Sealing a toilet with Caulk Tape 

Thank you. I’d recently used caulk tape around the toilet. I didn’t know about stretching it and had trouble around the curves. Now I know! 👍🏻

Well explained step by step video. I already ordered mine. It looks neat. For whatever reason, I do't know why the caulking gets dirt stuck. My toilet looks awful with the glue caulking, plus my hubby is not good at it, and neither am I. But we'll see what the tape does. Yours looks awesome! Thanks

Yes you absolutely do NEED to caulk a toilet. Required by code and it's not primarily for water seal as you imagine. It's to lock in the toilet and prevent rocking which breaks the wax seal. Caulk tape does not do the job. At this point you should take up the toilet, clean it, apply a new wax ring, and caulk with real caulk before anyone sits on it. That's basic plumbing.
