I'm really glad that Serena won. These are the sort of matches she needs to be winning; the tough, gritty matches. They would do a lot for her confidence and game. And once she hits top gear, she's practically unstoppable. Looking forward to her finally breaking the unlucky streak and winning #24 at the US Open.

Wow, wow, wow!!! This match was a display to sheer will power and mental fortitude. Its like she literally told herself "you're not loosing to this opponent" and willed herself to win! She just shifted her game mentally and took charge of the match. This was just so amazing. This is what makes her and incredibly great champion. So much admiration for her....

@GreaterGood510 She actually did. All through her career she and her sister had to put up with all kinds of nonsense especially when they are playing in their own country. She just returned from having a baby, hormones going wild and had to deal with the same crap. She lost it. That tells me she has had enough and was not prepared to take anymore of the crap. Natural human reaction. She apologized and had to pay a fine. I dont see anybody rehashing Sharapova doping incident. Leave this champion alone.

As the first months have passed she's gotten leaner and her court coverage is improving. With regards to her opponent, forget about the ranking, her opponentalready beat 3 top ranked players and she played a hell of match. And I've seen in recent matches when opponents had serena on the ropes she hasnt always been able to fight her way through. She did that today.

in the first two matches, Serena was serving 150-160kmh. Thursday evening she was serving 120-140kmh. Against Osaka she was serving easily 170-180 and in this match she served easily 180-190kmh. She has more testosterone in her body than many mens

Bradley Owusu just BC u have a grand slam or two under Ur belt doesn't mean your deemed to be the future of women tennis! I mean look at sharapova! After she won her slams people were raving and saying shes the future then she didn't live up to it. And this was b4 the doping case! So that honestly shouldn't be considered. Many young players have not even made it one final in those 2 years. I still maintain this is not about age.It is about bringing her service game and reducing the unforced errors in the finals.
This match is going to mean a lot to Serena.. Bouzkova was hitting those balls hard but Serena said I can do it better and then some.. This was prime Serena!

I was giving up after thr first set, but then Serena woke up and started smacking winners to turn the match around. Great test for Serena. Good luck in the Finals!
What a great contest. What I loved best was that they both went for their shots, and the quality was high from both. Really enjoyable to watch, and just a pity in a way that one has to win and one has to lose. They are both great, and I look forward to many more exciting matches like this one.

You know what I love about Serena in this match? Even when she was being outplayed (and Serena was playing well, so credit to Bouzkova) she looked like she was enjoying playing! She didn't look exasperated as she sometimes does when she's up against someone playing lights out.

Jeffrey Kaufmann let’s see Serena is playing good in this competition. People always put limits to her capacity and when serena win I don’t know what to say but I am sure shes one of the remarkable player in the history of tennis.
@@jpgonzales4141apart from Osaka Serena hasnt played any top 15 player in the tournament and Andreescu is 25th in the world. At Wimbeldon Serena didnt have to play a top 20 player to get to the finals and she still looked tired in the final. If all the top players get to the 2nd week of the U.S Open it will be even harder for Serena to get to that final. And Halep's road to the final was almost as easy. She only faced one top ten player and faced only unseeded players till the quarterfinals.
Jeffrey Kaufmann and aside from that Serena beaten Halep for how many times when Serena doesn’t have a baby, do not compare Serena and Halep this time because they are not on the same boat, how I wish that Halep would have a baby and let’s see if she play the same.
