Just started today and at 85 years, was able to complete the standup session. Expect to do better each day and will be doing this daily. Need to keep up with your tempo and each day will get closer to your pace. Thank you for this workout which I thought would be a breeze, but watching it was simple and doing it showed me I was wrong but still thought it was great!

I probably have done a dozen of your workouts and I love them all! I’d begin with the resistance band workouts about a year ago and would love some new ones for a variety. At 76 I know that resistance training is important and I like the dumbbells but I think I like the resistance bands better. Thank you for your sweet spirit and the wonderful variety of workouts that you provide.

Truly love working out with you. I agree that your soft-spoken style is relaxing instead of demanding. I especially like the 10 minute offerings. Would it be possible to get some resistance band in those also? I feel like I need that extra resistance. I am 76 and feel better than I did 30 years ago!

I started this 6 days ago, and I've been doing the exercises every day, except Saturday, which is my usual schedule. Right now, I'm sticking with this because of a stress fracture in my foot, but I'm looking forward to trying some of the others. Thank you for putting together video workouts for "seniors." It's so important to do our best to stay strong and active as we age.

Tried a resistance band today. My first time using one. I hate to admit it, but I originally didn’t think it would give me much of a workout. I even chose a medium band. Boy was I wrong. I definitely felt this. This was a great workout and very simple to do. I love doing new types of workouts with you. I gives me the chance to experiment with different things so that I don’t get bored. Thanks for all the work you put into these videos.

I think I've been doing this for about 2 weeks now, and I try to do it 6 times a week. What's so nice is that I can feel that I'm getting stronger. It's such a great full body workout. I have avoided "senior" workouts because I've always been active and exercised regularly. But this is actually challenging. I want to try some of the other exercises, and I will. But right now, I'm very happy with this. Thank you again.

I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and this is the perfect exercise for me to strengthen my muscles without adding strain on my joints. I love the body checks. So important!

Thank you Lauren this is a great workout for strength. I have a condition fibromyalgia although I don’t claim it as my own. I cannot tell you how much your sessions have helped me. The only thing I don’t do is yoga ❤

My husband found this! I'm 71 and I had surgery for a tibia plateau fracture about a year and a half ago. I've always been very active, and exercise regularly, but recovery from that injury has been difficult. I've kept up with exercising, and NOW it seems as though I have a stress fracture on the opposite foot! These are great exercises, and I'm wondering if I can do them daily or do I need to skip a day. Right now, it's the only exercise I can do, and I desperately want to do something!

I'm glad you are able to do this workout Anne! As long as you are not too sore then, yes, you can do it everyday. Many of my workouts are at a similar pace and style to this one. There may be many more that I can recommend. What exactly are you looking for, and what do you need to avoid?

@@SeniorShapeFitness I really, really want to stay in shape. I like being strong and active, but I’ve managed to hurt my back a couple of times, probably from bad form. I have horses, so lifting my saddle is important. I’ve been trying to do some pushups, but I have arthritis in my wrists and hands. I can do them, but it’s painful. I also have valgus knees from tibia plateau fractures to both knees (yes, related to the horses). I’ve worked hard to build strength in my quads, but I often end up with hip pain. However, I noticed the stretches you provide in this video definitely help. I would do anything you recommend. I’m actually quite mobile, and can do most things. Mostly, I want to stay safe so I can keep going! Thank you so much!!

I really love your workouts with resistance bands. Can you do more pilates and barre with bands? I started with your slower paced videos (which i always go back to when i start working out again after a pause) but i am feeling these strengthening workouts! i definitely feel stronger than a few months ago! So glad to hear that you are getting stronger! Good for you! I'll eventually do more videos with bands, I just have a very long list right now and only so much time to film and edit videos. Have you done all the videos on the resistance band playlist? You can also add a loop band to most exercises in any barre and pilates video. Just a thought!

Lauren, I started working out with you 2 weeks into a ligament injury. Today was the first time in weeks that I was able to do some movements while standing up, even though I wasn't able to execute the full range of motion. Your seated workouts have helped so very much in building strength and helping me feel a sense of control over my body. Your work makes a huge difference. Thank you 🫂

I love your exercise videos and this was the first time I did the resistance bands with handles. I loved adding this variety to my workout, but was having difficulty with the resistance band rolling up my legs and was also afraid it was going to slip off my shoe and hit me in the face. Half way through the leg exercises, the handle broke off the band. I guess I will stick with your other workouts that I love.

Oh no! Sounds like maybe it't time for a new band. The elastic will wear out overtime. Also, you could use a theraband (without handles) and that way it won't roll or slip off. Just a thought. So glad you are enjoying the workouts :)

I know I've commented a lot! I tried one modification that seems helpful for me, especially since I have arthritis in my hands and probably some tendinitis in my wrists. For the tricep exercises, it's hard for me to hold the band on my shoulder with my opposite hand. What I do is put a hand towel across the back of my neck and just over my shoulders (for padding). Then I place the band in the same position over the towel. Now I can hold the opposite side easily, with good tension, while I'm doing the tricep exercise with the other side. I hope that's considered safe, and I hope it makes sense!

Thanks Tasha. I recommend doing strength training (like this video) 3 times a week. If weight loss is your goal, add in some cardio to your exercises program as well. I have many videos that have both!

I have another update. It looks like I’ve been doing these exercises for about 2 months now, and I’ve seen a big improvement! I fractured my tibia about 2 years ago, and even though I exercised regularly and still incorporated PT movements, my progress seemed slow. After following this routine on a regular basis (I do it 3 times a week, along with 30 minutes on my exercise bike 6 times a week), I’m moving so much better. Not only that, but I’m quite a bit stronger. My husband and I already had a variety of exercise bands, and it’s nice to have different strengths. However, one problem I was having was holding the bands tightly because of pain when the band caused pressure on some areas of my hands. This was mainly when I was doing the shoulder and chest exercises. So I decided to experiment by using a door anchor for the band so I could hold onto the handles instead. I had to modify things slightly, but that seems to have solved my problem. Thank you again for these wonderful exercises. I have my annual checkup later this week, and I’m looking forward to telling my doctor about this!

Good morning in NY Lauren, My son moved out and left his bands. I’ve seen so many YT videos on using bands but not one explains the size or color to use or if or when to change them. I’ve got 10-50. I think I’m this video you’re using a 20lb?

HI Paul, that's a great question, yet an impossible one to answer! So many different companies manufacture these types of bands and they are all different strengths and colors. The one I am using is an older one and I have no idea what strength/weight it is. As a general rule, the skinnier or thinner the rubber tubing it, the lighter or easier the resistance will be. Pick one to start with and try to do about 10 reps of an Exercise. If it is too easy, then you should try a thicker band (which should be more difficult by providing more resistance). As you get stronger you progress to a thicker (heavier) band. Does that help at all?

Hi the leg exercises from 25.43 on words can it be done with an ankle weight so that my hands are free, the reason is because of CTS , I hope not to use my hands for my lower body exercises

Can you please rephrase your question? At the 25 min mark we are in a seated position using the bands for triceps. We don’t use the legs at all during this time.

@@seohlengtay6011 they can be done with ankle weights, however, keep in mind you may feel it more in your hip flexors and not as much in your quads. Because the weight is further down your leg, your leg will have to work harder to hold it up so you may feel tension in the front of your hips.

can these all be done with long flat loop bands too? i just invested in long flat bands and now i see all exercises in you tube with every other band than long flat loop bands :(((

Yes! Other resistance bands will work too. The kind you got are great as well. Just take a few extra seconds to figure out what the appropriate loop is for each exercise so you have good resistance. Thanks for working out with me!

Love this workout, have done it a number of times. But today when I went to do the calf stretch, the band slipped off and banged me right in the chest! Oh my poor boobies!!!! From now on I do that stretch standing without the band!!!!

Oh no! Hope you are okay. This is also a good reminder for everyone to check their bands. Over time they can wear and have small tears that can snap the band.
