I was watching the start of this video and thought "what a cute rear view mirror dangle, it looks just like a crane ball!" Then I noticed the rear view mirror looked just like a top sheave. Then I finally realized what I was looking at.
l wilton, it does kind of look like a rearview mirror dangle. I just noticed that! You also gave me an idea. 🤔. I need a crane ball rearview mirror dangle now. Lol. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍
Well congrats to your friend! Just a few more days til you'll be there. I totally forgot to plug my nitrous induced video early when I commented. To see what it's like when a train is huffing on the bottle, check out "When 8-Year Olds Run The Trains".
I like the super view, let’s you see more of what is going on around you. Seems a better first person POV. Thanks for sharing, always a pleasure to watch! Keep up the good work!
G4 Outdoors, I had a different person giving me signals on the second unit. Thanks for motivating me to make my RU-vid channel, and thanks for watching! 🙂
I was setting HVAC in Phillips, Wisc. today at a grocery store. I rolled up at the site after 1 1/4hrs. on the road. The unit was 4 ft. off the side, but overhead power lines were right on the other side of the lane. I squeezed my outriggers to a 1/2" from the glass wall, swung the boom up & scoped out enough stick to center on the unit, keeping the boom low. I got the old unit off, set it down, picked the new unit and set it. The truck is under the wires, but the boom is short and low barely outside of 10 feet. As I was swinging back to pick up the old unit to put it on their trailer, I saw a man in a hard hat standing next to me. Utility Company rep. I guess 3 people called them, so he came out check me out. I was definitely close, but I'm sure I was 11 -12 feet from the conductors. (if the minimums aren't good enough, they shouldn't be the minimums) He agreed I was within limits but said, "If you get any closer, I'm shutting you down. If you don't shut down, I'm calling the police." He took some pictures, maybe some video, then took over as safety observer, and we loaded up the old unit & I was done. I understand the danger, I thanked him for his help, BIG hand shake. WHEW! On to the next job two hours away, & attempt to set set up on an ice covered slope to set trusses. I love this work, NO STRESS!
Got to love HVAC work, sure beats setting trusses! Easier on the crane, o ne or two lifts instead of dozens. The tip of boom HD camera system I have on my National makes it even easier. 22 years of doing this work, and I'll never work without a camera again.
Good Evening, I saw you sent some cool go pro stuff to one of my favorite channels let's dig, so I came over to say that it was an awesome gesture to do that and I am sub'en to your channel to check out what your doing as a way to say thanks for your generosity that was dang nice. I look forward to enjoying your channel take care and enjoy your weekend!😊
Crazy Craig's RC's and 3d, thank you! Hopefully, Chris can put the mounts to use. I use the very same stuff to get footage for my videos. Thanks for coming by and subscribing. 🙂
I think you're just having too much fun with that nitrous ! 😊 It is fun to watch though ! That's a good view with the camera, don't really notice the bubble effect much ! It might distort the distance some but giving a larger view of surroundings is nice. Thanks for sharing and take care. 👍
Bleu Wolf, it's a 50 ton boom truck. Line pull is only 10,000 lbs. As far as boom trucks are concerned,it is pretty big. In comparison to the Tadano that I usually operate, it isn't very big. Thanks for watching.
Hey Jimmy, another neat perspective from the driver's/operators seat. I was noticing that at this current moment you're sitting just 31 subscribers short of your 1000th...then I read another comment from further down saying that your buddy was just 10 shy of his. Maybe another day or two for you. I hope it's just bragging rights on the line or maybe a steak dinner and not having to wear a diaper around town for the day...hahaha!
eSPeeScotty, I am closing in on the 1000 mark. However, G4 Outdoors hit 1000 today. It was pretty neat though. I have "To The Top Crane" registered to my personal email, and had subscribed to his channel a long time ago. Just recently, I made an email account for my channel so subscribers could contact me. I used that new account to be his 1000th subscriber. So, in essence, the channel "To The Top Crane" became his 1000th sub and solidified the win for him. There wasn't anything at stake. Just a friendly competition. I am happy he made it. He has had his channel since the latter part of 2016. He was monetized until the new rules in February. As always, Thanks for watching!
A couple things about this one. That camera want all that bad with distortion so at least I didn't mind it. I had a friend watching this video with me (hopefully he subscribed) and he was asking about the 90 ft. radius you were talking about. I thought I explained it pretty well but by the look on his face maybe not. The next time, could you talk about the radius and why it's important to your boom and weight? It's been a long time for me running it so I'm sure I left something out. Thanks a bunch for the video and I'm sure I'll chat with (or to you) ya later😜👍‼️
Mark Mortensen, I threw a little segment in about radius, while I was recording today. I'm also going to do another livestream this Sunday, June 10th @ 6pm central. So, I'll talk more about it then. Thanks for watching! 🙂
Nice video ! I actually run a 50128 Manitex except mines sitting on a western star and tandem steer, tandem drive ! Would love to get a day on your Tadano, I'm sure the chart would blow my mind compared to the 50 lol
Ty Newman, I'm doing a livestream on Sunday. I'll have the Tadano load charts with me, so I can answer questions. I do know that I can pick 65,000 at 60 feet. I had to look that up for a job. Thanks for watching! 🙂
Nice job Jimmy. Does that Manitex go full roatation on its axis? On the 25 Manitexs you had to go back around. A National I was on would go around 360°... Enjoy your videos thanks for sharing.
The nitrous ride sure was hard on the hairdo! Thanks for all the sacrifices you make for our viewing pleasure! How many ton ac units were those? About 30?
Wayne Tharp, the nitrous thing came about because I wanted to reduce the amount of music that I was using for those with vision impairment. So far, the nitrous thing seems to be a hit. Thank you for watching my content. You all, meaning my subscribers, are what drives me to make the best content that I am capable of with my limited computer knowledge. Thank you for watching! 🙂. Oh, I don't know the size of the units.
To The Top Crane The videos just keep getting better in my opinion! My better half has sold surplus heating and air for 25 years. I could ask her and she would know! I am the same way on limited tech knowledge. She sold 3 50 ton units going to Florida/Georgia line area the first of the week to cool buildings housing the Bit Coin computer stuff. I guess it really puts off the heat and they need huge units to constantly keep everything from overheating. Way beyond my brain comprehension!😂
Wayne Tharp, he got a little boost. He's going to beat me to 1000 unless something miraculous happens. He's currently at 990. That's ok though. I hope he does beat me to 1000. More than anything, I was trying to spur him into uploading content regularly. Keep him motivated. 😉
With this crane? I can't fully extend and lay it flat, straight out, and pick up anything. It can be laid down flat, straight over the rear, fully extended. But, only for inspection and maintenance purposes.
I’m a small crane service in FL. Been in business since 1964. We currently have 2 machines (Altec’s) and looking at buying a 2016 TC500 50155shl on a peterbuilt with a mx13. Just wondering what your overall thoughts are on the manitex machine and was wondering what engine you have in your truck there. Both of my Altec machines are pre-emission and I’ve never dealt with these new engines that have all of the DEF and EGR stuff on them. Just wondering how it’s working out because cranes do a lot of idling and from what I understand these newer engines do not like to idle.
What kind of shackles were you using to rig the condenser unit? Assuming you used shackles since I didn't see any straps below the unit. Duplicate question to the one I sent you on your FB page. Thanks for the videos - newbie boom truck owner and operator.
diggermitch1, it was secured on this one. It has a strap connected from the bumper to the hook. Just not pulled very tight. On the big crane, the hook/block is so out of line with the tieback point that it wouldn't make a difference if it was tied back. Thanks for watching! 🙂
When they built the Home Depot back here after the tornado they used a helicopter to set the ac units. I guess they couldn’t reach the center of the building with a crane
Elite Earthworks LLC, I've seen a few helicopter picks. Those pilots are pretty amazing! I'll stick with picking things up while staying on the ground though. 😉
MS Earthworks, the crane portion with the outriggers are an independent unit mounted on a truck chassis. The entire crane portion can be removed and installed on a different chassis. A crane is a purpose built chassis/crane combination. Thanks for watching! 🙂
Not only does that thing accelerate like a crotch-rocket, it corners like one too. Can you get the web site for that mod, I need a little more power to pass Prius's & such, especially on grades! :)
When I park my 30 ton National at the end of the day, I get in my Prius for the drive home. They can scoot pretty good you just have to put your foot down, hard. Last tank was 68 MPG, beats the Mack's 5 mpg.
