I had a buddy that had a bunch of Glock 19's hidden all over the house with no mags. He carried the full magazine with him.

This would be perfect as a car safe, permanently connect to the car for mounting and electricity.

5 minutes in and I feel like it should just come with a free M&P Shield.

The mounting plate looks to have the center holes similar to a versa mount. The versa mounts are used for hanging PC monitors and TV's. One could mount it to the back of a standing TV to the versa mount holes for a discreet hiding place. The versa mount holes could also be used for a slim mount to essentially give you that standoff effect for hand clearance.

I can literally type anything about guns and have RU-vid recommend this channel every time. Not complaining here. Solid content.

You could mount it on a nightstand or in a closet with it opening downwards that solves the issue of no access to all the opening features but you would probably still need to extend it from the wall

They should of made it to fit bigger guns, most people's home defense firearms are gonna be a little bigger than a carry

its funny, i am always surprised when ever you say you dont think a product isnt for you. I am so used to youtubers just never saying anything like that. The alternative option to your spacer mounting idea is to mount it the lower left side of your desk where your left calf be for the height and hand space but the problem with that is your reaching with your right hand to the left of your body. Your suggestions for improvement on exactly on point!

Everything you mentioned during your review I agree they need a spacer or buttons on the front or both. And they need to make it so you can put a mag in the gun and a spare mag 17 round

Funny, I would’ve never considered mounting it any of the ways you tried. It seems natural (for a righty) to mount under the desk, against the right side, flush with the front. When it opens you have a the room in the world to grip it.

Very cool little safe. Wondering if my stock 226 would fit. The price is a little steep but it does offer a good amount of options to unlock it. At this point personally I’ll check out the $150 range vaults

Yes, it needs button on the drawer so you can have more mounting options. I would have the same problems with the buttons and key hole inaccessible.

So several options for you on your mount you could always mount it slightly lower on your desk considering that u want easy access just put to arms length concealment or not anyone trying to steal something will find it in any of those places you mentioned so just mount it lower to get access. SECONDLY would it be possible to cut into those inserts to make a bit more room to place your modded guns like if its foam might be able to cut some off to fit better.

It does mount on to a vesa mount like a tv as well. that way you could mount it in those hard to reach places and then swing it out.

I mean for the desk you could always just have it open down. That way you can grab the gun straight forward and reach everything easily

What about having the buttons face out and the gun drop downward? This gives full access to the controls of the safe and a relatively natural angle to grab the pistol.

I’m looking at a fast deployment for a night stand gun. But I’m certainly concerned about how rapid a code or biometric scan will be. The clearance issue for right or left is a good point. I was hoping to get a firing grip right from the safe with this design. Otherwise the clam shell style seems suffice. Nice review! 👍

Great review. Dont kno why others complain you knew ahead of time custom guns wont fit. An so what your to put standard gun in so others think all will. I Like how you show what will an wont fit. i can see it now..... "wait a minute"... "time out" .... "don't shoot".... "i'm havin' trouble getting my gun outta' the safe, give me a sec".... yeah, i don't think so! as for all the opening possibilities, seems like they could move the buttons/keylock from the top of the safe over to the face that slides open. that way, you have total access to all the opening features and can position the safe for easy gun removal (assuming you have a gun/spare mag system that will fit in the safe without having to use a drift punch). i have an OEM and it came with 21 round mags. from the manufacturer, doubt it will fit. jonathan, as always great review. thanks for showing all the minuses (and the few pluses). it helps to make an informed decision.

This is something im definitely interested in.. I have guns all over my house not well secured plus i have small and young kids so i always have to be on on point when they get close to the guns. I need about 6 of these boxes! Thanks for this man!

I think this is one of those types made to mount on the side of your bed frame but say you can mount it in a multitude of places. I feel as if most full size (home defense) handguns like a G19 or 1911 or sig will not fit if a comped g19 didnt.

What about a front facing button mounting of it, pistol drops out the bottom; I would prefer that mounting option. It looks as if it could be mounted like that with the light retention friction you illustrated.

If you could mount it on the inside of the door of your credenza, that solves the control access issue. Assuming the door is hinged on the right...

I would like to see a camera involved that sends a picture upon opening or tampering. They send notifications, or you can unlock with your phone. It would be a good security measures.

Thanks for your video. I am very interested in this safe & you are the first person/site that has verified my Glock 19 with magazine inserted will fit. Even the manufacturer web site template was questionable.

I noticed you seem to always want to mount it with drawer opening towards you. Perhaps mount it horizontal under the desktop. ( provides knees don’t hit) buttons towards you. The drawer could slide left giving you the right handed grip. Also don’t limit yourself to right angles. You could you the same idea above, but vary it at a diagonal towards you so that you get an ergonomic grip that suits you. That might be 57-1/2 degrees. (Random number) Granted this isn’t a burglary safe but can have use keeping unauthorized persons from handling the firearms. Definitely more secure than a random drawer, auto console, or under a rag with cookies on top in the pantry. ( no kidding. actually at eye level to the only child that would show up. not like burglars ever steal a snack too)

My Beretta M9 almost fit, had beavertail been a bit shorter haha... but I do like its features. I agree with the cons mentioned from your point of view, so this safe may not be targeted to you. With that said, i hope the make a bigger version that would fit full size guns and custom. My safe is mounted under my desk, and I agree it is difficult to get around the physical entryways, but i'm ok with that since i like the smart options. Last resort i'll use a key.

The best place I can think to mount that beast, is out in the open on the wall or behind a open shelf system in your garage or something... so you have a piece ready as you are leaving or arriving to your home... if you aren't carrying already

Maybe a few washers or spacers would help. Looking for a car safe how will it handle summer heat in a car?

@TacticalToolbox I’m disappointed I have a FN 509 Tactical and it doesn’t fit With my rmr or if I take my rmr off it doesn’t fit my 24 extended mag. Only other way to make it fit is completely take the padding out maybe readjust it fully fit the rmr but no clip.

I reccomend a stock pistol (non suppressor height sights) with night signs and an olight valkyrie light. You'll have a firearm ready to work and you shouldn't have fitment issues. Not having extended mags doesn't change anything for me. I don't even carry extended mags. No real purpose in my opinion. Great info though and if they ever come down in price, I might pick one up.

Cable Management, bro! I like it, but it's very limited. I'm thinking that it could be mounted horizontally under a desk in a center, drawer would slide out under the desk (not towards you), and you would have to grab palm up. I like the idea of the button: have it mounted close to your weak hand, press and grab with strong hand.

Place it at the edge of you desk so the the sliding part that holds the gun stick out past the desk when open

Hay sorry for being a novice Glock owner . Anyway just picked up a old gen 2 g22 and wanted to start personalising it. Like hyve stuff but most mods start at gen 3 n not Many for 40cal. How much gen 3 stuff will work on gen 2? And dose any1 know a site that makes colored metal after market mods like hyve for g22. S

What about buttons facing you and letting drawer drop down and instead of coming out. That seems like it might work okay?

Mount it with the buttons out and have it slide up. If you have enough room so you can just reach in grab and pull straight out. And your hand will already be in the firing position as you bring it up

What if you mount it under the desk and have it open sideways instead of out towards you? Gives you the same clearance problem as the sidewall, but all keys are clearly accessible!

I think its more used for just locking away your pistol so no kids or anyone not authorised to use it can get to it, rather then be a discrete emergency device that you can get to quickly.

does this safe work within the Canadian firearm storage requirements? any Canadians out there help me out this looks like a must have for a novelty loving guy like myself

What are it's external dimensions? It would make better, "design" sense if the insert was more modular. Able to be customized. Reversible even. So you could have more mounting options. I'm curious if a revolver fits and stays hand-off ready.

I think it's a pretty bad ass gun vault, but like you mentioned in the video, with the placement of the keys, buttons, etc...I can't think of a single place to mount it that's accessible. As cool as it is, that makes it unusable to me. They certainly need to rethink that.

well, it's a nice box and the smart features are nice, I'm not sure they are worth $300 tho. its nice that it fits a 19 and compact pistols but will it fit a full size 17 or. p320/p226 with a light mounted? that's kinda a dealbreaker if it doesn't. I can understand that it won't fit comped guns, but it should fit full sized models. and that mounting plate, can it be connected on both sides of the box, or just one side? it wasn't clear in the video. and from the looks of the mounting plate, it looks like it has vesa pattern mounting holes, so maybe you can mount it to a monitor arm or behind a flatscreen tv. and how about mounting it with the drawer facing down, for ejecting the drawer down from behind something, like a shelf. that could offer some interesting mounting options. maybe put a fake book binding on it to cover the biometric/buttons and cut a channel in a shelf so the drawer drops down to a shelf below it to pull the gun out. and that would also orient the gun and present it in such a way to draw it naturally. one downside would be, if all the books got knocked off the shelf, why would the one on the end still be standing... to really conceal it like that would require some serious modification to a wall unit or shelving but the results would kick ass. great video and I would like to see more hidden/secure storage topics in the future.

Can you do a review of the reach gun safe?

I agree with around 90%. The part I don't is the spacing issue, and getting a firing grip. In any 9ther safe, you wouldn't get a firing grip right out of it. If you want it spaced out, go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy some spacers. If they include spacing that is going to drive the price up far more than you getting them yourself. Also that would drive the price up more for those of us that realize you aren't going to get a good firing grip right out if deployment.

Think like an xbox with a vertical dropout... Under desk top few inches down slight top back. Should line properly..
