A lot has been going on in the field of cellular senescence and senolytics in the last year. In today's video, we catch up on the latest breaking news in this field.
We'll be taking a look at second-generation senolytics, molecules that can eliminate senescent cells while leaving healthy cells intact. We'll talk about grape-seed extract, a naturally occurring substance that's getting a closer look from researchers.
We'll also be examining a new senolytics that acts like a "smart bomb" to seek-and-destroy senescent cells and a new senolytic "vaccine" that uses the immune system to eliminate senescent cells.

it is so funny when non doctors always kick the bucket of responsibility down to the doctor when we all know doctors are not taught about supplements....everytime i have asked a doctor about supplements i get a blank look and a scholarly reply of i dont know its not approved by the fda...its so funny how every supplement commercial says please consult a physician before use???? just look up the contraindications yourself...that is what i do...perhaps we may need to add our senolytics vaccine to the hundreds of vaccines we will need in our vaccine passports 20 years into the future....i take senolyitics when i fast...maybe the combination of that and increased autophagy works synergistically...just a hypothesis though

Doctors draw a blank on anything that is outside the prescription list. It is like going through their script and only prescribe those medication that are listed. I have noticed the supplements and also some books on healing state to consult your doctor prior to taking them. Why write a book, when they just list supplements but not when and how much to take them?

Supposedly add to the list pine bark extract (according to the Sheekey Science Show), also available as a supplement. I'm doing Fisetin, grape seed extract, pine bark extract, curcumin (with piperine) and quercetin. Not all at once but for a few days in a row and then move to the next. Maybe just focusing on one or two types a month and then another type the next month would be better.

Great video, just found your channel and I love your content. Question- is there information out there on how to rotate different senolytics to target senescence cells from different parts of the body? I’m just starting out with Fisetin and quercetin, but I wasn’t sure if there was info out there that stated which ones targeted which organs/ tissues? Also, since you mention PCC1 as a gen 2, would that imply that taking grape seed oil would target all senescence cells and not just certain areas? I appreciate any feedback 😊

The science of senolytics is so new that there are no definitive answers. I'm currently taking dasatinib + quercetin and I'm also taking fisetin. I'm taking the D+Q every 6 months. Fisetin can be taken for 2 or 3 days once a month, although I'm currently taking it with the D+Q. There's a lot of advice, but in my opinion, no one really know the exact proper dosage and timing.

@rafaelortega1376 2 года назад
I would take the higher dose for 14 days every month. He said that the effect lasts for 19 days, if I recall well, and that high dose for a short period is better to prevent side effects. For Quercitine I do not do that. I am taking 1 gram of a not very pure version every day to improve zinc absorption. I am doing that because NAC tends to remove zinc and this counteracts that effect. You should also take copper because zinc and cooper compete in the same metabolic route. As you can see, things tend to complicate naturally.

Doesn't fasting and autophagy help clear these cells?
@LanceHitchings
@LanceHitchings Год назад
Nope. You're confusing autophagy with apoptosis. Apoptosis, or programmed cell death, is a process that happens TO cells, to the entire cell. Apoptosis eventually kills senescent cells and then they are cleared out be the immune system. Autophagy is a process that goes on INSIDE of cells, where they recycle damaged proteins and other cellular waste, making the cells healthier. And much less likely to undergo apoptosis. However, autophagy can SUPPRESS cellular senescence. It's makes the cells more healthy and much less like to become senescent.

I don't understand the connection between the hayflick limit and aging. Take skin cells. The hayflick limit stipulates that a cell can only divide 50-75x, and skin cells are replaced every 2-3 months. 75 divisions x 3 months per division = about 18 years. So why do we still have skin after the age of 18?
@michael-qp9xd

@PaulThomas-qb9cx
@PaulThomas-qb9cx 2 года назад
You bring up a very interesting point. Senescent cells play a contradictory role in wound healing, depending on a variety of factors including population density in the area of interest. There's a recent paper exploring this very issue: Clinical Implications of Cellular Senescence on Wound Healing Resnik et al 07 Nov 2020 Current Dermatology Reports (9) 286-297 My observation is that wounds heal faster at a younger age than an older age, so inversely proportional to the stock of senescent cells.
