Hope you guy's didn't mind the super sonic and super shadow boss fight. Click on the link if you want to watch the cutscenes in better quality: • Sonic Adventure 2 (Dre...
Yeah there was a lot of uncertainty about the future of Sega around this time. So Sonic Team went into SA2 with the idea that this would be the last Sonic game.
seeing a broken weeping man about to have a bullet put through his heart and brain would freak any young child out. i agree. this has one of the darkest and most heartbreaking and horrifying stories of ant e rated game.
4:56 apparently, the original line was something along the lines that Gerald could control his memories, beliefs, and thoughts. This would explain how Shadow came to the conclusion to enact revenge against humanity. It wasn't Shadow that came to that conclusion, it was Gerald that manipulated him into thinking that way
I personally like to believe that this was the finale within the Sonic universe and all the other games that came after were "what if"s, alternate universes or weird dreams Sonic is having :p Think of it, Eggman finally becomes a good guy and is even seen rethinking his life, and everyone goes home as if to live happily ever after. That's a beautiful ending
@Paul bell Its weird how you named all of the good ones. There have been multiple games besides just those 4. Use your brain instead of jumping to conclusions.
Given this game was developed while sega was crashing and burning thanks to the dreamcasts failure to make sega meet ends during the 6th gen - they were literally on the verge of going completely bankrupt, only scraping by to become a third party developer thanks to the chairmen isao okawa who lended nearly a billion dollars in stocks to the company before his death, that very well could’ve been the vision. The whole ending has this aura of finality you can’t deny so it’s definitely possible someone at sonic team decided if this was the last game they put out, it’d be a definitive finale.
I love how Gerald goes from a panicked voice worrying about his sanity, to a calm calculated voice talking about his perfect creation (which also happens to be his method of revenge).
FYI to anyone confused by what Shadow said at 11:06: In the Japanese version, Shadow said "Chaos control ka?!". The context makes it obvious that Shadow is confused that the Biolizard used chaos control at all, not that he's wondering what chaos control is.
The "ka" at the end of the JP sentence indicates that it's a question. So the most literal translation is just "Chaos Control?!". Tbh I'm not sure why the translators wouldn't use something like "It's using Chaos Control?!", which is what all the context of the scene is pointing at.
@@bakingsoda6060I know I’m 5 years late to this discussion, but having watched this again, I still find this translation absolutely bizarre. If you were to say “Is that what Chaos Control is?” in Japanese, it’d be「それがカオスコントロールか?」(“Sore ga Chaos Control ka?”) and that’s clearly not what the JP subtitles say. Very strange to me to see something like this happen for a big game like this.
This is without a doubt, the best game I’ve ever played, coming back to watch these cutscenes hits me hard with nostalgia!! What an emotional trip it was, without even realising as a youngster, incredible story, so ahead of its time, peak sonic. Absolutely adore this
I always liked Gerald’s voice here. He goes from sounding concerned in the first log, to devastated in the second, to just coldly detached in the last.
I just love Sonic Adventure 2 because of the brilliant story. There is a massive man-made satellite, heading towards earth at a incredible velocity and going to shatter it into a million pieces however they don't take much attention to the actual situation, rather they focus their thoughts on Eggman, the person who they thought caused the drop out of orbit to happen, as Sonic and co. are almost completely consumed by their own anger.
This truly is the best told Sonic story. The plot itself has some holes, but the quality of the dialogue, organic use of humor, and the way each character was portrayed has yet to be topped.
This looks a LOT better than the newer ports, don't get me wrong, in-game the Gamecube version looks better, but when on cutscenes it pales in comparison to the Dreamcast version.
This game was so influential to me. I was the hugest sonic fan as a kid, and between this game being the last one on a Sega console and I didn't believe the plot could be topped, I haven't really played any other Sonic game since. It's the perfect finale game. They did too good of a job. I haven't had a Nintendo console until fairly recently when I got a switch and I'm going to start playing some of the games that came after this soon I think.
Gerald, I understand you lost your granddaughter because humanity feared your research, but why did you give up hope completely? You still had a grandson, and if you helped with his upbringing instead of plotting the destruction of Earth, Eggman might have grown up to be a respectable/non-villainous guy.
I like Knuckles' Adventure voice actor better than the modern ones. Dan Green did a good job in Sonic X, but this dude sounds a little better. Hopefully Idris Elba can make us proud in 2022!
Gerald Robotnik absolutely terrified me as a child. That image of him locked in chains, looking down, unmoving while GUN agents put him to death horrified me. When I realized he's meant to be talking and it's not a still image with audio over it, I lost it. I don't know if they meant to do that or not, but it was creepily brilliant. Also, the way he says "You humans" despite being one implies his knowledge of the Black Arms. I love it.
Shadow Said Sonic reached out to save him but he had to wave him away so they both wouldn’t fall. Shadow admirers that and will never forget Sonics determination to save him
Could you do the same with Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast) too? (all seven stories) That would be pure awesome! Btw awesome quality, final boss fight and love the way you put the preview story scenes too!
+Bence Szarvas Sorry for the late reply, yes once I finished Dragon Quest 8, I will get back doing my Sonic adventure dreamcast playthrough and I will upload all the cutscenes without the gameplay as well.
The Knuckle's part was the hardest on the Dreamcast version. What's annoying about it is that each time he gets a bubble underwater, he sinks down automatically even when I'm not pressing any buttons, I don't know about the GameCube version though.
Also yeah no, the last boss fight I feel had some major atmosphere associated with it; if you weren't to have added that, the sudden jump would be rather jarring. So kudos to you for thinking to do something that I don't think most would think to do.
the fact that shadow and the biolizard were created to help people and payed with their lives for the cruelty of mankind is horrible. seriously shadows life was nothing but emotional pain his sister/brother the biolizard suffered on of the most horrible lives and deaths in gaming. the only one who cared for him/her was gerald and he ended up brainwashing him/her to kill everyone. her death was excruciating and agonizing and very brutal. the only thing they did wrong was not having red blood to go with the pus that was spraying out of the creatures writhing body. but the depiction of the poor creatures agony was so well done that it made me cry as a kid... it was so upsetting to me... humans only care about mammals and reptiles are treated like trash. they may have been trying to depict that in this game.
Will M I can completely understand that. The final story especially carries such a strong, impending sense of doom. The dialogue and music especially NAIL this in really well.
I think it’s because these standards were acceptable for kids back then. Kids back then probably had T taste so that’s how they came. Then again I think it was kind of T rated by the fact it said E for 10 year olds so that was basically T rating
18:13 Is That The Earth In Sonic Colours? I Remember Seeing That Globe In Crazy Gadget In 'Mario And Sonic At The London 2012 Olympic Games' Thinking The Level Was Terminal Velocity In Sonic Colours (Because I Never Played Sonic Adventure 2 Until Now)
I don’t know why, but I get the feeling Gerald Robotnik, desperately wanted to be stopped. I feel that Shadow was created with a mind for that purpose. Why put him on Earth, if you were going to destroy the planet anyway, you wouldn’t need Shadow in the first place.
omg the dream cast version when super sonic and super shadow are fighting in space the biolizer when they fly charge it looks different, i like this version better then the GC and the pc
“Leave this one to me.” Oh shadow, you badass! The master emerald should be bigger. Shadow, you been using chaos control the whole game, and you ask that?!
