Sega Genesis Classics - Over 50 Games! Worth $30? - RIGGS 

God. Imagine getting these 50+ on one disc for 30 dollars in '95!!!

I have this version, PS3 and the Switch version. The Switch version gives you a great rewind feature. Also, the PS4 version has a neat PSVR feature where you get to sit in the room in front of the TV like when you were a kid. Good stuff!

Thanks Riggs! I was looking at this collection on Amazon the other day and was not sure if I should add it to my library. Totally buying a copy now since I don't have any other Genesis compilations.

I wish every company kept coming out with their old games on new systems, just like Movies do. If that happened we literally would not be going through this expensive retro gaming phase everyone is going through

The PSP and ps3 releases were best imo...I still bought this just to support these types of compilations. I was kind of disappointed the region options were not more extensive. For instance the JP version of Decapp Attack which was based on an anime series was far more appealing to me.

Bummer about the lack of unlockable games, but I really wish Sega would do a proper SMS/Sega CD/32X/Arcade collection as well. I'll probably get this anyway, if just for that fast forward/rewind feature. That's pretty cool.

I wish it had Starflight and Star Control. Those are the only Genesis games I played back in the day (I was mostly a SNES fanatic) - but they were incredible ..

Wow, me and my Jr High School buddies were Nintendo fans. We had ONE buddy that was a "Sega Genesis" guy and we taunted him mercilessly for his allegiance to the console. Recently, I bought him a "Genesis does what Ninten-Dont" t shirt because of his unwavering loyalty to the console. Funny how our upbringing was colored by the consoles we owned.

I just picked this up in Switch, and holy cow the lag is real. Even in handheld mode, it’s almost a half second! It’s especially galling since the Sega Ages version of Sonic 1 is perfect.

Got this one at launch so I can say: if you're at all comsiderimg the PS4/XBO versions of this, know that this collection is plagued by sound issues in every game. The audio stutters & pops in ways that the last-gen collection doesn't, & the devs seem less than keen on doing any more patching anytime soon. I was beyond disappointed, & unless it gets fixed, I'd steer clear. Really was gamebreaking for me

$30 is pretty good for what your getting. Having said that, I have Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for the PS3. I may pick this up at some point. However, it's a shame the collection has some issues. Thanks John!

I held off for 2 years because i still play it on Xbox 360. But PS had a sale and I got it for $11 and change after tax. I wanted to play Sword of Vermillion and Shadow Dancer. Two games i wish were on the 360 disc. I have been playing it non stop.

The scan lines that you were talking about that you didn't know why they were there was to give you the look and feel of those old little and a little fuzzy looking TVs in those arcade cabinet back then in the day they were not high definition plasma screens i personally don't like the scan lines luckily it gives you that option

I too also played the other additions, and thought this was a weakly done collection. Almost feels 3rd party with its lack of extra content (esp. comparing to PS3 edition). The best part of the collection is the ability to play the Streets of Rage games in the Japanese versions, which are much more "complete" one might say. Only wish the same was applied to Shinobi 3, which has all female opponent sprites pulled in the Western versions for some reason.

$30 isn't too bad. I might pick this one up. Good video, keep up the great work.

Still sad out of all the compilations released of genesis collection, still no S3&K. Ahhhh that would have been the tipping selling point on selling more copies of the game. Still happy i got the Sonic 3 on megadrive 2 console. Enjoying some real Nostalgia moments. Awesome video Riggs. Reliving the Sega memories on PS4 sounds awesome!! XD

My thinking whenever I see a collection like this is, if I'm going to spend 30+ dollars on this, why not just put that into my cartridge fund instead? Just my opinion.

Been on steam for awhile, just updated for vr and online multiplayer support.

I'll most likely get this collection. However, I really wish they would have included "Out Of This World". Also as you mentioned, it would have been nice to have the ported arcade games from the previous SEGA Genesis Collection installments. I've always liked Vector graphics & it would have been nice to have Zektor, Tac/Scan, Eliminator, Space Fury, all in HD. Atari recently released a 2600 collection on PS4 which included ported arcade titles like Tempest & Space Duel, & they look great. Hopefully we get a SEGA Arcade collection soon.

No Last Battle, Splatter House, Moonwalker, Rambo 3, Pit Fighter, Batman and other shmups.

I bought this collection for Steam on Amazon a little over three years ago for around $2.75. I think the only thing that it didn't have during the initial release but that was released later were the Toejam and Earl games and Sonic the Hedgehog, which I eventually picked up during a Build Your Own Bundle type deal on Bundlestars (which is now known as "Fanatical") The old Steam collection was just updated to the new PC release so it has the same features as the new console releases too. This new console release is missing the Ecco the Dolphin games, Eternal Champions, and Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Also, with the Steam version you get to use the Steam Workshop features which includes numerous ROM hacks and mods that people are continually working on. Plus you can grab your legally purchased uncompressed ROMs and use them how you see fit in an emulator on other systems. I doubt it will ever hit anywhere near $3 again, but I would still go with the PC version over the console version.

Last compilation had 49 games, Ghouls and Ghosts is gone. Was really wanting to see it here again, last compilation had the colors too dark. Sega has the full rights the Thunder Force games now, They should be here too.

I went for the Switch version for the convenience portability. Payed 25 euro for it.

I was looking for a way to play Beyond Oasis since I remember renting it and ended up liking the game but I only play for so long before having to take it back. I can now get to experience it. Plus other great titles I get to try that I didn't own like Golden Axe and Street of Rage titles that I heard are great.

I like the collection it has, but for a Zelda-like game I probably would’ve chosen Crusader of the Centy over Beyond Oasis. Still waiting on a PC Engine collection

Streets of rage 2 is already on ps4 for a long long time. Only ones I'd want is shinobi games

This collection is available since 2010 on Steam. In 2016 it was updated to support romhacks (yes, that room appeared). In 2018 they updated it again just to drop support of Win XP and add pointless VR. Anyway, just buy PC version where uncompressed ROMs are also available. BTW: Streets of Rage 2 and 3 have all regional versions. NO DRM for games and older emulator at all.

I'd get this for my dad who was into the genesis back in the day but he wouldn't recognize any of the games on it :(

I have a habit of collecting sega licensed games and they really should do a Nintendo one yea Nintendo is still in business but since it’s retro they can get away with it and even if it’s Nintendo only tho I’m sure you can download from the online store but I prefer physical I have my emulators on my psp if I wanted downloaded games
