I brought this up on a different omega Hugo video but Hugo’s dp might actually be a reference; in the Japanese version of third strike Hugo’s win quote is asking ryu to teach him how to do a shoryuken (on account that Hugo took shinsho and still stood afterwards in second impact), so it’s funny how years later he finally learned how to do a dp of sorts.
@@tenworms I meant more of a development history joke, that Hugo has an association with the shoryuken in multiple games and wanted to learn how last time he was in a street fighter game.
Abigail and Hugo definitely can co-exist in the same game, just like shotos co-exist. Abigail is really, really stripped down version of him and misses a lot of stuff Hugo had, so giving Hugo his SF4 run (faster startup but you have to commit to either grab or lariat and cannot combo into it or parry/cancel out of it), victory column (which Abigail only uses as a finisher in his punch special), his signature claps, shootdown, and body splash (while giving Abby the power throw for his non-ex command grabs). This combination of different enough specials combined with most of his key buttons also being different will be enough to differentiate between the two. Abigail will need a new special move or two though. UPD not to mention they'll have different v-trigger/burnout/whatever it's called mechanics as well.
@@aadaaadasda9979 more like they could have made Hugo more of a straight grappler versus Abigail being more of a powerhouse brawler. Of course Zanfief already had that role down, so if they were looking to be especially efficient with choices then that lowered Hugo’s choices too.
Surprisingly enough, though, the online for SF4 is really good despite being delay based. The issue is that there's nobody who wants to play Omega because literally nobody plays outside of ranked
@@joqqeman Oh, yeah, absolutely. If it doesn't work it REALLY doesn't work. But honestly that's kind of an issue with Capcom games in general. SFV has rollback but it's really bad when it doesn't work too.
I really hope Hugo gets into SF6, but I also really hope they get more creative with his design, he's so strict like you mentioned Victory Column would be cool as a Gill/Urien style Crouch Fierce, and I love the idea of a Normal that cancels into Clap, but Clap doesn't lead into it. But it's so hard to do that without gutting Clap like they did here. His cancellable Mediums/Heavies would have to launch to make that not cause an infinite, or they'd only be able to cancel into Light Clap, or you'd need such a slow cancellable Normal that it can lead into Medium Clap but Medium Clap doesn't lead into it... It's just a mess. Like Hugo's coolest traits also force him never to deviate from those traits. I feel like his Lights are meant to act kinda like Mediums (slower than most, long range), Mediums act kinda like Heavies (slower than most, powerful, sweep for Crouch Forward), and Heavies are just whatever (stupid slow, overheads, armor, Hammer Hook is a hard knockdown for some reason), and that's such a cool concept for a big-body, but we all know how that's turned out for him tier-wise
Odd that O.Hugo, doesn't feel like Hugo. I wish the claps were more like ultra, and they could've made the charge roundhouse armored. Then again it was made by the Sf5 team.
@@theraymunator Yeah,I watch everything Yellow posts, and it was sad to see da Boi getting all these new tools to play around with, but loosing himself in the process😭😭😭
