FT991A Accessing C4FM Wires X Node - Programming Memory Channel and Changing Room Example with QSO

This video demonstrates how to change the room in a Wires-X connection. I our simplex QSO last night our friend W5SLG extended the privilege to access his Wires X node and change the room.
We configure our four F1-F4 buttons for C4FM, set the mode to C4FM, program the frequency into a memory location and give the memory location a name.

Recently acquired a FT-991a and appreciate your video and information. The Repeater Book indicates there are several Fusion WiresX repeaters available near me. I soon after I get the dual band antenna installed hopefully those repeaters are within range and will attempt connecting using Fusion/ wires x practicing the techniques Thanks for sharing this video ! When I was in pilot training in Big Spring Tx I thought of your location as mid- Texas vs West Texas 😃. 73 Steve AA4SH

hi Steve, thanks for the video. i followed your video but the wires-x icon just blinks & blinks so i am unable to change from one room to another. i am able to use the current 'room' but not able to change to another, any ideas

Same same same. Annoyingly i cannot access a single Node not even uk. I am beginning to believe there is something seriously wrong with the software. Sometimes i can hear others accessing but when I select “X” it just locks up….

Good evening Jimmy, I'm not sure what's going on, I know I originally had a problem I didn't have my power high enough, I'm sorry I can be of more help, I sure you tried max power already. I play around with it and see if I can find anything. '73 de KI5JUF let me know if you find the issue Steve

@@westtexasvideogateski5juf255 hi yes I did this and more. Still not sure why the FT991A lock up permanently if Wires-X is trying to log-in. However, the vast majority of my problem stemmed from using “split” operation in stead of “Dup”lex. This makes the radio do some funny things. I reset all of the channels and OFF-Sets and in so doing stumbled into the Duplex mode. (You may ask why I was in Split, our repeater for C4FM is set to 433,100.00 and to use the standard UHF offset takes it out of {UK} band.) so lesson learned use Duplex mode not Split. On thing I thought of, if it gets stuck in Wires X try pressing and holding the X button, I don't think this will fix the problem, but I just thought of it now I'll keep working on it '73
