Fab NZS 3A This is the highly pick-resistant exterior part of the lock. I have never heard about any successful pick before. The lock has 12 spring-loaded sidebar pins with false gates. There are three sidebars, four pins each, the internal side only has one sidebar. It is a very unusual design. (More is on www.google.com/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/lockpicking/comments/fhnrgc/world_first_fab_nzs_3a_picked/)

Not as difficult as you are thinking. Here is what to do to pick them. Make 2 very thin, but big, half ball or half diamond picks. Such that they can be entered into the lock side by side. Once picked to the trap pins, insert the two picks. Set one pick between pins 4-5 and the other between pins 2-3. Without any tension, lift those pins as far as they can go. (Note: The key pins are too big to enter the trap pin chambers, so they cannot be over lifted). Once those pins are held up the cylinder can be rotated in either direction. FYI, I have an old video showing exactly this. Search for chessguy125 M&C 5 pin with trap pins.

I’ve seen you amazing picking skills, so I will definitely check that technique out. Always good to learn something new!
@mercuriall2810

Given the dire consequences of failure, I fully understand that you probably won’t want to try this, but I succeeded in gutting a lock like this by removing the clip & then tightly winding a long piece of waxed dental floss around the gap left by removing the clip repeatedly until I had filled it up flush with the shear line. I had to use a probe whilst winding the dental floss into place to get it to spread in an even layer. Hope that makes sense, it’s awkward to explain clearly. Thanks for yet another great video!
@LockNoob
@LockNoob 3 года назад
Interesting technique! Never thought of that... maybe PTFE tap could work too? 🤔
@mercuriall2810
@mercuriall2810 3 года назад
Lock Noob PTFE tape seems like it could work, too. I got the idea for using dental floss from the way it’s been used to avoid trap pins engaging & preventing picked dimple locks with multiple rows of pins from spitting out pins/jamming after picking. The lock is picked & the core turned just slightly. The keyhole is then filled tightly with dental floss, using a probe to push it in. Once full, it is as if a key is filling the keyhole & the plug can be safely turned. The dental floss is easily removed afterwards. I think I first got the idea from Han Fey.

There's a similar lock in terms of the trap pins by Mila. I picked one up on eBay as a beginner not really knowing much about it, and managed to pick the main pins before it got stuck on the trap pins and I had an awful time just getting it back to centre. In trying to understand what was going on I found this blog which had some cut-away photos of what the trap pins look like: mylockpickingworld.com/category/mila-evolution/ Because the trap pins never actually cross the shear-line if you're using a key, they can have really aggressive spools on them which snag something awful and are a complete nightmare if you're trying to single-pin pick.

The lock was made by "GTV Schließsysteme" based in Velbert, Germany. This key-design was used up until the late 1990s and likely sold to locksmiths with a personal branding on the key (see wiki.koksa.org/GTV-7070 or www.sicher24.de/profilzylinder/gtv-knaufzylinder-30-30-mm.html ). The circlip can be removed quite easily (like on the EVVA cylinders). The GTV company filed for bankcruptcy in July 2020 though.

Interesting design choices, there. Excellent pick protection, but no snap protection. The problem there is that picking is less of a real-world threat! Pickers with your level of skill are few and far between, and not likely to be petty criminals since the time investment in learning to pick to that level is very high. On the other hand snapping the lock to break in requires a pair of mole grips and a screwdriver!

Can have all the pins you want if it has no anti snap then it is just a normal lock Seems most are installed upside down if your video is correct .As you have the key entry to the bottom of your vice. Most if not all are installed with the key entry to the top. If that is the case will the pins drop at all Could it possibly be nearly all the euro locks around are all installed up side down. So give it a go key entry to the top of the vice

Excellent job on those trap pins man! Weird they are so rare, seems like a nightmare to do 2 full rotations on that core to actually open a door. A spinner would prevent those trap pins from coming in to play I guess but most people only get the spinner out after rotating it about 340 degrees.
@LockNoob
@LockNoob 3 года назад
A spinner might work, but in my experience, they also have an equal chance of not getting past the trap pins or falling into the opposite trap pins. Of course that could just be me!

That was incredibly impressive. I wonder, it *looks* like the circlip on the long side is a bit more accessible. Would the cam be removable there, and would it be possible to get segmented followers in to the short side that way, or do you think the risk is still too high?

At my current skill level, I'd never get past that deep cut in pin 3 guarding 4,5,and 6. I'm confused about how trap pins work though. Are they just another row of top pins? When I first saw the lock I just thought it was extreme drill protection. Then I saw they were aligned with the stacks and that there were 2 other pins for drill protection.
@loz11968
@loz11968 3 года назад
The ones I have come across normally have a strong spring and a small pin about the diameter of the head of a pin but taller with a shaft that extends up the inside of the spring ( I guess you could say similar to a tiny lollipop). when the key is in the lock the pins run across the top of the plug pins. With no key the head pushes into the holes the bottom pins sit in and you have to push them back up they become almost extreme anti pick pins hence the large amount of movement I hope that gives you an idea sorry If I haven’t explained it very well.
