@@ProjectFarm ... Been seeing a number of processes touted in the comments and replies. My own practice is to add a quart of cheap ATF to the crankcase a day or two before the oil change. Use the vehicle as usual, allowing The fluid in oil to wash the inside of the engine. Next day or so, change oil and filter. I like to use Valvoline Racing oil, normally, but in truth, most oils are perfectly fine for use in our older vehicles.

@@erikkeever3504 its an 86-88 with that front end and a 2.9. The 2.9 had hydraulic lifters but the previous 2.8 was a solid lifter motor.

I have a question for you. I know you maybe biased towards those products. I currently own an 05 Civic EX with VVT (Variable Valve Timing). I've purchased the "Low Viscosity forumula" of Lucas as it's meant for VVT engine. My engine has a ticking sound & burns oil. I've been told to use "Rislone Engine Oil Treat (yellow bottle) or the Rislone Compression Repair with Ring Seal." I mainly want to tackle the oil consumption as the noise I can live with by cranking the music up. If I can hit both than that's even better. My thing is, do you have experience with these products? If so, any thoughts on them? I've tried Lucas oil stablizer in the past & it seemed to have helped maybe an extra 1k miles before losing oil between changes. I usually do 5k oil changes. I also use HM oil 5w-20 & am against going higher as I'd like to stay with the manufactor reccomends. Maybe I'll try 5w-30, but dont se myself going high than that if need be. I know I said alot, but I'd like your opinion, thanks!

Same here, I don’t change my oil without a bottle of Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer to substitute a quart of oil, now I’m probably gonna use seafoam regularly in my crankcase and fuel tank and prob throttle body occasionally

@@dbzownz12345 When using a multi viscosity motor oil, you need not be concerned that your are using 5w-30, or even 5w-40, because the higher number will protect aginst extreme heat. The lower number will lubricate at colder temps. My 67 Buick Riviera calls for 10w-30, but I can run 10w-40 with no issues. I hope that helps.

@@CHEECHMUN 10w-40 is a good middle -of-the-road oil, my dad used it in all of his vehicles and it's all he ever used, I use it in all of mine too. it's kinda hard to find in certain brands though.

@@ScoredPiston , love the FilterMAG product line. Project Farm can also see other videos online showing how they work (opened up filters). I am installing filters for my power steering, transmission and oil bypass and all will have FilterMAG's on them (sub micron contaminants)

You can pull the magnets out of an old hard drive too - they are pretty powerful!

@@davidpeters8813 I'm not aware of if,or what kind, of magnets are in a typical hard drive , but my guess is the it would have a small surface area. Also, people seem to be emphasizing the power of the magnets. I have to caution that just a moderate size/strength magnet is all that is necessary. Especially one that has some surface area such the flat round magnets 3-6 inches in diameter that come on the back of stereo speakers. Using strong magnets such as rare earth magnets could lead to cracking your oil pan/fuel tank if you have trouble pulling it free from the tank or you let it go and it makes harsh contact with the tank. The magnet just needs to be strong enough to hold itself in place and capture small metal shavings and/or rust particles through the floor of a thin walled oil pan or fuel tank.

@@UnknownUzer I'm not sure what kind of magnets they are, but they're about 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" long. They have good holding power, so it should work well to attract metal filings in the pan.

I have added seafoam to the gas at oil change for years. Recently I added some to the oil and waited 100 miles. Then changed oil, the engine had about 150,000 miles and the restored power was very noticeable

@@toxeia Should work to help resolve the issue if lubrication is the problem. The lucas replacing a quart of oil + seafoam at the recommended amount for the oil capacity will clear things up over a week or 2 of daily driving. I found doing that and a single tank gas treatment each oil change keeps the valve train noise to a minimum if not helped restore engine power and lubrication. As less garbage is floating around in the fuel system and the oil.

What compartment can I put the seafoam in other than the fuel tank? I'm new to these. Any advice? Thanks.

Today I've tried Engine Restore (Thanks to him) and after 40km i Think and half an hour of cooling down and restarting it to drive back home. the engine felt like 18000km younger (125cc bike with 1st piston and 26000km) 10,6bar instead of 12,5bar (+-0,5bar) i hope i get it to 12bar and if im lucky and ive got a good one i may get it back to 12,5 or 13 bar :D

It's amazing how technology has advanced... 20-30 years ago, you'd need a crew to get these shots. Now, a person can do it all on their own with the right tools.

Doesn't Scotty recommend against using seafoam as it was designed for 2 stroke engines it doesn't have any of the modern cleaning additives

@@watchinyoutube8919 He doesn't like using it for the same purposes it was used here because the sludge it broke up could get into the oil holes, clog them up and lock up the engine before you know it. The Car Wizard feels the same exact way. However, there are people who get good results with it like this and since it's just a farm truck I'm sure it was well worth the try. He got the opposite results, freeing up his oil flow. Scotty also likes another product more than seafoam but I forgot what it is. It is sold as a two pack with oil and fuel additives, and they don't as much break up the sludge as they slowly break down (melt) the carbon which is much less dangerous. Also, I noticed a new Lucas Oil Stabilizer product that isn't so thick and is for more modern OHC engines at the store the other day and I'm about to get get me some and try it.

Yes greatly appreciate the video's and recommendations when it comes to our vehicles. Women get taken to the cleaners more then you know by very dishonest mechanics....saying things need to be replaced when they don't,and often I have had things disconnected so I can bring it back and have them yet again tell I need something usually expensive replaced when I don't. I've only ever driven a Ford Truck and I have even had a Ford mechanic at the dealership cut vacuum lines one time....disconnected my speedometer cable another time,took out a fuse another time.....and it's so frustrating to go through. So my dad and six brothers started teaching me things about the vehicles I drove and drive now and they have been my mechanics for decades. So now I know much more and I help them in making the repairs as well. My dad has since passed on and my brothers and a nephew who was trained by them all helps me now. My husband doesn't know a lot about the inner workings of an engine. So at least we have people we can trust. But believe me ......there are many unscrupulous mechanics out there who do over charge women and especially elder women too and again have parts replaced that don't need to be and disconnect things. So guys if you have a wife or sister or daughter or niece or aunt or grandmother....look out for them when they have car issues and make sure they aren't being railroaded by greedy mechanics if you can't fix the issue for them then find an honest mechanic to help them out. I absolutely love this channel I have watched every video over the past years and i make notes and love all the ingenious tests that you do to really test a product to its full potential and capacity or show many times that we're paying ridiculous prices just for the name of the product rather then for its quality. Dude, I bought a rusted out old Toyota Corolla with almost 400k miles that was *HEAVILY* abused its entire life... It had a freaking shop rag crammed into the crankcase where the cap should have been, oil all over the motor, the worst lifter noise I've ever heard, and the car was in about as bad of condition as it could ever get before sending to a crusher. Immediately after Seafoam, all the noise and running rough stopped. I did all the standard routine maintenance and ran Seafoam for 300 miles before each oil change, with oil changes every 1,800 miles. I drove the wheels off that thing for nearly 2 years, including driving it 940 miles from MN to OK, and then sold it to a friend, who drove it for another 2 years. That car would have been toast within a couple hundred miles at best without Seafoam

The only way I can think that you did that is with a GoPro on a very tightly controlled drone with a highly skilled 'pilot' to boot. Loved the video, my winter driver, a 92 Dodge Caravan (3.3 L) is exhibiting similar engine problems ... and will now try to adress them following these procedures. Great work on this video.

corey Babcock sonfirst decide if you wanna do the crank case treatment, fuel, or air intake or all 3 like the video. But just follow exactly as the video says and if your van has cats make sure to unbolt them or they might get clogged up

Was that motor maintained properly before the treatment or did it develop the sticky lifters from extended oil change intervals?

No. Do not use Slick 50 on any engine you care about. The teflon particles in Slick 50 do not belong inside an engine, they have plugged oil lines, they plug the filter and open the bypass valve letting everything through. Even Dupont said don't use it, they were sued by Slick 50 over that.

I was getting no oil to the valves on my 1970 LTD. I put in a quart of Mystery Oil and ran the thing for years more, adding MMO every oil change. I also found that Mystik oil reduced blow-by on several vehicles. A friend with a B.S. in auto mechanics who turned me on to Mystik oil now only uses Rotella T in all his vehicles. Probably good stuff.

So far I've had great results with Lucas Complete Engine Treatment in the oil, along with some of Lucas High Mileage additive. Doesn't seem to thicken the oil as much, but seemed to help around the same effect as Seafoam in my 2001 Ford Focus, with the Zetec engine. Top end didn't sound quite as bad as the Ranger, but was still excessively loud. Seafoam helped that, and seemed further helped by the 2 Lucas additives I mentioned. I use a little of all 3 in my '97 Camry 2.2. Both have around 220k miles and still going! I am curious how to help my father's 2012 Kia Forte. It sounds like it has a slight knock, most noticeable at or just above idle. Still pretty quiet and no lights or anything, I've added small amounts or Lucas HD oil stabilizer, and small amounds of Lucas Pure synthetic oil stabilizer (which Pure synthetic worked well in the tranny of my cars, and even in the power steering of my cars, in small amounts) but I'm not sure how raising the oil pressure with HD stabilizer will do with the Kia I'm sure having VVT and the like. What do you guys recommend to quiet down and/or reduce the onset of further damage? Kia's got about 180k miles, and we are keeping up with oil changes (not liking the fact of the sealed tranny, wish I could check that easily) so what else can we do?

I use engine restore in the oil on our mowers and every now and then our blowers the guy I work with fail at mixing 2 cycle or idling equipment down so it doesn't wash the cylinder and wear it faster stuffs impress with both ran once in awhile

@@toxictophat711 The Biggest mistake that most people make, is running the idle too low. I usually mix my 2cycle fuel at least 50:1. I would rather have it smoke a little more, and LAST A LOT LONGER. I buy a lot of equipment from my local scrap yard. Usually all that's wrong is fuel lines and carb cleaning. This makes for a nice profit. After I reassemble everything, I run seafoam in it. You can tell when it gets clean from the RPM .

I’m curious do you live in a cold climate? I live in NW Ontario and we frequently get to -40F in winter. My transmission is also perpetually leaking and want to try Lucas but I worry it will be to thick in winter.
