Welcome to Schony747 trains on a Wednesday. If you enjoy the video, hit the like the button and press the bell to subscribe to Schony747 for weekly updates.
This week streamliner diesel locomotives leading trains on the mainline in 2020 are featured. The last streamliner diesel locomotive was built in 1972. Streamliners built in Australia were built between 1952 and 1972. It's pretty amazing that these icons are still running around in 2020 hauling trains on the mainline! A list of locomotives can be seen below -
00:32 - CLF1, GM22, RL306, RL302
02:36 - GM27 (not GM22 as the title says), 442s2
04:34 - S302, S312
06:03 - B76, B80
07:23 - 42103
08:59 - B76, B76
10:21 - CLF2, C501, CLF4
13:57 - GM22, 48s35, 48s34, G514
Have a great Wednesday and enjoy these icons - Brenden S.

Love the 2 x Bs and X31 up Glenroy Bank. Victorian Railways! Overall, a great video. USA residents will rub their eyes in wonder. A very happy Christmas to you Brenden and huge thanks for bringing us these videos with such regularity during a difficult year with by far the worst mismanagement of 'the virus' in Oz.

@@Schony747 Far more importantly, I hope you have a continuing inflow of more subscribers and 'likes' to recognise the effort you take. You are recording railway history as in five years' time, who knows what locos will be running around?

Streamliners are like British class 37s and 40s, a sense of style and long lasting quality, around when others fail to make the grade.

8:15 that's an unusual style isn't it, streamlined nose at one end and flat nose at the B end, a bit like a BR Class 91
@Schony747
@Schony747 3 года назад
The 421 was an interesting one as it could be driven on the mainline from both ends unlike the VR S which was restricted and didn't have full driver controls at the flat end.

So, lots of "heritage" ex-VR locos still cruising the trap (not just the bull noses). But all with painted numbers. Who got the cast plates?
@Schony747
@Schony747 3 года назад
It's always an interesting question and I'm sure plates have been acquired in unconventional circumstances. Probably the most diplomatic way to answer that!

And the Clyde builders plates, which were fitted to the valance panels over the fuel tanks on the B class. The panels were removed during 1960s-70s.

Great video Brendan, Couple of things, is there any drivers view footage from Flinders st to Qube yard. Always wondered which tracks are involved to get from the outside flank of Southern Cross to Dynon Rd. It is a real shame C 501 is sandwich between the 2 beautiful CL, couldn't be in better company. Here is an idea, RP should buy XRB paint them up to match the CL & sandwich it between them. That would be awesome to see a booster unit between 2 beautiful bulldog loco's. Another great video again Brendan

Drivers views on House Train may help, although PTV and Vline passenger driver training focussed. Spencer St to Broadmeadows one shows lots of the Dynon dual gauge trackwork. It is his most viewed video.

@@edmundcarew7235 ,sorry, i thought this was an sct train. i know what iirc stands for. what does sbr stand for? can you tell me anything about rail power? i looked around the internet and found traces, along with the fact that ssr now has one of their old locos, i thought the company must have no longer existed. yet here are 2 locos with new signs on them.
