Setting up Yaseu FT991A Group Monitor “GM” and DG-ID C4FM Communications

The FT991A has a feature called Group Monitor “GM” that is used to display a virtual room on your radio display that allows you to see the call sign and distance (optional view for signal strength) is available under the “Menu Setup” setting 88 of all the stations that are within communication range.
The DG-ID feature allows you to add a code to a frequency that can make the conversation private. There 01-99 different codes that can be selected. For example, in this video initially we start out with the TX and RX codes at 00, we then add the TX / RX code of 50 to one of the 10 programmable memory locations, then we activate that memory location while on memory location 20, this mask now requires anyone on the frequency now must have the matching TX / RX tone

GREAT presentation. AMAZING TECHNOLOGY. I wish more hams who own CF4M radios would use that mode when communicating. I travel around the country quite a bit for work and there are a ton of CF4M REPEATERS but it’s very rare to hear HAMS using C4FM. I wish that YAESU would actually spend the time to put out instructional videos to showcase this technology. Good morning Pascal how have you been? Yeah this C4FM is pretty cool. I have a question and maybe you can answer it, is there a software program I can download that would allow me to access wires-x (say from my hotel room) and using a Jabra headset and have live QSO's? (similar to a interface like HRD or Win4Suite softwar)? - again thanks for the message and '73 de KI5JUF

My GM button will not hold. As soon as I press it the screen changes and where you have all the codes my just says ALL.

In the example in the DR-2X Manual, p. 23, they have the Group with a set TX ID of 01 and RX ID of 0, and the Repeater set to DG ID of 1. It seems this allows the group to communicate privately, but also allow for all Group Members to hear any DG ID of 0 and FM from the Repeater (?). Still trying to wrap my head around this...

Good morning Lee, thanks for the message I'll download the the manual and start digging in, we currently do not have a C4FM repeater here in Abilene, we've only operated simplex, I know we a two simultaneous QSO's same frequency 1 at TX/RX00 and the other at TX50/RX50 and we did seem to be interfering RF wise so there may be some isolation like a VPN on each DG-ID could you email me shope02@yahoo.com I'd like to work with you (swap note) on this, do you operate a DR-2X repeater now?
