Another great video Capt. You have the best small boat video on you tube for sure... I love your tidy installations and that you don’t take no for an answer. Looking towards your next adventure. You are a great teacher...thank you for sharing my friend
Hi OOTR, nice set-up! It looks like the important functions work well; the boat stays right on the GPS course. My first autopilot-interface (late 1980's?) was with a Ross LORAN receiver and NAVICO autopilot. (The Ross was great; the NAVICO was horrible). Because of delays in signal interpretation the course was a constant 'snake' pattern, but it eventually got us there! Thank you for all the helpful information!
Yes Andrew since 1980 technology has advanced so much so in the future if you get an autopilot I'm sure you can get something better than the old technology and thank you for watching captain
Hey Cap, I don’t know if I would ever buy Raymarine again. They don’t seem to be much help. Either way, great job figuring it all out. That is going to be awesome for your long trips. It will take a lot of stress away and allow you to really enjoy those Hoffman Cay trips!!
Yes Michael especially Hoffman came farther trips what's your over 6 hours sometimes it's traveling that's going to make it a breeze and thank you for your great comment
Thanks for watching and if you get a boat like mine make sure it's not crooked like mine these boats do come with factory defects. Navigate safe captain and thanks for watching
Thank you for the diligence in putting these videos together. Very informative! In my case, I have an existing Garmin NMEA 2000 backbone with several Garmin devices connected to the network. I’m considering the idea of using SeaTalkng DeviceNet adapter cables to connect the Raymarine autopilot devices directly into the existing NMEA 2000 network (i.e. bypassing the proprietary SeaTalkng backbone). If I were to use the approach outlined in the video, I believe I would have a termination problem - I would essentially have two separate NMEA 2000 backbones, both terminated and connected together by a spur cable. I’m suspecting that configuration would not work. Alternatively, I think I would need to link the two network backbones together in such a way that I end up with a single contiguous backbone with a single terminator at each end. I would welcome any thoughts you have on this ... I’m guessing I will need to bypass Raymarine support and just call Garmin! :-) Cheers.
It appears you have a natural ability to speak succinctly, most of us don’t. Makes for great instructional videos. When your boat is finally complete please move more into fishing and tackle. I think you will need to start hunting bigger fish, trigger fish will only take your channel so far. Just my opinion. Great video!
You're 100% right Mike I have never put any effort on learning how to fish big fish and you're right I need to start doing something like that thank you for being honest and for trying to help me also. Navigate safe captain
I saw your previus video, about Autopailot DIY. Why you decided for 2 different brands? Why not a Garmins autopilot, as this way you could take the advantage of all Garmins feautures? Once again tks for sharing
I like how easy it was to install the Raymarine and also the price was very affordable and it is a good product but I understand your question, thanks Cap.
Another great video Cap. Are you going to add radar or sirus xm weather at some point?I know the Garmin will support both of them. Looking for another great trip to Bimini. Thanks for taking us along on video. Fair winds Cap.
Nice work!! That is a great feature. Is it possible to control the throttle? If so I wonder if you added radar if it would be able to go around storms or avoid obstacles. Now you can plot your trip. Sit back and just look out for other boats/obstacles.
I'm bigger boats with more sophisticated equipment you could but with the system you won't be able to control the speed probably have to get another type of equipment to do that but that would be a great idea to and yes now it's going to be a lot easier to navigate far distances. Thanks for your comment and also for watching captain
Well u can say what u want but Raymarine seems to have been very consistent through this cruise control process...they didnt help u again. Thankfully Garmin knew the deal! See I'm a brat and both times I wiuldnt have been able to refrain myself, Both times I would have called back to the person I was talking to that gave me the WRONG information amd.set them straight. 😁 That was great drone footage Ps we r still waiting on the boat 🤨
Hi Captain, I have a question hoping you would answer. I haven’t seen any videos featuring only the Garmin 942 alone. Are you happy with it? Did it connect to your Yamaha 200 easily, or do you only receive data to the Yamaha command link gauge installed? Also, did you go with a transom mount transducer or through hull? Are the Bahamas charts you use preloaded and if so, how far East are they accurate? As far as Bimini? Or did you purchase an additional blue chart card? aMaybe you could make a video one day demonstrating that. Anyways, thank you for all the hard work and production you put in your videos, they are amazingly good. I just bought a Delta anchor through your amazon link too.
The Garmin chartplotter is not connected to the engine the engine has its own computer and it came with maps that I can look at almost all the islands at the Bahamas it came integrated and it with no card I got a lot of information out of it but I'm sure if you buy a car to get more details but I do not need them so far I like it and I have a through hull transducer I also placed the link in the description below the exact unit I'm using
Out On The Reef, Yes I saw. It is a very nice unit. Did you drill through the hull of the boat yourself? Or was it factory/dealer installed? I really like the Garmin, it is easy to operate and has great customer support.
It's been awhile since I did this connection but I think I connected mine to the backbone then to the chartplotter I have the links of the cable on the description below if it helps all the cables
This video shows a STNG spur cable connecting to a NMEA 2K device not a backbone. Raymarine have just released a backbone adapter cable which connects to the STNG backbone (i.e. remove STNG terminator resistor and connect one end of the adapter cable and remove NMEA terminator resistor and connect the other end of the adapter cable). Now you have joined the 2 networks. e.g. A80674 - SeaTalkng backbone cable to DeviceNet (Male) - 400mm
Also i had a question about Amazon affiliates can you sign up for Amazon affiliate when you first start out in RU-vid or do you have to first reach a milestone
You can sign up right away but if you don't make sales by people using your link within a month I believe they will close your account down I believe it's a month so check that out
How do you set it up in the settings on each of them, we connected the wire to both of them but we can’t navigate through the settings of each of them to have it follow the route
What I do is I pinpoint on the chartplotter and then you press follow the route and then accept on your autopilot cap. But remember if you have different brands you can only follow one straight line
@@OutOnTheReef ok so if we set up a route, it wouldnt be able to turn? Also is there a setting or adjustment we have to make? Because we tried to set up a route and the autopilot wouldn’t recognize that the navigation was set up
I was thinking about that the other day but I don't know which paint will be good for it that way sticks to the generator ,do you have any recommendations on paint for Plastics for my saltwater application
I am flattered that you asked me to build your boat like this but this is one of a kind is a Crooked pilothouse ,it's a factory mistake That should have left the factory that's why is one of a kind I don't think you can build another one just like this one. Thanks cap.
I have the items at the Link description below but is farts Parts go you need to go to a pipe specialist to get those pipe fittings That's what I did but they don't have part numbers for that I hope this helps
I agree that's what it sounds like they want to get rid of all the people that call their customer service as soon as possible so they have no work to do
Aloha, we are from Kauai, Hawaii. Been watching your videos. Very helpful. Is it possible to get your email address to ask more detail questions regarding programing. Mahalo, Captain Lani
Raymarine at it’s best again telling you Garmin and your autopilot will not talk to each other.Garmin refutes that and says they will.At least Garmin still has good customer service.Seems to work fine to me.
Garmin has a better customer service , that is my experience, ray marine is more for the professional installers only, but what about us the little people? , that why Garmin is there 👍
