Well explained step by step video. I already ordered mine. It looks neat. For whatever reason, I do't know why the caulking gets dirt stuck. My toilet looks awful with the glue caulking, plus my hubby is not good at it, and neither am I. But we'll see what the tape does. Yours looks awesome! Thanks
Yes you absolutely do NEED to caulk a toilet. Required by code and it's not primarily for water seal as you imagine. It's to lock in the toilet and prevent rocking which breaks the wax seal. Caulk tape does not do the job. At this point you should take up the toilet, clean it, apply a new wax ring, and caulk with real caulk before anyone sits on it. That's basic plumbing.
I agree. Additionally, the tape does not seal well enough----moisture gets behind it and mould begins to grow / show---- the tape slows evaporation of trapped moisture... PIA to clean/redo.
@@maplecanuck6454 exactly what I was thinking, there are tiny gaps around the seals, I do love the idea of caulk tape though since I stuggle badly with silicon jobs and never get it right but it looks like the hard way is still the best!
