending to our realm will mean that every living human will experience something worse than 110-montauk ... it is cruel, it is evil, but it is necessary, a human living a hell to put us all in paradise seems evil when you hear it, and it is evil... But it is what the foundation do, and what it should do....

Thats the beauty of and horror of the Montoc it is either an absolute shit show of horrific things done to a young girl to keep her from giving birth OR it just a D-class reading bed time stories to her what matters most is that as far as the MAJORITY knows it is something to horrific to be spoken of being done to a little girl to ensure all pf humanities survival
Oh wow, i actually forgot which one this was till the first verse hit. This is one of the SCP that hit really hard and, unsurprisingly, spawned a lot of tales and other stuff. I know you make reactions according to the discord, but the exploring series video on the Scarlet King is very great, goes more into some (possible) background and what the community has done with this SCP since it came out. And surprisingly, some of that stuff is actually wholesome. Yeah, crazy, I know. So, well, if you find an open spot, i highly recommend it.
As far as I remember the thing that is containing this Scp is actually the idea of the procedure being so brutal that is preventing the birth of the baby and the reason the staff have their memories wiped is so no one finds out that they never actually harm the woman. It's only the idea of it that's needed not the actual harm.
That interpretation of procedure 110 Montauk comes from the SCP tale called 'Fear Alone'. It makes sense and is such a cool interpretation of it. The Exploring Series video actually mentions that tale.

SCP Orientation can be somewhat be similar to the volgun, but only make video from numerical order and thus only have made currently the scp-between 1 and 800
I have the opinion that the first series have the mystery element that the recent series lack. Older series are just self contained stories where the mystery is part of the atmosphere. This SCP is a great example of this with the Montauk procedure. New SCPs are more tales that try to tell everything and connect with another tales this makes little space for the unknown.
Keep in mind that as with the deer god, the ritual itself is more important than it's actual content. 110 isn't what you think it is but it's important that you think it is, what you think it is. Otherwise, it'll be the end.
The procedure mentioned is horrendous. Think 40k Inquisition Witch Hunter interrogation or Black Templar Interrogator Chaplain brutality. Terrible for everyone involved and tragedy for everyone.
Seeing this video a year late but if you haven't watched it Old Man, you need to at least watch Volgun's SCP-001 The Scarlet King video. Not sure you'd take the time to react to it though, it's an hour long.
