Can not say JADEN IVEY took a step back due to MONTY WILLIAM bad coaching, and this is the 2nd Coach IVEY had in his professional career and both coaches wanted different things out of IVEY. These pistons need to figure out the CADE issues, he not healthy and He dominate the ball to much so that other are not involved in the offense. when all offense is ran thru cade everyone else skill set decreases. Most of this is coaching and coaching system, but no player skill level will increase if this is the same way he plays next season

Ivey is the best example of why you can’t just chase ceiling in the draft. Shooting, defense and decision making were his biggest red flags in college, and what do you know? those are the very same reasons the fit with Cade hasn’t worked out. They’ll get less for trading him now than if they had dealt that 5th overall pick.

My fear with next season is if we bring everyone back this will be the same exact result. IF we fire Monty which is what I REALLY want then It'd be easier to digest but if we don't fire Monty then I feel like this will be a huge slap in the face of the fans. It all depends on the "changes" this org decides to make. I would love to keep Ivey but I just don't see him fitting next to Cade if Cade is the starting PG of this team.

Fontecchio was great for us this year. However, it comes with a big but. It is only a 16 game sample size with no one prepping for him as he was a backup in Utah. He certainly belongs in the league, and he is just what we needed next to Cade in this offense, BUT we need to see A LOT more to know what impact he will have.
@elblouses128
@elblouses128 Месяц назад
Objectively, no. He didn’t take a step back. His scoring was slightly more efficient. His defense was a little better, overall. But he certainly had a rough PASB. He was inconsistent, like last year. Pretty normal development for a player like him (e.g DeAron Fox, Anfernee Simons, Colin Sexton).
@Truthtella
@Truthtella Месяц назад
This is my problem with the assessment of Ivey. How did anyone expect Ivey to take a step forward in the Pistons' trash environment? Everyone is destroying Ivey in only his 2nd year but made every excuse under the sun for Cade's lack of second year growth. There is zero consistency in these season grades. If it were only Ivey that took a step back there would be a point to this but Duren also took a considerable step back this season also. There were clear points in the season where Ausar looked like complete garbage water because of coaching. This should be highlighted in all these assessments. From the coaching to the front office this was literally the worst run organization in the league. To expect a player to thrive or even just to grow in this environment is foolish thinking. Coach didn't even know how to use his players until the season was all but over. Monty couldn't even grasp the concept of staggering. Monty is literally the worst coach in terms of play calling and development in the league right now but players are suppose to improve. What a joke. So now because of incompetence fans are going to miss out on what could have been something very special. These reviews only serve how idiotic and sad this season was and it's horrid.

Ivey didn't take a step back. Ivey jump on a bus and drove 1 year back in the wrong direction. With that being said, I would keep Ivey around but he would be a banch player. 6th man. The Pistons need to find a starting SG. Reduce Ivey's role. Continue to let Ivey grow and learn and outperform his role as a bench guy.
@cordelldemattei5446
@cordelldemattei5446 Месяц назад
Did Ivey have a good season? Clearly, no. Can he play next to Cade? Not if they run the offense the way they did this season. The only plays. Used was Cade dribble to the middle and either take it himself or kick it to a shooter and Cade Duren pick and roll. If this is the only offense Ivey will never work well in it. It clogs the middle which takes away his biggest strengths, driving and slashing. Ivey is also the definition of a rhythm guy. You see him shoot pretty well when he gets the ball when expected or when he decides, but on a random kick out, not so well. He also showed great improvement his first year with a role and regular usage, neither of which he had standing at the three point line this year. There were some flashes of him and Cade playing well together: I saw some designed kick outs where Ivey got an expected pass work well and once an odd two man weave on the side with Cade and Ivey that put the defenders way off balance for an easy score. So, yes, Ivey had a bad year and has work to do, but I see ways that he and Cade could be a great back court. But if they are going to use him as just another cog in a Cade only offense they should get what they can for him in a pure shooter because he will ever succeed in that role (and Indont think the Pistons will have much success other than a potential play in, low seed).

@@scottwickett1273 you are too high on Cade being the savior of this franchise. I think playing the scheme Monty runs with Cade has a ceiling that isn’t really that high, a mid tier playoff. Jaden Ivey needs to improve on his shooting consistency and reduce his turnovers but of beside Cade he has shown to be the most capable of the other three in the core four of being able to shoot. I think I am more concerned about the fit of Ausar and Duren playing on the floor together than Cade and Ivey. I don’t see a way to start two non shooters. I don’t think Duren will likely become a shooter and Ausar has a long way to go to be a respectable shooter.
@scottwickett1273

Ivey can't shoot either, and he's a shitty defender instead of an awesome one like Ausar.
@Bogamonster
@Bogamonster Месяц назад
@@scottwickett1273 Ivey does need to improve both on defense and in shooting both which I think he can fix. He shot 32% from 3 point range on the season which is not good enough but fixable and can probably get to 35% with time. He improved on defense a little bit this year and can probably get better. Moving on to Ausar his upside is great and his defense is great but his shooting was horrible. It may be possible for him to fix his shooting but he is starting from 18% from 3 point range on the season and I don’t know many players that start that low and get to 35% plus over time. Which then leads me to think what kind of player does he compared to. The best case scenario I think of is he moves to PF and becomes a Blake Griffin or Aaron Gordon type. But more likely he becomes a Tony Allen or Thabo Sefolosha like player that good but not great. The worst case scenario is he doesn’t develop offensively enough and we have another non shooting wing like Stanley Johnson or Sekou Doumbouya. I like Ausar but I am not sold on him developing in a good shooter.
