In my city there's a small statue for a woman who led the local revolt against the Spanish. If you look into Dutch 16th and 17th century history you'd often see women were the ones who mobilised everyone to protest the elites, partially because of their role in society. Men were busy doing their trades, but women ran the market stalls, did groceries etc. and talk to tons of people during the day. Those talks sometimes turned into protests, which would sometimes turn into actual revolts. Women have always been political.

The issue is that everything that requires interaction on some level has politics in it. The difference is whether they're implied politics or explicit politics. People make the categorical error where they think that explicit politics are the only political items that matter while in reality, implied politics has a far greater impact on society than explicit politics could ever hope for. It would be for the better if they realised how important implied politics are for the society we live in as explicit politics is advertising what you want to do while implied politics is what you actually do. An example of this is the existence of kindergartens in Europe. Their existence has probably done more for women's ability to participate in society as autonomous beings as having a place that can look after your children would be massively important for the woman with children who also wanted to work and would otherwise have to make a choice. Their existence is implied feministic politics that has in recent decades taken a more egalitarian bend as single parenthood of any gender becomes more normal.

I hope to see more women succeed at everything, but i don't expect to ever see equal representation in every career. Expecting equality of outcome between both genders in every aspect of society is wishful thinking. The tendency to isolate and completely devote one's self to something will always be more present in men since they are less social and more individualistic, even egotistical, than women. And i say again, on average... This give men, on average, an advantage when it comes to highly specialized jobs since the tendency to become obsessed to the point of ignoring everything else around is more present in males, on average. Explaining differences in outcome by only pointing to 'glass ceilings' and 'patriarchy' doesn't take in to account that there are differences in outcome when no such factors are in play. For example online gaming, in which you can be anonymous until you reach the top. When tournaments between the best are held, the field is almost completely male. This can't be explained by discrimination and bullying since you are anonymous if you want to. Plus, most of the communities i follow, such as the world of chess, women are treated quite normally. Take a look at the chess section on twitch and you'll find plenty female streamers. Look at live tournaments and find that women get extra invitations, price money and tournaments, and have for years. And still the outcome is overwhelmingly in favor of men. Not because of talent, because of obsession, which i assume is driven by hormones like testosterone.

The black knight and hedge knights aren't the same thing. Blackening your armour by burnishing it in that time would be pretty normal. You don't polish chain mail. In addition, a squires job wasn't to do all the menial tasks for a knight. It was learning how to become a knight.

I saw his potion video and thought it was at least an interesting take, got about three more vids deep before the "gender roles" theme started to become apparent, and maybe three more before it was clear what he's all about.

I remember realising he knew less about castles than he thought and hadn't visited any. Then he talked about buying his house young and how he did it and that smelt off. Then he tried to back up Sargon over some controversy and said being Mormon is like being black, something about not being allowed to sayt he N word, like it should be OK. It was very odd.

I got into Skallagrim and Shadiversity at the same time because I got suddenly interested in HEMA content. Over time, the vibes kept getting better for Skall and worse for Shad. Found myself comfort watching Skall and too stressed to keep watching Shad. Over time these vibes have been wholly validated.

I liked his fantasy takes, his reviews of medieval stuff and then noticed how he kept making weirder and weirder comments on gender roles and liberal views, even when he never used those words. Stopped watching, forgot about his channel until he jumped straight on the AI 'art' bandwagon and everything about him and his channels was so much worse than I remembered.

His channel was one of the few male channels I watched picking apart The Wheel of Time because the other ones eventually started renting about woke, diversity, trans, etc and I immediately stopped watching. Then I saw something that made it really clear what his views were and they weren't hidden like he tried WoT reviews. I was interested in how the tv show wasn't following themes, destroyed characters and their stories. It was actually a shock to see him go down this path. He should have stuck to the content.

You know, a lot of the historical arms and armour people have ditched him. He was already getting stick for talking out his arse about the use of weapons in 2021. With this second channel killing any hopes of doing crossovers with a lot of those people.

Even then, it was more his video's showing up in my feed, and me watching the very odd one. Or going back to when he was that chubby guy sat in a mock wooden throne, and waving wooden swords about. He always struck me as a bit of a wiki warrior. I highly doubt that he's as well-read on the subject of history as he'd like you to think. In the same way, Sargon likes to pretend he has some deep understanding of history. But to anybody with an actual interest, it's just the same old surface level takes. The Histories by Herodotus is my favourite book. The Wordsworth edition has very good notes, and is cheap. Or you can find the full audiobook on YT.
