This thumb lock was in the famous WW2 training book by Fairburn. He had been a British policemen in the docks of Shanghai or something and he said this lock was tricky to set up, but well worth mastering because it was so effective

I've managed to talk my way out of several fights, and only had my nose broken once by a Navy SEAL. That's pretty good for all the security work I've done over the past 30 years. Appreciate the detail you show with these moves.

I know a cop, who arrested with others some Russian guys. One of them was an ex-Spez Naz. They were all part of organised crime but apparently put up little resistance. You never know who will put up a huge fight and who doesn't. A female relative of mine bit a piece out of a robber and I've seen a video of an old dude putting a punk in his place. Apparently, he was in his late 70s and a former professional boxer. Really a bad idea to punch him... PS: the robber tried to pull her purse away from her, but by instinct, she tensed up and since she was lighter lost the tug of war and fell on top of him and he rolled around ending up on top of her and she panicked, and bit him like a pitbull and didn't let go. He tried to push her off and thus she ended up with a piece of flesh stuck in her mouth... She then went to the hospital because her jaw hurt and she had fear of venereal diseases...

The best part of Aikido is that it’s useful for both genders (men and women) AND older folks because it requires ZERO STRENGTH to use. In fact, if you do use strength, you’re performing the technique incorrectly. My first Aikido Sensei basically took out an entire NY Street Gang in Central Park using just a rolled up section of newspaper. He was a 7th Dan Master. But that was the 1980’s. No guns in the mix.

When I was a working educator in South Florida I used Aikido constantly working in inner city high schools over a thirty year period. Never sued or disciplined because it’s impossible to use Aikido in an offensive manner. It’s all about redirecting energy used against you.

Azu said the man was refusing to move so the following technique would not work, but he is right with the gentle approach, unlike some doorman who do it for the violence, which I could never understand because you still get the same hourly rate even if you are fighting all night. Manager wants someone out, approach and simply say can I have a quick word with you at the front door. Once you get to the front door he is out or virtually out. On one occasion using that technique, we got halfway to the door and the guy realized what was happening, I was working by myself the other doorman had not arrived. This man as realised what's happening and the his friend as approached. Now you have to come across as if you taking on the 2 of them is not a problem. 'Listen he is leaving, you can do whatever you want', the wrist lock technique Azu just showed is on in a second, which usually calms the friend down especially if his mate registers and make an audible sound from the pain.

I love your videos. I have high ranking black belts in 5 different arts-- and 99% of that BS is useless on the street.. what you teach WORKS.. THANK YOU.. I am also doing CANE-DO now-- (based on arnis/excrima and sword arts like kendo, iado etc.-- and LOVE that. I teach it exclusively now. 1- it's legal ANYWHERE- 2- NO permits (like guns) 3- NO ammo (like guns) 4- can't accidentally kill the innocent person 40 ft. BEHIND the attacker (like a gun) 5- It's always in my hand and ready 6- I can EASILY handle multiple attackers with it 7 - It increases my REACH- which gives me more time to be AWARE and know what's going on 8- It LOOKS Defensive in court if some fool videos the "encounter".. and so much more. PLUS- I got mashed between two trucks in 99 and NEED it for support!!! (and I forgot that I can even EXERCISE my muscles with it!!)

That move only works when they're NOT sweaty, then we result having two to three bouncers to escort him out the club without throwing any punches.

I've worked at the same bar for 5yrs now its one of those bars that on a Friday that if we aren't cleaning blood an teeth off the floor we wasn't open any advice how not let things get there
@wildnfree101
@wildnfree101 Год назад
Attract more women to the bar stop letting gangs of men in. Depending on the type of bar, up the dress code, for example no trainers no sports wear.
@azuspointofview5110
@azuspointofview5110 Год назад
So true. It all depends on the type of people you let in. When I work in rough venues, I make a point of getting to know the local and gain their trust then sometimes, they come to you with any issues instead of dealing with the issues themselves.

In the US, putting your hands on someone’s wrist will probably get a reaction and escalate things. It would definitely get a response from me. I used to be a bouncer. I once had a bouncer grab my wrist because someone didn’t like something I said. I put him on the ground and walked myself out.

As soon as you lay hands on...then it's classed as assault, subtle or not. Aikido only works on untrained victims.
@christophersteingart2237
@christophersteingart2237 Год назад
@@waynesimpson2074 I definitely agree with you 100% from a legal aspect about the hands on. That’s why I commented on the video. I don’t want new bouncers getting wrong ideas. As a bouncer, I only put my hands on someone when it’s time for immediate application of physical force. However, I have effectively used aikido techniques on people who are trained and resistant. At the same time, I would never advise anyone that aikido in itself is applicable to surviving a real street fight. There’s multiple reasons I quit being a bouncer. There’s too many assholes attending martial arts classes these days. Many of these assholes go to bars. I don’t have the patience anymore to be a good bouncer, anymore than I have the patience to be a good cop. Once one of these assholes forces me to really hurt them, I’m on everybody’s shit list. These assholes almost always got some homies that then want to find a way to get a piece of me. Not only that, but too many bars have stupid female bartenders that don’t respect my job.
@waynesimpson2074
@waynesimpson2074 Год назад
@@christophersteingart2237 As a doorman you're onto a lose-lose footing and you have to accept that you will be sacrificed by your bosses at some point, you're damned if you don't get them over the threshold and damned if you use too much force doing it. It's a conveyor belt....next bouncer please...

@azu. Do you think most of aikidoka are aware of the elements of aikido? Shize kokyu kami mai-ai tai sabaki, irimi attemi. Ura ammote kokyu rokkyu? People get too focused on techniques and form as opposed to the essence and reality of o sensies teachings?? It appears you are aware of it and in a round about way are teaching the essence of the elements.

Fighting basically comes down to just you know the man being the art and of course in street fighting may I know this is England so this is way tougher than the states way tougher ultimately you know it comes down to blended in the art with whatever gets the job done if you got a car run the enemy over they don't play by the rules nor should you and if they're pointing a gun go ahead and have a bottle of something bleach rubbing alcohol something flammable permanent eye damage because let's face it 99% of the time you know they're not martial artists that did not trained assassins they're idiots trying to cause harm because their failures in life so they need to be put down permanently that way they no longer have that problem of breathing the job as we martial artist must always to protect and defend ourselves and uphold what is right and show this wrong world the wrong path and it's on by breaking fools and half when they get out of line you got to realize we only get one onelife I mean you always have to protect and defend and always be ready and nationally in any fight always Dodge counter and expect this isn't the intent to harm not the time to be standing around wondering should I know do not get out of the way counter blindside you know and do as much harm to the attacker and enjoy they don't play by the rules so why should we and Aikido is one of the great close range forms of combat I respect thanks for sharing and all the best on life's journey 👊
