I think it's because nurses are less paid than them and yet keep doing their jobs without asking for his help all the time. He also hate more experienced doctors like Kelso because they become smug and superior.
Also probably doesn't help many Doctors at the hospital were once his interns who paged him over obvious problems like so, he likes working with people who can get the job done without issue.
@Dean Jacobs and healthcare especially. The adage "it is better to beg forgiveness than to ask permission" does not work when peoples lives are on the line. (Sometimes. Exceptions do exist. Which is why early interns and new nurses live nervously.)

I know it's presented as intern stupidity, but it always rankles me when people tell other people to do something and aren't specific about what they want, communication is important and miscommunication kills.

Seriously though, an attending can't be upset they've been paged... they are WORKING and on call, the residents/interns are learners and the idea is that the attending provides adequate supervision. This kind of behavior results in residents being afraid to take problems to the attending and they may not tell them critical information or ask important management questions out of fear.
@macdom24.....you DO realize that this show is a comedy, as well as fictional, right? what you say might apply to real-life doctors and hospital staff, but we're not watching real-life here. but, even if you leave out those factors, they paged him only to end up asking a rather idiotic question that even a non-medical professional with any shred of common sense would know the answer to.
